Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]

Kosuke is the father of Inori and the deceased Yuta. He was once a member of Public Security and worked alongside Kuremi Kodai, but quit following the deaths of his wife and son 3 years ago (during the Digimon attack shown in Digimon Story: Time Stranger Prelude). He independently investigates digimon in hopes of discovering more about the event that killed his family. He is allergic to animals and whenever Inori brings an injured animal back to the household, he will kick it out.

He first appears when Dan/Kanan is sent 8 years in the past. Kosuke argues with Public Security, attempting to access a quarantined area to find Inori (who was roped into a Digimon-investigating livestream by Hiroko). With Yuki's help, he finds both Hiroko and Inori. If the protagonist is set to Yuki Dan, he will also tell him that he does not let any boys hang out with her daughter. Regardless, he offers Yuki to stay at his home as thanks. He later allows Aegiomon to stay there as well and gave him Yuta's clothes and a black beanie hat to disguise himself.

During the 8-year timeskip, Kosuke rejoined Public Security and works under its D-SAT branch, and is instrumental in the creation of the Giant Slayer. He joined D-SAT to exact revenge against the Digimon who took away his family, including his remaining daughter Inori. He gives his apartment to Hiroko before disappearing and cutting contact. In at least one timeline, before the Giant Slayer is deployed, Inori confronts him and tries to talk him down, but Kosuke is resolute, ordering the Agent and Aegiomon to be apprehended before deploying the weapon with Kuroi piloting it.

Following the destruction of the Giant Slayer, it was revealed that he was secretly mentoring Hiroko to investigate Digimon for him. His investigations eventually allowed Yuki and Hiroko to track down the Mugendramon who killed his wife. When the party goes to infiltrate the Akashic Records, Monica Simmons mentions in a phone call with Yuki that he realized the errors of his ways and is cooperating with the Digimon of Rebellion Village to help evacuate and protect citizens as Shinjuku was gradually being swallowed and fused into the Akashic Records.

It was heavily implied that in any timeline where the Shinjuku Inferno did not reset the timeline, Kosuke and Kuroi perished.
