An upgraded version of Gekomon with an antenna resembling the chonmage of a feudal lord. The upgrade is said to have first occurred in a karaoke grading system. It plays a melody from the two horns extending from its shoulders, and its singing voice, which is several octaves below that of Gekomon's, imparts a feeling of a lordly air of superiority (?). Its Special Move is causing the enemy's configuration data to vibrate using the ultra-low frequency waves from its vocals and horns, destroying them (Kobushi Tone). However, depending on the opponent, their physical condition may end up improving due to the low frequency waves.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Tachikawa Mimi was asked to sing by the Gekomon and Otamamon to try and wake up Tonosama Gekomon. But after she eventually did, it got mad for being woken up and attacked the Chosen Children until he was stopped by Yagami Taichi's Metal Greymon. He later reappeared, but he fell into the depth of the abyss when the Dark Masters attacked.

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

Having become much nicer since the last adventure, Tonosama Gekomon continued to rule over the Gekomon and Otamamon as well as some new followers such as the Blossomon, Mushmon and an Igamon in a giant recreation of the Edo Period of Japan, except that it had manholes. The Digimon Kaiser invaded his area and established a Dark Tower in it, taking control of all of the Digimon except those sealed in the palace. The Chosen Children arrived to liberate the area from the Digimon Kaiser, but were at first overwhelmed. A loyal Gekomon led them through a secret underground entrance to the palace, where they met him. He then proposed a great idea for a time such as this: sleep.

Igamon, having fallen under the control of an Evil Ring, snuck into the palace and placed an Evil Spiral onto Tonosama Gekomon, causing him to also fall under the Digimon Kaiser's control. Yagami Hikari and Takaishi Takeru tricked Tonosama Gekomon into destroying the Dark Tower, freeing all of the other Chosen Children from their battles. They then combined their attacks and beat him, freeing him from the Evil Spiral.

A Tonosama Gekomon is the partner Digimon of an International Chosen Child. It evolved in order to fight an Eosmon.

Digimon Adventure:[edit]

Tonosama Gekomon is the lord of Kabukimon, several Gekomon and several Dondokomon. He considers himself the ultimate cozy lord, and wishes to live a cozy lifestyle.

Before "The Geko Hot Springs' Revolt", Tonosama Gekomon, alongside his servants dried out every hot spring except for one, which they built their castle around, so he would have the only hot spring around. Kabukimon then led Kido Joe, Gomamon, Takaishi Takeru, Patamon, Yagami Hikari and Tailmon into Tonosama Gekomon's castle, so he would have a literal taste of them with his huge tongue. Afterwards, he kidnapped Gomamon and took him as his bride, though he seemed to not fully understand said concept, which Tailmon theorized was because he and his servants had only taken incomplete Real World data.

After Joe and the rest created a fake hot spring, Tonosama Gekomon and his servants went to destroy it. At that moment, he left his hot spring and immediately lost strength as he could not handle the cold, but recovered after entering a pool, which was held by his Gekomon. This gave Gomamon the idea of how to beat him, so Gomamon tricked him into jumping into the fake hot spring, giving him the chance to escape by switching places with a Nanimon. Afterwards, a lot of snow was dropped into the hot spring, cooling it down. Gomamon also evolved into Ikkakumon to beat him, which didn't change Tonosama Gekomon's feelings for him, but he did not like Zudomon afterwards due to him not looking "cozy" enough. Zudomon then proceeded to beat him with Hammer Spark.

After the new, free hot springs were created, Tonosama Gekomon and his servants were invited to enter them by Joe, who believed hot springs should be free for everyone. As such, they now considered him their lord, making him a lord's lord.

Tonosama Gekomon, alongside the rest of the hot springs Digimon, reappeared in "Vikemon Ventures the Glaciers". After their hot springs went dry, Joe decided to lead them to a new, warm place as described by Kabukimon. However, they instead ended up going through an extremely cold, snowy area, and would've died there had Tachikawa Mimi and the Digimon of Babamon's school not appeared to save them with their Blimpmon. Said Blimpmon was then attacked by Olegmon and his pirate crew, who wanted to take their food. Tonosama Gekomon was able to stop Olegmon's ship's cannonballs with his Kobushi Tone. However, he ended up falling off Blimpmon, and Joe and Gomamon soon followed, with all of them being taken captive by Olegmon soon afterwards. Tonosama Gekomon was tied to the ship's mast, in order to stop Mimi and her crew from attacking Olegmon's crew and trade the hostages for food. However, Joe instead challenged Olegmon to a duel with his pride as leader on the line, where the loser would become the winner's lackey and all hostages being freed should Joe win. With the newly-evolved Vikemon defeating Olegmon, Tonosama Gekomon was freed. After Olegmon recognized Joe as a shogun, Tonosama Gekomon pointed out that he's their lord.

Olegmon and his crew of Hangyomon and Gawappamon, alongside the Babamon Digimon School students Bancho Mamemon, several Tanemon and Lalamon, and Joe's servants and friends Tonosama Gekomon, Kabukimon, Blossomon, Nanimon, Gekomon and Dondokomon, reacted to the attack of a group of Soundbirdmon in "The Angels' Determination"

After Negamon was finally defeated in "The End of the Adventure", Olegmon and Tonosama Gekomon drank with each other on a ship as Kabukimon, Dondokomon, a Hangyomon and a Gawappamon partied, with a Gekomon, two Nanimon and Blossomon being with them as well.

Digimon Ghost Game[edit]

Tonosama Gekomon hunted evil and turned anyone that committed any sort of crime into data with his Kobushi Tone in "Jiraiya", while searching for a "Jiraiya" to ride on his back. However, anyone that he took as Jiraiya would be immediately turned into a Hologram Ghost, then absorbed into his back until they became nothing but a face on it. During this search, he attacked a Sentai-like theatre play in which the characters were Jiraiya's descendants, expecting to find the true Jiraiya amongst them. To avoid further violence, Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro, who was watching the play, proclaimed he was the true Jiraiya, and Tonosama Gekomon took him. While he tried to get help, Gekomon, who followed Tonosama Gekomon, stopped him, wanting to keep his master unaware that the people on his back were being absorbed into him.

The other protagonists found Tonosama Gekomon later on, after Kiyoshiro convinced him to take a break, but Kiyoshiro was fully absorbed into his back soon after Jellymon attacked Tonosama Gekomon. Sad that Jiraiya had left him again, Tonosama Gekomon fully materialized and attacked the heroes, thinking they were to blame for it. Gammamon and Angoramon Warp Evolved into Canoweissmon and Lamortmon to stop him. However, they were unable to properly fight him for fear of hurting the humans he had absorbed, which led to them hitting their time limit and devolving. Tonosama Gekomon kept attacking them afterwards, as well as Amanokawa Hiro, Espimon, and Jellymon, who joined the fight to no avail. An angry Gammamon evolved into Gulus Gammamon, effortlessly defeating Tonosama Gekomon. After the battle, Gulus Gammamon demanded Hiro sync with him, claiming it was the only way to save Kiyoshiro. He warned that if they didn’t, he would not hesitate to kill Tonosama Gekomon, along with all the people who had been absorbed. However, Gekomon intervened just in time, preventing Gulus Gammamon from delivering the final blow and using Crash Symphony to restore everyone who had been absorbed.

After Gulus Gammamon returned to Gammamon, Gekomon restored all the people Tonosama Gekomon attacked. The latter threw a fit, since he wanted Jiraiya to ride on his back, but Angoramon convinced Gekomon he could be Jiraiya instead, and Tonosama Gekomon accepted that. Finally, Soma Meru invited them to live with her, as living with monsters felt like something out of an anime.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Tonosama Gekomon appeared in Episode 29, "The Sleeping Tyrant! Tonosama Gekomon". He is the lord of Tonosama Gekomon's Castle who has been asleep for 300 years after losing a karaoke match and needs to hear a singing voice more beautiful than the one that defeated him to wake up. Pico Devimon takes the chance to set a trap for the Chosen Children by telling the Gekomon that serve him that he had seen an amazing singer, who would turn out to be Tachikawa Mimi.

After Mimi came back to her senses after acting very spoiled in the castle, she asked everyone for forgiveness on the same stage where Tonosama Gekomon slept. Accepting her feelings, everyone, including the Gekomon and Otamamon, then encouraged her to sing. Her song indeed woke up Tonosama Gekomon, but he was mad at that as he was sleeping peacefully.

Tonosama Gekomon is the thirty-fifth obligatory boss of the game, fighting Agumon, Gomamon and Palmon at the end of Episode 29, "The Sleeping Tyrant! Tonosama Gekomon". He can deal damage to one party Digimon with Tonosama Jump, deal damage to one Digimon and Shock with Fumitsuke, and deal multiple hits to all the Party Digimon with Kobushi Tone. Upon being defeated, he drops the Sticky Guard DigiPiece, which lowers the chance of the equipped Digimon of being affected by the Sticky status condition.

After beating Tonosama Gekomon, he promised never to go crazy again then fainted, with Mimi wishing he'd never wake up again.

The Chosen Children returned to Tonosama Gekomon's Castle in Sub-Episode 13, "Karaoke Competition". Two Gekomon and an Otamamon recieved them at the castle's gate and immediately asked them for help, as, while they were happy their lord had woken up thanks to Mimi's song, now he would sing karaoke from dawn to dusk and wouldn't let his retainers sleep. As such, they wanted Mimi to beat him in a karaoke contest, so he would lose his confidence. However, Izumi Koshiro pointed out that would only make him focus more on practicing karaoke. The Gekomon and Otamamon agreed, and then another Otamamon appeared, who had found the manual to make a medicine that would change the volume of Tonosama Gekomon's voice, something that would allow Tonosama Gekomon to sing and them to sleep. As such, they instead asked Mimi to help them make the medicine, which she agreed to compensate them for what she did before. The three materials for the medicine were hidden in the castle's basement, divided and stored in various places. The Chosen Children found all three and gave them to a Gekomon, and then an Otamamon made the medicine. However, this was not enough, as they needed Tonosama Gekomon to drink it, and mixing it in his food wouldn't work as he was picky about tastes. Mimi attempted to sneak behind Tonosama Gekomon, but he noticed her and, following a huge roar, attacked the Chosen Children.

Tonosama Gekomon is the final boss of Sub-Episode 13, "Karaoke Competition". He uses the same moves as before.

Upon being defeated once again, Tonosama Gekomon realized he was causing everyone trouble and decided to limit his karaoke training from morning to evening.

Tonosama Gekomon and two Dokugumon serve as the final bosses of the optional Digital Dungeon: δ, where they fight the Chosen Children together. Defeating them grants the player one each of Antidote, Skill Release, and Smooth Powder.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode[edit]

After activating the second Memorial Stella, Gekomon sends Taiga a mail, saying it kept getting hungrier as it evolved, and it left the Village of Beginnings to Railroad Plains to get more food but found little, so it was now stuck in front of a vending machine and out of money. By the time Taiga finds it, it had evolved once again into Tonosama Gekomon, and was extremely hungry since all the food inside a vending machine was not enough for a Perfect-level Digimon. After eating an enormous amount of Meat, it asked Taiga for fruit as dessert, and after that, for drinks. Finally full, Tonosama Gekomon sings for Taiga as a sign of gratitude, then returns to the Village of Beginnings.

There, it opens the DoReMiFa Mansion, a building with many rooms for Digimon to live in, although it had only one at the time. To add more, it needed construction work, so it wanted to work with Taiga to improve it, with Tonosama Gekomon as the landlord and Taiga as the manager. Meanwhile, Tonosama Gekomon had already arranged for a contractor for the construction work, though it had left to get materials for the toilet. As a way to thank Taiga, he gets to keep half the earnings, though as his work, he had to go get Digimon to live in the mansion. It soon praised Taiga for getting their first customer, Lalamon.

  1. "Samurai" (古強者 "Kobushi"?) is a pun on "Ornament" (小節 "Kobushi"?), in reference to the musical flourish Tonosama Gekomon uses while singing.
  2. While not stated, these Jyagamon and Tonosama Gekomon are likely EX7-045 Jyagamon and EX7-022 Tonosama Gekomon, respectively, as these are the only Jyagamon and Tonosama Gekomon released at the time of the chapter that have a play cost of 7 or less and the [Nature Spirits] trait, both conditions for EX7-037 Tlalocmon's effect. Furthermore, all the cards played by the priest NPC come from EX-07 Digimon Liberator.
