Taichi and Jo are pedaling on another of the amusement park’s swan boats, and Agumon and Gomamon insincerely apologize for not being able to help pedal, snickering about how their legs are too short.
After a while, they arrive at a large castle on a peninsula. The Digivice signal is coming from inside. They peek inside and see that there is a large group of mixed Gekomon and Otamamon rushing back and forth, looking frazzled. Gomamon asks why they’re so busy, and a passing Gekomon says that the princess wants food. He names a large order, and another nearby Gekomon contradicts him, saying she wants something completely different. A third runs by, adding another urgent order to the pile. The three start arguing, and as Taichi tries to stop them, an Otamamon says the princess wants a polka-dotted dress the most. Another hops up and argues for a ring.
Taichi and Jo comment that the princess must be incredibly selfish to jerk her servants around this way. Suddenly, a trumpet sounds and a Gekomon announces the princess. Wearing a large dress and a crown, Mimi walks out. She appears somewhat surprised to see them, and says that she’s being a princess.
A distance away, Pico Devimon is speaking about the castle. He tells Vamdemon that everyone at the castle is treating Mimi like a princess, and if this keeps up, her Crest of Purity will never activate.
At the castle, Taichi tells Mimi to hurry and change. She asks why, and Agumon says it’ll be too hard to walk in that dress. Mimi says she’s not going, and that they don’t even know if they can get home. She says it’s dangerous to travel out there anyway, and she has everything she needs there, and is the princess. Palmon’s voice comes into the room, asking what’s going on. Taichi and Jo are glad, telling her to come talk some sense into Mimi, until she walks into the room and they see she’s wearing a dress that matches Mimi’s.
Taichi sighs and says they don’t have time to play along with these jokes. Mimi yells that she’s not joking, and tells them to leave if they don’t have anything else to say. Taichi and Jo tell her they’re not leaving without her, and Taichi sits down, saying he won’t move from this spot until she’s ready to go. Agumon and Gomamon do as well. Mimi rings a small bell, and a massive horde of Gekomon pour in, asking what she needs. She tells them to show her guests to the exit, and they lift up Taichi, Jo, Agumon and Gomamon, quickly carrying them out despite their protests. Palmon looks sadly at Mimi.
After they’re thrown out, Jo wonders what happened to Mimi. Taichi says it’s because the Gekomon are spoiling her. The watching Gekomon say that’s right, and take them to an adjoining building to tell them what happened. They show a massive Digimon unmoving on the stage, and say that he is their ruler. Taichi is surprised that he’s still alive, due to his complete lack of movement. The Gekomon say that three hundred years ago, he was put into this state by the shock of losing a karaoke match. To revive him, a voice better than the one he lost to must sing to him. The Gekomon say that they can’t wake him up with their voices, but they heard that a human girl with a lovely voice was coming. They welcomed Mimi like a princess, and as she sang, the Gekomon king started to move. Unfortunately, part way through her song, Mimi forgot the words. The Gekomon made a feast for dinner, and asked Mimi to remember the words. She was delighted, and the next time she started to sing, she stopped again, saying that they need a mirror ball for this room and better decorations. The Gekomon obliged, but she said she was tired.
The Gekomon say that they give her everything she wants, and if they try to refuse she threatens not to sing. They ask Taichi and Jo to get the princess to sing. Taichi says he will do it, and everyone asks how he will persuade her. Taichi says that he will sing, and everyone is utterly shocked. He tries, but fails completely. Everyone else tries too, but they all sound terrible and the king doesn’t even stir. Palmon walks in and asks what happened. They asks if she’s noticed that Mimi is acting strangely, and after thinking for a while, she agrees that maybe she has.
Outside Mimi’s room, Taichi, Jo, and their partners have set up a recording mechanism to catch Mimi singing. Mimi walks into her room, and asks Palmon what’s going on. Palmon says she wants to hear Mimi sing, and starts the music. Mimi takes the microphone, but sees several cords snaking out to the balcony, as well as various bits of Gomamon, Agumon, and Jo who aren’t hiding as well as they think they are. Guessing what they’re doing, she screams loudly into the mic. She locks them and Palmon in the dungeon, and as she’s leaving, Sora’s silhouette is visible outside the window.
That night Mimi dreams of Devimon and Etemon, and the Gekomon off to one side. She tells them to help her or she won’t sing, and the Gekomon say she wouldn’t sing anyway before walking away. Next Taichi and Jo appear with their partners and Palmon. They also fade away, reminding Mimi what she did to them. Devimon and Etemon close in. Mimi half awakens in her bed, and sees Sora. Sora gently asks if Mimi knows what she did wrong, and Mimi says she does. Sora says that she knows what to do to fix it, and Mimi nods, before falling back asleep. A short time later, the light of her crest glowing brightly wakes her. She looks around for Sora, and sees that her room is empty.
Two Gekomon open the door to the cell in the middle of the night, saying that everyone needs to come. Mimi has gathered all the Gekomon and Otamamon in the karaoke room. She steps to the microphone and tearfully apologizes for her behavior, then sings. Behind her, the Gekomon ruler starts to move, and after a bit of singing, he wakes completely. He stands up and turns around, and the analyzer identifies him as Tonosama Gekomon. He says he was having a wonderful nap, and demands to know who woke him up. He starts to smash the walls and chase everyone, and the Gekomon say they wouldn't have woken him up if they’d known he was a tyrant. Tonosama Gekomon uses Koboshi Tone to smash a hole in the wall, and Palmon evolves to Togemon to save Mimi from a falling piece of stone. As he tries to attack them, Ikkakumon and Greymon launch attacks from outside, but he blocks them with little effort. Greymon evolves to Metal Greymon, and beats him with Giga Destroyer.
The narrator says that Mimi’s honesty with herself and recognition of her mistakes caused her Crest of Purity to light, and theatrically wonders why Sora doesn’t show herself to the others.
