Digimon Story: Time Stranger Prelude (デジモンストーリー タイムストレンジャー Prelude, Dejimon Sutōrī Taimu Sutorenjā Prelude) is a Digimon Story: Time Stranger prequel short anime.
Story[edit]
The short provides important context on the events that led up to the deaths of Misono Inori's mother and her brother, Misono Yuta.
Three years prior to the events of the game, after watching an Agent Alpha movie with his mother, Yuta witnessed a Digital Gate being opened on top of the human world. From there, Aegiomon's Digitama dropped into the human world, followed by numerous Digimon who instantly began to fight each other. While being separated from his mother, Yuta picked up Aegiomon's Digitama and was pursued by a Kuwagamon, only for a Revolmon to drop down and defeat the Kuwagamon. Yuuta and the Revolmon went running from the hordes of fighting Digimon, while his mother sees him and tries to get him back home. Unfortunately, she was caught in an attack by a Mugendramon before she could and was killed instantly. The Mugendramon was about to approach Revolmon and Yuta and is going to kill them, but Revolmon reacts to the Digitama, which glows and caused him to Warp Evolve into Justimon to fight the Mugendramon and protect Yuta. Justimon defeats the Mugendramon, but at the meantime Titamon cleaves open a portal and attacks them. The outcome of this battle is unknown, although it was heavily implied that Yuta was killed amidst the clash, and Aegiomon's Digitama fell on the ground. Junomon then appeared in the clash site and took Aegiomon's Digitama back in its original place in the Temple of Beginnings.
The scene shifts to those of the Olympos XII members in their past selves, with Junomon placing the Digitama back to the hall where the egg of the Great Guardian is housed at.
The short then flashes forwards to Yuki Dan watching the anime commercial at the beginning of the game.

Trivia[edit]
- Aside of Yuta and the Misono family matriarch, an NPC standing in the present day of Shinjuku during the game proper confirmed that at least the former director of the Agent Alpha anime died during the incident. He was in the theater where Yuta and his mother came out from (which was also destroyed) and was taking an interview when the attack occurred.
- All of the Digimon that appeared in the short can be encountered and obtained in the game proper.
- Titamon kills Yuta and battles Justimon next to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the same place where the Titamon + Skull Baluchimon boss fight took place in the game.
- In one of Yuta's flashbacks, Yuta and Inori were holding croquettes. There is a croquette store downstairs to the Misono household.
- The restaurant Inori and Yuta were eating sundae at is actually the Nakasawa Gourmet Coffee shop in the Koshu-Kaido Intersection. This store can actually be found in the game.
