The Giant Slayer is a robot developed around eight years by public security division D-SAT after the Digimon attack accidentally unleashed by Junomon, supposedly to eradicate all Digimon. It is powered by Digimon provided to the government by Junomon, who was already driven completely insane by losing Aegiomon and possessed by Chronomon to further his plans, through an unknowing Dianamon who thought that she was sending emissaries into the human world to mend human-Digimon relations. Sometimes, Digimon are directly captured from the human world, one of these being Vulcanusmon, who was captured, killed and turned into a powerful fuel source for the machine.
In actuality, the humans who created it were unwittingly tricked by Chronomon for his grand designs. It was intended to be piloted by the head of D-SAT Kuroi Shota, but it was instantly taken over by Chronomon on activation and he was ejected out from its cockpit. Chronomon would then attempt to attack Misono Inori or try to destroy all of Shinjuku to bait a desperate Aegiomon as Jupitermon: Wrath Mode into destroying it in hopes of saving his human partner or protect her legacy. In a usual timeline, as the Olympos XII were not present to contain the chaos, the collision between Aegiomon and the Giant Slayer would destroy the world and reset the timeline, trapping everything in a time loop dubbed as the "Shinjuku Inferno". Furthermore, preventing Vulcanusmon from being killed and/or restoring Junomon back to sanity does not stop the Giant Slayer from activating and going onto a rampage, as Chronomon can simply activate the machine by possessing it. When being hijacked by Chronomon, the Giant Slayer is considered to be an avatar of Chronomon himself and an extension of his grudge.
On one timeline where the Agent is present and several of the future Olympos XII were saved from ruin, they, Inori and Aegiomon were tasked by Monica Simmons to stop the government-built giant robot, only for them to witness the same sequence of events happening with Aegiomon in tow with Inori, which caused Inori to be trapped in a space-time rift and Aegiomon to lash out across timelines out of desperation to find her back.
In the timeline where the Olympos XII does form however, the protagonist was able to fuse with Aegiomon to become the complete Jupitermon and unite its remaining members and Plutomon. This allowed Apollomon and Dianamon to fuse into Grace Novamon and contain both Jupitermon: Wrath Mode and the Giant Slayer into a pocket dimension so the impact will not destroy the entire world. The Giant Slayer is of the No Data type, has the "Machine" gene, and uses Chronomon: Destroy Mode's signature moves in Digimon Story, namely Finger Bomb and Holy Flare, alongside a new move known as Jōka no Hikari. The player cannot click anything but the normal attack button (which now uses Jupitermon: Wrath Mode's signature moves) and cannot lose the battle as all attacks used do percentage-based damage and the Giant Slayer will not do enough damage to kill Jupitermon: Wrath Mode. Jupitermon: Wrath Mode destroys the Giant Slayer, but disintegrates and splits back into the protagonist and Aegiomon in the process. The two save Inori as well and they were able to enter the Akashic Records to challenge Chronomon.
Upon its destruction, Chronomon (as Cherubimon (Vice)) fuses with its defunct body to become a Robot version of himself.
