Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]
The Gear Forest is a key infrastructure of Iliad and home to its World Tree and the Energy Vein. The Energy Vein is defended by a village in front of it known as the Gear Forest Settlement. It is governed by Bacchusmon, whose might ensures that no intruder can invade and compromise the Energy Vein.
However, in recent years, Bacchusmon slowly crumbled from the sheer pressure of protecting the Energy Vein alone, and fell to alcoholism to evade responsibility. In place, his aide and songstress Sirenmon was in charge of the area's defenses.
Inori, Aegiomon and Yuki Dan/Kanan first visit here for a deal with Junomon to suppress the Titans invading there in exchange for returning to their homeworld. Transportation is handled by a Palmon who will transfer the party between islands. In the present day, the Palmon evolved into a Rosemon, who will charge 100 Yen per ride (this is mitigated by the Lalamon present around the Palmon ride spots, which only give 150 yen on defeat, are passive, respawn quickly and can be defeated instantly in one DigiAttack regardless of difficulty.)
They eventually reached Bacchusmon and ask him to join them and stop the Titans, but he was unresponsive. Sirenmon explains to them about the situation and joins them instead. On the way to the Sanctuary, they got lost in a mist summoned by its guardian Jyureimon, who mistakes them for invaders and attacks them once the Agent found out. They defeat Jyureimon and he lets them pass to deal with the Titans.
The party defeats the Titans and drive them away, and Bacchusmon arrives to the scene. Unfortunately, the party was too late, as the Energy Vein was compromised by the Titans. With the Energy Vein's compromise, Bacchusmon goes to declare war and promises the party that he will reduce his alcohol intake and that the next time they meet, he will throw a party for them. The Energy Vein's compromise proved to be catastrophic, as it allowed the Titans to attack the Guardian Palace and set up the chain of tragedies that would lead to the apocalyptic Shinjuku Inferno.
8 years later, the Titans found a way to compromise the Gear Forest and destroy the Energy Vein by exploiting Bacchusmon's psychological weakness. They launched an invasion towards the Gear Forest, which is successfully repelled as usual, and Bacchusmon thrown a revelry celebrating his victory. At the end of the party however, a Witchmon under the Titans put everyone in the village to sleep while Sirenmon fights the Titans alone, successfully killing everyone in the Settlement save for Bacchusmon himself and a Griffomon that was assisting the party. When he woke up, everyone died and he became despondent. While trying to secure the fruit of the Karpos Hulē to cure Mercurymon's ailment, they instead witnessed him committing suicide by poison, perishing as a result. Realizing the importance of the Digimon that just died, Aegiomon summons a dark shadow and travels back in time to save him.
Traveling back in time, the party encounters Lotusmon instead, who was still unaware that a massacre was about to be unleashed on the forest. They team up with her to reach the village and encounter everyone falling asleep. They were lulled to sleep by Witchmon and found themselves trapped in a dream world Outer Dungeon as well. The dream world has four teleporter doors which can only be traversed by returning back to the door. At the end of the maze, the party will run into Bacchusmon on an invisible floor and join him to defeat Witchmon. Witchmon is defeated and seemingly dies; in actuality, she is still alive and escaped.
With the Digimon no longer under threat of being asleep, the party and Bacchusmon goes to confront the Titans in the Sanctuary. There, they encounter Sirenmon fighting a Tyrant Kabuterimon alone, and rush in to help her. They manage to defeat the Tyrant Kabuterimon and make him escape, with Sirenmon being the sole causality. Sirenmon vanished and reverted into a sprout after her death.
Regardless, Bacchusmon thrown a party for their latest victory that the party joined in. There, Inori made a wish that she could be forever with Aegiomon and Yuki. Aegiomon also contemplated about using his time-traveling powers to undo the deaths of Inori's brother.
After "The Whereabouts of the Ribbon", the Agent alone managed to stall enough time for Venusmon to hand Mercurymon a cure before he could haphazardly go back to reclaim Central Town, an action proven to be fatal for him. Venusmon found a Karpos Hulē fruit from the sprout that was Sirenmon and cured his poison instantly, giving him back the strength for him to recapture the town.
During "The Cycle of Time", as the Agent and Aegiomon fuse into Jupitermon, Sirenmon Death Evolves into Ceresmon and becomes the final member of the Apostles of Iliad to be manifested. The Apostles of Iliad gather in the Gear Forest to meet their new leader, Jupitermon, forming a nascent guardian group to stop the Shinjuku Inferno and slay Chronomon. Following the Giant Slayer's destruction, parts of the Gear Forest were destroyed and transferred into the Akashic Records.
After slaying Chronomon and releasing him out of his misery, Inori tearfully parts with Jupitermon, and it enters a space-time rift where it temporarily separates itself back to Aegiomon and the Agent. Aegiomon sends the Agent back to the human world citing that he will take care of things from now on, then evolves back to Jupitermon on his own to create a new timeline where the destruction caused by Chronomon did not happen. Once done, Jupitermon meets his comrades again in the Gear Forest, announcing the official formation of the new guardian group of Iliad, the Olympos XII, and that he will spread the group's name far and wide.
Upon clearing the game for the first time, the title screen will become those of Aegiomon, Inori and the Agent when they celebrated in the Gear Forest. This variation of the title screen will re-appear every other time the player returns to it.

Trivia[edit]
- In the Village, a Lilamon speaks of her crush on a Stingmon. This is a reference to Digimon Xros Wars, in which the same situation happened in its own forest-themed area (Forest Zone).
