Story[edit]
Overview[edit]
"The protagonist, Rindo Izumo, becomes entangled in a great destiny after a mysterious encounter with a Digimon. A large, single eye starts out from inside the egg. What kind of adventure will this encounter lead to? Furthermore, Izumo's right arm seems to possess some kind of special power..."[2]
Development[edit]
In an episode of Terriermon Assistant's Lab, author Minato Ayumu shared information days prior to the start of serialization. According to him, Digimon Eggs is a story about "Digital Monsters" (デジタルモンスター Dejitaru Monsutā) and "Hearts" (心 kokoro) and is intended to appeal to both existing Digimon fans and to children. The first chapter will only feature brand new Digimon, like Suzumon, but the second chapter and onwards will begin featuring previously known Digimon.[2]
In an interview with Digimon Web, Minato Ayumu explains they were offered to "try drawing a new Digimon manga" and given the opportunity to serialize in Saikyō Jump while still serializing Digimon Paradox in Digimon Comic. They decided to publish a one-shot before the serialization, Digimon Believers, giving them the confidence to further refine their work for serialization, resulting in "Digimon Eggs".[3]
Digimon Eggs is a manga about a boy who uses Digimon for his science project. Minato Ayumu intended to create a story that focuses on the "DIGITALMONSTER". How do Digimon live? Where do they come from and where are they going? What happens when Digimon are around? They describe the science project framing device as a natural way to move the story towards thinking about Digimon, so it was decided as the main theme.[3]
