Digimon Adventure[edit]
A Shellmon attacks the Chosen Children at a beach in "Explosive Evolution! Greymon". Agumon is the only of their Digimon who is able to hurt Shellmon, as he had eaten before. After Shellmon grabs Taichi with the tentacles on his head, Agumon evolves to Greymon and defeats Shellmon by throwing him off and hitting him with the technique Mega Flame in midair.
The same Shellmon reappears in "The Raging King of the Seas! Metal Seadramon", this time being able to speak fluently. He attempts to take revenge on the Chosen Children. Shellmon places a lifebelt on the top of his shell and cries for help, pretending that someone is in danger. When the children and their partners reach the lifebelt, Shellmon attacks again, but doesn't stand a chance against the Digimon in their Child forms and therefore escapes.

Shellmon will thank the player for freeing him and will join the Village of Beginnings where it'll put a Bulletin Board in the city, which is useful to see where to go next and when to recruit new Digimon, similar to how Angemon, Yuramon and Tunomon function like.

- Scumon (When its Poop Gauge is full).
- Vademon (When you scold it when its age reaches 15 days old, though this has a 50% chance of happening).
Finishing Technique-Hydro Pressure:

Digimon Adventure[edit]
Shellmon is the second obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 2, "Explosive Evolution! Greymon". For the battle, as in the anime, Agumon will evolve for the first time into Greymon for no SP cost and remain in the form for the battle. Shellmon can deal multiple hits to one party Digimon with Hydro Pressure and increase its defense with Shell Guard.
Seadramon and Shellmon serve as the final bosses of the optional Digital Dungeon α, where they fight the Chosen Children together. Defeating them grants the player one Meat.
Shellmon appears as a random enemy from Episode 12, "Clash! The Freezing Digimon" onwards.
A stronger Shellmon, known as Shellmon ★, serves as the second fight for the Chosen Children in the Colosseum's DigiOne Grand Prix in Sub-Episode 10, "DigiOne Grand Prix", alongside a Drimogemon and a Monochromon ★. It can use the same attacks as the previous Shellmon.
Shellmon reappeared in front of the Chosen Children after they returned to the Beach Area, now part of Spiral Mountain, in Episode 50, "Nostalgic Beach". Yagami Taichi realized it was the same Shellmon they fought at the beginning of their adventure, and Agumon, Gabumon and Piyomon went to fight them again, not caring about their tiredness, with their combined special moves defeating Shellmon despite the level difference, which the Chosen Children took as proof of them getting stronger.
Shellmon ★ appears as a random enemy from Episode 51, "The Raging King of the Seas! Metal Seadramon" onwards.
