Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]
The Akashic Records is the system of Iliad itself and the place where Chronomon's soul was imprisoned in. After Jupitermon destroys the Giant Slayer and its components, Aegiomon and Dan/Kanan rescue Misono Inori at the end of time, they, alongside most major Digimon characters and Kuroi Shota were dragged into the space where Chronomon awaits, seeking to be slain.
It is a bizarre space consisted of eight areas, all lined in a straight path. Each area is defended by a copy of one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, which are stated to be weaker than the real ones. Monica Simmons heavily implies that all of the areas are made of locations erased from reality and transferred there by the countless time-space rifts manifesting in both the Digimon and human worlds.
The entrance, known as the Periphery, consists of a part of the Shinjuku Subway. Kuroi and the Piyomon in the prologue can be seen here, the latter who transfers the party to the next area.
The in-game map is disabled in the Akashic Records.
Akashic Hades[edit]
This is the first area of the Akashic Records, consisting of parts of the Dark Castle fused with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building's second floor. There, the party simply has to aid Plutomon and the Orgemon brothers in taking out copy Barbamon. Once it's down, Gekomon will then transfer the party to the next area.
Akashic Chaos[edit]
The second area, it consists of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building's rooftop, but appears to be turned upside down. It is a small area with only two battles, one against a Mugendramon and a Chimairamon, followed instantly by copy Demon accompanied by a pair of Millenniummon. Marsmon and Callismon appear as guest allies. Once they are all defeated, Pegasusmon will transfer the party to the next area.
Akashic Forest[edit]
This area consists of parts of the Gear Forest's Shaded Woods area. The way to the next area is blocked off by one of Chronomon's wings. To proceed, Yuki must use DigiAttack to drop a red, blue and purple fruit to revitalize Bacchusmon so he could break the barricade. Upon dropping the blue fruit, wild Cerberusmon will appear, and wild Funbeemon, Waspmon and Cannonbeemon appear after dropping the purple fruit. Copy Lilithmon will attack Yuki when they are about to give the purple fruit to Bacchusmon. It is accompanied by a pair of Cerberusmon. Once they are all defeated, Bacchusmon will destroy the barricade, allowing the party to use Whamon to go to the next area.
Akashic Abyss[edit]
This area consists of the Abyss Area's Sanctuary area fused with the Shinjuku Metro Station. Neptunemon and Venusmon's forces stood off with Chronomon's army there. The party might proceed to the next area through a gate created by Junomon after defeating copy Leviamon.
Akashic Oblivion[edit]
This area consists of the topmost part of Factorial Town, close to the Blimpmon landing area. Vulcanusmon built a bridge to Junomon's gate, but the battery is stolen by a Tsumemon. Yuki must navigate an invisible bridge to find the correct Tsumemon. It is possible to fall off the bridge and start over or end up in another floor. The bridge can be briefly made visible through usage of the Analyze function. Once Yuki finds the correct Tsumemon, copy Lucemon: Satan Mode will attack the party. After it is defeated, they can move towards the next area.
Akashic Ragnarok[edit]
The area consists of the Guardian Palace's entrance hallway. Unlike the original Palace, the camera angle is fixed, and the floor does not change form. It contains a minigame similar to the Protect the Giant Digimeat Outer Dungeons where Yuki must fend off three waves of enemies from Apollomon and Dianamon. However, the camera angle is fixed to top view and the area is much smaller compared to a Protect the Giant Digimeat minigame, and coming into contact with any of the enemy Digimon will not result in a battle.
The enemies are as follows:
- In the first wave, only Megadramon and Gigadramon will spawn.
- In the second wave, Zanbamon will spawn alongside Megadramon and Gigadramon. Zanbamon moves faster than the Megadramon and Gigadramon and might take several hits to defeat.
- In the third wave, a Skull Greymon will slowly walk towards the line alongside a Megadramon and a Gigadramon that moves faster than usual. Skull Greymon will usually take multiple hits to defeat. This will happen twice.
After Yuki fends off the third wave, copy Beelzebumon: Blast Mode will appear and attack. Once it is defeated, Apollomon and Dianamon will destroy the wormhole and allow Inori and Aegiomon to enter the next area, but Yuki will instead be trapped alone in the Akashic Maze.
Akashic Maze[edit]
This area is unique that it consists of a seemingly never-ending loop cycling between the Central Town entrance, the Misono household, a part of Factorial Town and the East Shopping District. Yuki will be trapped here alone and several Belphemon: Sleep Mode appear (either hidden or in plain sight) across the locations; these can be destroyed using Digi Attack. After the first loop, Mercurymon will attempt to contact Yuki and Nanimon will appear. A couple runs later, the next instance of Factorial Town will contain a second door leading right into the Warrior's Watering Hole. Copy Belphemon will then attack Yuki and Nanimon, first appearing in its Sleep Mode form; if Yuki destroyed at least 1 Belphemon: Sleep Mode prior, it will start with only 100 HP. It turns into Belphemon: Rage Mode after it is defeated in its Sleep Mode form. Mercurymon will appear personally to aid Yuki after a couple of turns has passed. After defeating it, Mercurymon will open a rift that transports Yuki and Nanimon to Ceresmon's back.
The area's real name does not appear in the game itself and the in-game UI will display the names of the locations that became a part of it.
Innermost Depths[edit]
The expanse where Chronomon awaits the party. The party and the Olympos XII are seen atop of Ceresmon's back, and the only thing Yuki can do here is to access the Threshold Theater or speak to Aegiomon to start the final battle, at which all of the Digimon involved in the fight, alongside Yuki and Inori, drop down from Ceresmon's back to fight it. After a long and grueling fight, Aegiomon as Jupitermon manages to slay Chronomon and free him from his misery. He then voluntarily leaves Inori to become the new Great Guardian of Iliad and repairs the space-time continuum, creating a timeline where the destruction caused by Chronomon mostly did not happen.
