Digimon: Source Code (数码宝贝：源码, Shùmǎ Bǎobèi: Yuánmǎ) is a video game.
In April 2022 the game's official website and social media pages were deleted, indicating the game may have been cancelled.
In July 2023, the game was re-announced.[1]
After many betas, the game eventually fully released on April 25, 2025.[2]
Although the game is exclusive to China, Bandai Japan have posted about it on the official Digimon website and social media using the name Digimon: Source Code (デジモン：ソースコード Dejimon: Sōsukōdo).[2]
The service was terminated at the end of January 26, 2026.
Story[edit]
As technology continues to evolve, the boundaries between electronic systems and human life have grown increasingly blurred.
Within the Digital World exist unique lifeforms known as "Digimon". As contact between them and humans became more frequent, some formed partner bonds, marking the beginning of an era of coexistence.
However, as this coexistence accelerated and partnerships multiplied, excessive evolution produced large amounts of redundant data. This imbalance began to disrupt the stability of the Digital World—specifically the functioning of the Core Source Code Crystal.
Sensing an imminent overload crisis, the World Tree initiated a purge of excess data. But before it could fully act, a dark force emerged. Under the assault of this corrupt energy, the Core Source Code Crystal shattered into four pieces, scattering fragments across the Digital World.
The destruction of the crystal not only intensified the overload but also caused the Digital World's stability to deteriorate. As a result, Digimon descended into chaos, with rampant and violent evolution spreading throughout the realm.
To contain the damage, the World Tree temporarily replaced the crystal, stabilizing the situation to some extent. Nevertheless, the consequences of its destruction persist—and may even begin to affect the human world. Restoring the Core Source Code Crystal has become urgent.
With their own agendas in mind, various factions have mobilized:
The Seven Great Demon Lords, seeking to realize their ambitions by collecting the fragments.
The Three Great Angels, who possess the power to restore the Core Source Code Crystal.
The Royal Knights, loyal to the World Tree, gathering fragments to preserve the world's stability.
And the humans who have been summoned-fighting alongside the Royal Knights, traveling across the Digital World to recover the fragments and resolve the crisis.
These humans are known as the "Chosen Ones".
