Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]
Tyrant Kabuterimon is a member of the Titans. He accompanied Witchmon in the raid against the Gear Forest that would usually cause Bacchusmon to commit suicide, as well as killing Sirenmon himself, but Yuki Dan/Yuki Kanan, Misono Inori and Aegiomon travelled back in time to save Gear Forest. After saving Bacchusmon from Witchmon in "The Titans' Grudge", the Agent and the rest confront Tyrant Kabuterimon while he was gloating to a wounded Sirenmon about how they would take over the Energy Vein and how everything had gone according to plan even despite the overwhelming strength of Bacchusmon, only for him to get punched by said Digimon when the party arrived.
Tyrant Kabuterimon is the final boss of "The Titans' Grudge". He is the first enemy in the game who has four actions per turn. Apart from normal attacks, he can use Wolkenapalm III, Crescent Leaf III and Attack Charge. If his CP gauge reaches 3, he will use Shine of Bee, which can potentially devastate entire parties. This is especially dangerous when combined with his high actions count, as he only loses out a single action out of four and can follow-up with other attacks to pick away weakened party members, and since he refills his CP gauge quickly, Shine of Bee is spammed relatively frequently. If his HP is low enough, he will also use Tyrant Shield (boosts all elemental resistances) and Bee Cyclone in succession, making him even harder to kill. Tyrant Kabuterimon is affected by Poison, Confusion and Paralysis (and by extension, their advanced versions), the former being especially effective as his high turn count means that his HP will be shredded quickly. He also only has physical attacks, making him also vulnerable to Attack Reflect.
Tyrant Kabuterimon is weak to Water, and resists Fire and Earth. Just like most bosses, this is identical with both the boss and playable versions. It has the "Medium" and "Insect" genes. Despite being a Titan, it lacks the "Titan" gene.
The battle has multiple cutscenes which trigger at various points during it, all of which form a single dialogue between Bacchusmon and Sirenmon. Tyrant Kabuterimon cannot be defeated until the final cutscene.
- Tyrant Kabuterimon will always attack Bacchusmon first. This triggers the first cutscene, where Bacchusmon apologises to Sirenmon for having left his guard down but Sirenmon tells him that's fine as she now understands the weight of his responsibility.
- Sirenmon follows by apologising herself for letting Bacchusmon shoulder said responsibility all alone.
- Bacchusmon tells Sirenmon he knew how sincerely thankful she was and always heard her singing to heal his body and soul, even when he was drunk and half asleep, so he never felt his responsibility was a burden or that he was alone.
- If Tyrant Kabuterimon's HP goes right under half, Sirenmon begs Bacchusmon to protect Gear Forest so they can then throw a party and celebrate, with her singing her best songs as that was essential for a party, something Bacchusmon agreed with so he told her to take good care of her singing voice for the incoming long party. Bacchusmon then Mode Changes to his Crapulence Mode.
Tyrant Kabuterimon escaped following his defeat, marking the end of the Titans' attack on Gear Forest. This was not without casualties however, as Sirenmon soon after passed away from her wounds.
When the protagonist was imprisoned in the Guardian Palace by Junomon, Tyrant Kabuterimon was one of the Titans sent to free him. He destroyed the gates of their cell and killed a Pumpmon who was found serving Chronomon.
Tyrant Kabuterimon is also an obtainable Digimon. It evolves from Archnemon, Atlur Kabuterimon (Red), or Okuwamon.
It can also be obtained directly from clearing the Outer Dungeon "Defeat the boss within the Time Limit 4", at level 60 with a Talent of 99. As this dungeon can be encountered early on in the game, assuming if the player can defeat Tyrant Kabuterimon, they can have a powerful Ultimate-type Digimon for the midgame especially when most of them are unavailable until near the end of the game.
