An eccentric Digimon that impersonates all sorts of Digimon in order to confuse the enemy. While it is a Puppet Digimon, similarly to Etemon and Monzaemon, it is a rare type capable of disguising itself as various types of Digimon by changing the Digimon Suit (?) it wears. Its Special Moves are "Tsukkomi Punch", which despite only having the power of a straight man's interjections has the ability to mentally drain the opponent, and "Cold Gag", an attack which utilises its dubious gaze and cryptic gags to stop opponents in their tracks, as if they have been frozen.

Digimon Ghost Game[edit]

In "Who Are You?" a group of Betsumon wanted to take over everyone's identities in Amanokawa Hiro's boarding school, ultimately making them disappear, having done so before to a Meicoomon. To do so, one disguised himself as Gammamon, luring him out of the building by pretending to be his friend so as to manipulate Hiro into believing that he was Gammamon. This ultimately led to Hiro, Tsukiyono Ruli, Angoramon and Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro not recognizing Gammamon as himself, with Hiro thinking he was Gammamon's friend instead.

With Gammamon driven away, the group of Betsumon became more aggressive in taking over people's identities, replacing several humans amongst the school, including one disguising himself as Jellymon (which was easy for him, as Jellymon was constantly away) then knocking out Kiyoshiro to take his identity.

In a picnic, Gammamon managed to break his impostor's grasp over Hiro by eating so much chocolate that the latter could not keep up. The Betsumons then revealed themselves and fought Wezen Gammamon, having the edge before he evolved into Canoweissmon, who defeated all of them in a single Meteor Lux. Afterwards, Clockmon took them away, vowing to straighten them out.

A Betsumon reappeared in "Whispers of the Dead", disguised as a nurse in the Toei University Hospital. He took the near-dead Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro to Mummymon, though he made it clear he helped the heroes only because Clockmon made him do it.
