Akashic Records (concept)
- For the final dungeon of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, see Akashic Records.
Akashic Records (アカシックレコード Akashikku Rekōdo)[N 1], is a metaphysical concept that represents the idea of an archive that contains everything in the world, a compendium of all universal events, thoughts, words, emotions, and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future in terms of all entities and life forms, not just humans.
There are "Databases" of information that record historical information about the Digital World. The Memorial Stella are huge storage devices that exist in the Digital World recording everything that happens everywhere. They contain every bit of data and every memory of the world. This information is processed along with the entire Digital World and with that, endless possibilities are born. In a way, the system that contains the various Memorial Stella can be said to be the Digital World's Akashic Records.[1]
Having deciphered the Akashic Records, it is said that Ancient Wisemon has acquired omniscience.[2]

Anime
Digimon Tamers
Shibumi's library serves as a repository of knowledge concerning the Digital World.
Digimon Frontier
Baromon preserves records of the Digital World's history within ancient ruins. Using its clairvoyant abilities, it maintains records concerning the world's past, present, and future.
After Cherubimon's defeat, Baromon shows the Chosen Children the history of Lucemon and the Warrior Ten. It explains that Lucemon was sealed away by the ancient warriors and later manipulated Cherubimon into gathering the Digicode needed for its revival. These records allow the children to understand the connection between the Digital World's ancient history and its present crisis.
Digimon Adventure:
The Tree of Information houses information concerning the Digital World, which Wisemon and its fellow researchers collect and study. Within the tree is a chamber containing eight stone tablets bearing the Crest symbols.
In "The Mystery Hidden Within the Crests", the Chosen Children visit the tree after Gerbemon discovers the connection between these symbols and those displayed on their Digivices. There, they learn that their mission continues beyond the defeat of Millenniumon.
Manga
Digimon Chronicle
The New Digital World employs the Chronicle Layer System, which distributes data across three interconnected layers corresponding to the past, present, and future: the Ulud Terminal, Versandi Terminal, and Skuld Terminal. Movement between these layers allows travel across time.
Yggdrasill established this system outside the Host Computer itself to distribute the Digital World's data and manage Digimon according to their evolutionary characteristics.
Digimon Xros Wars
The Digital World possesses a database containing records of its history. These records are connected to the world's existence rather than merely serving as an account of past events. Changes in human hearts can affect the Digital World and alter its historical records, rewriting the history they represent.
Homeostasis analyzes the Digital World's data to predict future events, including the emergence of a two-headed dragon that will destroy both the Digital World and the Real World. However, its knowledge is not absolute: Wizarmon explains that Homeostasis possesses infinite knowledge without being all-knowing.
Digimon World Re:Digitize Encode
The Memorial Stella also appear in this adaptation, including in the chapter bearing their name.
Novel
Digimon Adventure
The Digimon Book of Revelations is a text concerning the history and fate of the Digital World. The first volume's prologue quotes Chapter 8, Verse 5, which describes the rulers of darkness seeking to seal the world's four pillars to obtain power, referring to the Dark Masters and the Four Holy Beasts, respectively.

Digimon Story: Lost Evolution
The Ancient Tree is the original source of data and Evolution in the Digital World. Kernel seeks to return the data of all Tamers and Digimon to it, then absorb that data into himself to become one with everything that has existed.
As part of this plan, captured Tamers and Digimon are absorbed by the Ancient Tree and combined into Erasers. These beings subsequently capture additional Tamers and Digimon, repeating the process. Kernel considers this a means of eliminating unnecessary data and reorganizing the Digital World.
During his confrontation with Shuu/Kizuna, Kernel draws upon the Ancient Tree's power to transform into Giga Devast, before subsequently evolving into Tera Devast.
Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue & Red
Lucemon describes the DigiColosseum as a place with a long history that stands at the center of the Digital World, beyond time and space. It states that the Colosseum will perish alongside the Digital World and can, in a sense, be considered the Digital World itself.
Princess Tres later reveals that Kernel has escaped from the Archive and repeatedly reboots after she attempts to erase it. The tournament's Legend Master, Koromon, leads Immortal Brave, a team formed from the refined data of heroes, rivals, and legends from throughout the Digital World's history.
Digimon World Re:Digitize
The Memorial Stella are enormous storage devices scattered throughout File Island that record the data flowing through the Digital World. They embody the time that has passed within the world, preserving its accumulated information. Together, they function as a counterpart to the Akashic Records.
Accessing their contents is said to make it possible to control the Digital World's entire data flow. However, disturbing the balance of this immense volume of information can expose the user to more data than an ordinary life-form can withstand.
During the story, Garbage Data disrupts the Memorial Stella's operation. Guided by Mikagura Mirei, Taiga and his companions investigate these disturbances and work to restore the affected devices.
Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode
The Memorial Stella preserve the data flowing through the Digital World. When Garbage Data disrupts their operation, Mikagura Mirei guides Taiga and his companions in restoring them. Taiga's aptitude, Decode, allows him to reactivate the affected devices. Each restored Memorial Stella transmits information to his Digivice, including a map of the surrounding area and additional glossary entries.
A separate Memorial Stella beneath the Colosseum in the Village of Beginnings provides access to Infinity Mountain in another Digital World. Unlike the devices involved in Mirei's investigation, this Memorial Stella is not connected to the others.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory
Mishima Erika and Wormmon become Hudiemon, incorporating the memories recorded in EDEN's Memory Server. By taking these records to the Digital World, Erika preserves the memories of the original world and its inhabitants from the reorganization of the Real World.
These preserved memories form the world experienced throughout the game's main story, allowing the original world's experiences to survive even after reality has been rewritten.
Digimon ReArise
The Kernel contains all information about the Digital World, spanning its past and future. Its data includes memories and is powerful enough to be used to remake the world.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger
The Akashic Records are a system that governs time, located deep within Iliad. Chronomon originally used its temporal powers to decipher their contents. After discovering references to a higher being responsible for the world's creation, it concluded that all events were predetermined and led the Titans in a rebellion against that being. Following its defeat, Chronomon was sealed within the core of the Akashic Records.
As punishment, Chronomon became incorporated into the system itself, condemned to mark the passage of time indefinitely. It subsequently sought death as a means of escaping this existence, even though its destruction would also extinguish the world's order.
During the final conflict, the system identifies those opposing Chronomon as intruders and repeatedly summons memories recorded in the past and future to eliminate them.
Trivia
- In Digimon Universe Appli Monsters, Timemon uses its temporal abilities to show the protagonists events involving Shinkai Denemon in the past. Although this provides access to historical information, Timemon's powers concern movement through and manipulation of time; they are not identified as access to an archive containing all events.
- In Digimon Survive, the Kemonogami World is sustained by human belief and contains locations formed from the memories of children who entered it in the past.
