Profile[edit]

Nil is one of the Chosen Children selected by the World Tree Enforcer.

Etymology[edit]

The name Nil possibly comes from the Chinese numeral for "zero" (零). Together with Ace, the two names may reference binary code.

Digimon: Source Code[edit]

In the prologue of the game, Nil battles Lilithmon of the Seven Great Demon Lords on Forest Island alongside their multiple partner Digimon. As the Royal Knights Omegamon and Magnamon later confirm, Nil initially had the upper hand in the fight against Lilithmon. However, Lucemon: Falldown Mode launches a surprise attack from the Reverse Dimension, causing everyone to be swallowed by a spatial rift and disappear.

Shortly afterward, Nil contacts the Player and asks for help after the Core Source Code Crystal, which maintains the stability of the Digital World, is shattered into twelve fragments by the Seven Great Demon Lords. Several characters refer to Nil as the Savior implying that she once saved the Digital World in the past.

In Chapter 1, the Royal Knights reveal that Nil has been missing since the battle against Lilithmon.

In Chapter 2, Etemon states that Nil was imprisoned in the Reverse Dimension by the Seven Great Demon Lords.

In Chapter 3, it is revealed that Nil's partner, Angemon, managed to escape the battle, though he was rendered unconscious by the explosion caused during the conflict with the Demon Lords. He also explains that Nil possesses the unique ability to evolve Digimon even if they are not her partners. Nil originally wielded the power of the Core Source Code Crystal, which the Player later inherits.

In Chapter 4, it is revealed that Nil and the Player have been friends since childhood. The Player eventually finds her in the Reverse Dimension alongside Tailmon and Omegamon Zwart. Nil explains that after being swallowed by the spatial rift created during the battle against Lilithmon's forces, she was imprisoned by Barbamon and Lucemon: Falldown Mode within a domain created by Barbamon known as "Pandaemonium". However, she eventually escaped and has since continued fighting the subordinates of the Seven Great Demon Lords throughout the Reverse Dimension.

Despite reuniting with the Player, Nil refuses to join forces with him and instead chooses to continue fighting alone in the Reverse Dimension. Before leaving, she encourages the Player to continue recovering the fragments of the Core Source Code Crystal and promises that they will meet again afterward. From that point onward, Angemon rejoins Nil.

In Chapter 5, an apparition of Nil appears during the hallucination caused by Belphemon's Illusion Trap, which the Player experiences while inside the Dark Island castle. It remains unclear whether this figure is merely an illusion created by Belphemon or the real Nil somehow interfering within the Player's dream.

In Chapter 7, the Player encounters Nil's partner Digimon, Patamon and Tailmon, on the Island of the Demon Nest. They explain that Nil left them behind and reveal that, while she was being held captive, Barbamon secretly infused her with evil energy. As a result, Nil's Source Code Bracelet became corrupted, preventing both Tailmon and Patamon from evolving. They also reveal that the corruption caused Nil's partner Digimon, Omegamon Zwart, to go berserk.

Shortly afterward, Nil suddenly appears alongside Omegamon Zwart to destroy a replica of Saber Leomon that is attacking the group. She warns the Player that Lilithmon is present on the island and insists on confronting the Demon Lord herself before departing once again.

Later, Nil and the rogue Omegamon Zwart reappear while the Player and his allied Digimon are battling Lilithmon's subordinates. After Lilithmon is ultimately defeated by Omegamon Alter-S, Nil once again refuses to join forces with the Player and leaves the scene.

In Chapter 9, a corrupted version of Nil known as Nil_Erosion appears during the final confrontation against the Seven Great Demon Lords on the Island of Calamity. During a conversation with Lucemon: Falldown Mode, he manipulates Nil by questioning her bond with the Player and turning her against him. Nil_Erosion then confronts the Player directly, rejecting his status as one of the Chosen Children designated by the World Tree Enforcer.

She subsequently triggers the Dark Evolution of Omegamon Zwart into Omegamon Zwart D in an attempt to destroy both the Player and the Royal Knights.

The Player then uses the power of the Fountain of Justice in an effort to purge the evil energy corrupting Nil. Although she is purified and attempts to suppress the dark power of Zwart D, it soon becomes apparent that she has not fully returned to normal even after Zwart D's apparent defeat. The World Tree Enforcer later explains that the group must obtain the Source Code Data Stream from the Island of Gods and Demons in order to cure the lingering effects of the corruption.

Before retreating, Barbamon and Lucemon: Falldown Mode steal the area's fragments of the Core Source Code Crystal and declare their mission accomplished.

Following these events, Nil is escorted to the World Tree by the Royal Knights.
