Vital Bracelet Series/Memory Cards
Multiple types of external memory cards have been marketed for Vital Bracelet Series devices. Each card contains a unique set of Digimon (or other characters, for non-Digimon cards) and other gameplay content to be loaded onto compatible devices.
Dim Card[edit]
Digimon Identified Memory Cards—abbreviated Dim Cards 「Dimカード」—are the first generation of memory card, introduced for the Digimon devices in the original Vital Bracelet platform (Vital Bracelet Digital Monster, Vital Bracelet Digivice-V-, Vital Hero).
Contents[edit]
Each Dim Card contains the following data:
- A roster of Digimon, arranged into a themed evolution tree; standard Dim Cards each contain 17 Digimon, while other varieties have fewer
- On many Dim Cards, one Ultimate Digimon from the roster must be unlocked by clearing the card's final Adventure Mission
- A set of 15 Adventure Mission areas featuring the card's Digimon
- A background wallpaper image that matches the theme of the featured Digimon
Usage[edit]
When booting up a Vital Bracelet for the first time, the user is prompted to insert a Dim Card to load its data and receive a Digimon to raise. The process of loading data from a Dim Card takes approximately 50 seconds; once this is complete and the Dim Card has been removed following the prompts, a Digitama will appear and hatch into the Dim Card's Baby I Digimon.
The Dim Card may subsequently be reinserted at any time, as long as there is currently an empty slot on the device, to receive another Digimon.
Additionally, when retrieving a Digimon from the Digital Monster Vital Bracelet Lab or Vital Bracelet Arena smartphone applications, the process may require that the correct Dim Card for that Digimon be reinserted into the Vital Bracelet in order to continue.
Digital rights management[edit]
The ability to use a single Dim Card on multiple Vital Bracelet platform devices is restricted. As a general rule, a Dim Card may only be used on a maximum of three Vital Bracelets, with the following caveats:[1]
- Only one of these Vital Bracelets may be a Vital Bracelet Digital Monster
- Any number of the three Vital Bracelets may be Vital Bracelet Digivices-V- or Vital Heroes
Once a Dim Card is used on a Vital Bracelet, it is considered "locked" to that device and these restrictions take effect.[2]
Use of Dim Cards in Vital Bracelet BE devices is not restricted in any way.[3]
Compatibility[edit]
The separate non-Digimon Vital Bracelet Characters devices use a variant of Dim Cards called Vital Bracelet Memory Cards (abbreviated VBM Card). Compatibility between Dim Cards and Vital Bracelet Characters devices, and conversely between VBM Cards and Digimon-centric Vital Bracelet platform devices, is not guaranteed.[1]
Vital Bracelet BE devices are fully backwards compatible with Dim Cards, as well as VBM cards. However, they are treated differently in some respects compared to Digimon/characters from a BEMemory, such as being unable to use or participate in the Vital Bracelet BE's Support system.[1][4]

(Canceled) | The Dim Card Set EX2: Digimon Tamers line was announced at DigiFes 2021 as a Premium Bandai-exclusive three-pack, with a planned release in December 2021. However, Premium Bandai soon announced that the contents would be reviewed out of consideration for the earlier Tamers Dim Card GP Vol. 1 line, and suspended further preorders.[10][9] The three-pack was subsequently replaced with the three individual Dim Card EX2 releases, and their Premium Bandai exclusivity was dropped.[11] The Guilmon and Renamon Dim Cards also had at least one change to their Digimon roster each. |

VS Dim Card[edit]
Each original-platform Vital Bracelet is also bundled with a VS Dim Card 「VS Dimカード」 (labeled on the card itself as the VS Memory). This card is used to conduct multiplayer battles with other Vital Bracelets. Its counterpart in the Vital Bracelet Characters line is the VS VBM Card.
To initiate a multiplayer battle:
- Player 1 inserts the VS Dim Card into their Vital Bracelet, to write their Digimon's data onto it (the process takes 50 seconds); after this, the Digimon disappears from Player 1's Vital Bracelet
- The VS Dim Card is inserted into Player 2's Vital Bracelet, on which the battle plays out
- After the battle, the result data is written onto the VS Dim Card
- The VS Dim Card is inserted into Player 1's Vital Bracelet, both returning the Digimon and saving the battle results onto the Player 1's Vital Bracelet (this must be done within 10 minutes of the battle, or Player 1 risks losing their Digimon)
VS Dim Cards are not compatible with the Vital Bracelet BE, which instead relies on the Vital Bracelet Arena to conduct all multiplayer battles.
BEMemory[edit]
BEMemory cards 「BEメモリ」 are the second generation of memory cards, introduced for the Vital Bracelet BE device platform.
Unlike the original platform's split between Dim Cards and VBM Cards, BEMemory cards are a single platform that encompasses both Digimon and non-Digimon franchises.
Be advised that individual Digimon BEMemory cards are still labeled "Dims" by Bandai (e.g. "BEMemory Gammamon Dim"), but they are not to be confused with actual first-generation Dim Cards. For clarity, the term "Dim" will be avoided in the following explanations of BEMemory cards except when referring to first-generation Dim Cards, but retained in the list of BEMemory cards solely in the context of the cards' names.
Contents[edit]
Each BEMemory card contains the following data:
- A roster of Digimon, arranged into a themed evolution tree; a typical BEMemory card contains 23 Digimon, but some may contain fewer
- A set of 12 Adventure Mission areas featuring the card's Digimon
- A background wallpaper image that matches the theme of the featured Digimon
Usage[edit]
When booting up a Vital Bracelet BE for the first time, the user is prompted to insert a BEMemory card to load its data and receive a Digimon to raise. The process of loading data from a BEMemory card takes approximately 50 seconds; once this is complete and the BEMemory card has been removed following the prompts, a Digitama will appear and hatch into the BEMemory card's Baby I Digimon.
The BEMemory card may subsequently be reinserted at any time, as long as there is currently an empty slot on the device, to receive another Digimon.
Additionally, when retrieving a Digimon from the Vital Bracelet Arena smartphone application, the process may require that the correct BEMemory Card for that Digimon be reinserted into the Vital Bracelet BE in order to continue.
Digital rights management[edit]
BEMemory cards no longer have any restrictions at all on the number of devices on which a single card may be used.[4]
Compatibility[edit]
BEMemory cards are not backwards compatible with any devices from the original Vital Bracelet platform (Vital Bracelet Digital Monster, Vital Bracelet Characters, Vital Bracelet Digivice-V-, Vital Hero).[4]
Differences in a BEMemory card's franchise affect the compatibility of their Digimon/characters with each other in gameplay. In battle, a Digimon may only have another Digimon as their Support, not any characters from other franchises, and vice versa.[4]

Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Adventure:[edit]
Izumi Koshiro found an unlabeled Dim Card in Gerbemon's junkyard in "King of Inventors, Gerbemon". He managed to load its data into his computer in "Clash, the King of Digimon", where it showed him and the other Chosen Children a map of the area they were in. Upon touching a slider, it instead showed a map of that same area but in the past, which Tailmon recognized, causing Koshiro to realize that the Dim Card scanned its environment and created a map and even recovered images of the past, which made Yagami Taichi recognize it as a real treasure.
