Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]

8 years ago, a Titan army invaded the Guardian Palace for Chronomon's treasure when Misono Inori, Aegiomon and Yuki Dan/Kanan was about to complete their deal with Junomon to return to their world. They defeat the Titans only for Titan commander Titamon to intervene personally and knock Junomon down her throne. Junomon requests Inori and Dan/Kanan to take the treasure to the human world so she could have Aegiomon for herself. Aegiomon rejects, causing Junomon to fly into a fit of rage indiscriminately throwing numerous Titans and rogue Digimon alike from the Digital World into the Real World. Dan/Kanan, Inori and Aegiomon defeat Titamon at the end of this conflict, but Chronomon's treasure exploded and destroyed the government building and created a permanent Digital Gate under it where numerous Digimon appear.

The conflict resulted in numerous injuries and deaths, and further exacerbated by Titan Ranamon gravely injuring Public Security captain Kuremi Kodai offscreen and Misono Kosuke losing his entire family to Digimon, the Department of Security and Anti-Terrorism was created by Kuroi Shota as an offshoot of Public Security with the goal of revenge against the Digimon who took away Kuroi and Kosuke's loved ones. They captured and relocated any Digimon they come across to within the "Wall of Hope" in Shinjuku so they can be annihilated in one fell swoop, despite most of the Digimon that appeared on the streets are peaceful and regular citizens were perfectly fine with their presence. Furthermore, D-SAT can arrest and detain anyone housing a Digimon on their residence. Disgusted with how Public Security was now treating Digimon, both Monica Simmons & Shiroki Asuna left to assist the Digimon. Kuga Toya took over as lead scientist for the group since then. Kuroi also asked Kodai to join him, but he refused, citing that he wanted to protect the very things that he hold dear in his own way.

To this means, they created a (supposed) anti-Digimon robot known as the Giant Slayer. It is created and fueled by numerous Digimon test subjects provided by Junomon through Dianamon to Dr. Kuga. Junomon was possessed by Chronomon, and tricked Dianamon into thinking that the Digimon are sent to the human world as emissaries and teaching the humans how to experiment on them. She indirectly isolated her from Apollomon through a Pumpmon serving her and imprisoned Minervamon to make sure she does not find out the deception. The Digimon sent by Dianamon into the human world were killed and their Digicores harvested as fuel for the Giant Slayer. The only known exception is Vulcanusmon, who ventured to the human world on his own volition and was captured and killed by extracting his Digicore. D-SAT eventually extracted his crafting knowledge for the Giant Slayer's creation. Despite their genocidal hatred against Digimon, they also employed and controlled them as security guards.

In actuality, the group is tricked into creating a vessel for Chronomon as an integral piece for his schemes. When director Kuroi tried to pilot the machine, he was instantly booted out of its cockpit and the machine was possessed by Chronomon to goad Aegiomon into attacking him, the collision which would annihilate the entire world in an event coined by Dan/Kanan as the "Shinjuku Inferno".

During the timeline where the Shinjuku Inferno time loop was broken, Kuroi ended up being trapped in the Akashic Records and realized that Digimon were not the vicious monsters that he believed they were. Any remaining members of the group in the real world realized the errors of their ways as well and helped the Digimon of Rebellion Village to evacuate citizens as wide swathes of Shinjuku were destroyed by space-time rifts and fused into the Akashic Records.

Alternate Dimension[edit]

The group was seemingly disbanded in a timeline where the Shinjuku Inferno did not reset the timeline and all of its executives were reported missing.
