Etemon is the so-called "King of Digimon," who controls the Dark Network that runs under his territory in the desert of the the Server Continent. Using the Dark Network, he hunts the Chosen Children when they come to Server in search of their Crests.

Although he is thought dead after being defeated by Yagami Taichi and his Metal Greymon, he endures the ordeal and eventually returns to the Digital World as Metal Etemon.

An Etemon is also depicted on one of the key cards used to unlock the gate between the worlds in Vamdemon Castle. Its card goes in the Virus Perfect slot of the pedestal puzzle.

Digimon Adventure:[edit]

Etemon is a Digimon who aspires to be the King of Digimon, and the rival of Volcamon. Unlike Volcamon, he believes that entertainment is the most important quality in a King of Digimon.

The Chosen Children encounter Etemon and Volcamon in "Clash, the King of Digimon", and become targeted by both Digimon, who decide that whoever defeats the notorious group will earn the King of Digimon title. The sound waves that their voices and instruments create totally cripple the Chosen Children's partner Digimon, but as Izumi Koshiro theorizes, they also trigger the irregular evolution of Tachikawa Mimi's Palmon into Ponchomon, who cancels out their sound waves with her own rhythm and defeats both of them. Afterward, they both become fans of Palmon's and unsuccessfully attempt to court her into forming a duo.

Etemon and Volcamon witness the attacking swarm of Soundbirdmons in "The Angels' Determination".

In "The End of the Adventure", Etemon and Volcamon are seen riding a Tankmon near Machmon and Rebellimon's race some time after Negamon's defeat.
