Perfect

From Wikimon

Perfect (完全体 Kanzentai, abbreviated 完 Kan;[1][N 1][N 2] Dub: Ultimate), also referred to as Level V, is the fifth natural Evolution Stage in Digimon evolution.

Overview[edit]

The Perfect level is the point where further evolution becomes increasingly rare. The majority of Digimon never evolve any further than the Adult level, so only the most exceptionally powerful among Adult Digimon ever evolve into Perfect Digimon.[4]

Compared to Adult Digimon, Perfect Digimon possess overwhelming power. In the wild, they typically take on the role of pack leaders.[4]

Those few, rare Perfect Digimon who endure countless battles and overcome their own limits can evolve again to reach the Ultimate level.[4]

At the time of the inception of the Digimon franchise, Perfect was the highest Evolution Stage. It remained so until October 24, 1998, when the Digimon Pendulum virtual pet line introduced the Ultimate level. Some Digimon video games released as late as 2000 (which post-date the launch of the Digimon Pendulum)—such as Digimon World, Digimon World: Digital Card Battle, and Digimon World: Digital Card Arena—also do not feature the Ultimate level, so in these games, Ultimate Digimon who appear are assigned the Perfect level.

References Notes
  1. Originally translated as Ultimate, before the creation of Ultimate[2][3] and possibly why the English localisation uses it.
  2. Some Japanese material, such as the D-Scanner toy line, borrow the English dub Evolution Stage names as glosses for the Japanese level names whenever text is presented on-screen in English. As a result, this Evolution Stage is also sometimes called Ultimate in Japanese material. On rare occasions, this also extends to Japanese-language text: in Digimon Story: Sunburst & Moonlight, Algomon Perfect is named アルゴモン アルティメット ("Algomon Ultimate").
