Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]

At the start of the game, Agent Dan/Kanan was sent to investigate the Wall of Hope, supposedly under orders from Adamas. They came across people protesting to get the government to reveal the truth behind its existence, and encountered Digimon in the subway tracks under it.

During the Digimon attack that occurred in Shinjuku, 8 years ago, Inori, Dan/Kanan and Aegiomon fought Titamon in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building in pursuit of Chronomon's Treasure. However, Titamon absorbed the treasure and gained the ability to control time. When they defeat him in his Titamon + Skull Baluchimon form and slay Skull Baluchimon, Titamon becomes Berserk Titamon and goes berserk with the treasure's power. Dan/Kanan and Aegiomon defeat Berserk Titamon, but the treasure's power goes out of control and explodes, taking Titamon and the government building with it.

A Digital Gate was then found lying under the government building's ruins, where countless Digimon poured from it and entered the human world. Unlike the timeline where the Agent came from, the public was perfectly aware of the Digimon's existence and had no problems coexisting with them in-game. However, Misono Kosuke and Kuroi Shota, who fell into murderous insanity and despair after having their loved ones taken away by Digimon, formed D-SAT, a splinter group of Public Security dedicated to the complete extermination of all Digimon in the human world. D-SAT encircled the ruins of the the government building with the Wall of Hope barricade and went around Shinjuku trying to contain all of the Digimon roaming around Shinjuku into the the ruins of the government building so they can be exterminated in one fell swoop using a manmade weapon known as the Giant Slayer.

At the meantime, Central Town was taken over by Titans when its leader Mercurymon was struck with a poisoned dart and crippled, so most of its residents escaped into the human world and lived in a temporary settlement directly under the Wall of Hope, known as Rebellion Village. Right under Rebellion Village is the Special Forces Underground Lab where the Giant Slayer was being developed.

Shortly after time-traveling to Shinjuku, present day, Inori, Dan/Kanan and Aegiomon were personally apprehended by Kuroi and thrown into the Wall of Hope, only for Public Security defector Shiroki Asuna to save them to prevent them from being experimented upon by D-SAT. They were then escorted to Rebellion Village under the wall.

In a usual timeline, Inori would vanish (or die) somewhere, and Aegiomon will go completely berserk, traveling across time in a futile attempt to find her back. With none of the other Apostles of Iliad alive or present to keep Aegiomon in-check, Chronomon will rain dangerous Titans into the human world and around the Wall of Hope through gates opened by Junomon (which he was possessing and using as a vessel), forcing D-SAT to deploy the Giant Slayer to kill all of the Digimon that flooded into the human world. At the meantime, Mercurymon's forces were engaging in battle with the Titans both in the human world and Central Town, which ended up in total defeat for them as Mercurymon sacrificed himself to protect his comrades. This resulted in a senseless three-way war between humans, Digimon and Titans inside the War of Hope. Immediately after Giant Slayer is deployed, Chronomon will go to possess the Giant Slayer himself and use it as a vessel to destroy the entirety of Shinjuku, or in timelines where Inori is present, attack her. Aegiomon, as Jupitermon: Wrath Mode, will then punch the Giant Slayer/Chronomon out of rage, destroying it. The clash between two gods of time destroyed the world and will usually reset the timeline in an apocalyptic event dubbed as the "Shinjuku Inferno". This war was orchestrated by Chronomon in a long game to create a situation so horrible and unacceptable so Aegiomon will slay him out of despair and put him out of his misery, and become as miserable as he is.

In the timeline where the time loop was broken, Aegiomon managed to evolve into Jupitermon with encouragement from the Agent and fusing with them and his shadows from the other timelines, and form a nascent guardian group with the other eleven Apostles of Iliad. He makes a detour into the Gear Forest where he meets the other Apostles and brings Apollomon and Dianamon with him to the Wall of Hope, in order to correct the timeline and prevent Shinjuku from being destroyed. Apollomon and Dianamon Jogresses into Grace Novamon and creates a subspace so Jupitermon: Wrath Mode and Chronomon can fight each other without destroying Shinjuku. Jupitermon: Wrath Mode and Chronomon's vessel destroy each other, and the former splits back into the Agent and Aegiomon and save Inori in the end of time, where countless other Digimon were dragged into the Akashic Records and entire locations from both Iliad and Shinjuku were fused into a series of distorted landscapes, and where Chronomon awaits to be slain for good.
