Taiga found Vitium Adult close to the Memorial Stella of Signpost Woods. Kuga Yuuya and Mikagura Mirei were already there, and they were soon joined by Nicolai Petrov and Rindou Akiho. Yuuya said they were too late as it had already started growing. Akiho realized it was the same as the Vitium Baby they fought in Railroad Plains and it wasn't a Digimon. Nico saw it had Garbage Data with it and tried to grab it, only to get hit by Vitium Adult, who then ate the data and ran, leaving behind Digimon cloaked in a dark aura. Nico begged Taiga to get the Garbage Data back as they would need it and Mirei asked him to show Vitium Adult the extent of his power and "aptitude". Taiga then went further into the Woods, finding the Memorial Stella and Vitium Adult, who attacked him.
After being defeated, Vitium Adult opened a distortion then disappeared within it, and the Memorial Stella was restored. This made Yuuya realize that the Vitium could open dimensional distortions. Taiga also recovered the Garbage Data Vitium Adult carried, which Yuuya thought was the cause for the Memorial Stella not working. He also later added that the Vitium was likely the end result of experiments at GIGO Company and it would reappear at the Memorial Stella in Ancient Bone Swamp.
After defeating Metal Greymon, cloaked in a dark aura, in the Digitower, Vitium Adult appeared from a distortion. It then returned to it, taking Professor Petrov alongside it.
Following Professor Petrov's signal, the group found Vitium Adult again in a distortion in the Gravel Wasteland. However, it was in pain. Yuuya wanted to put it out of its misery but Akiho and Nico stopped him because they needed it to get to Professor Petrov. Mirei tried to approach it but she was stopped by black smoke, making her realize it was highly unstable, and wondered if it would be stabilized with Garbage Data. Akiho pointed out they needed the data for the Re:Digitize program. Yuuya instead gave it the Garbage Data they found earlier in the Wastelands, which he called Dummy Garbage. Vitium instantly ate it and stabilized, but not completely. Mirei told the group they could also find more Dummy Garbage at the Night Canyon, so the group decided to split up to look for it. After obtaining the Dummy Garbage, the group, sans Yuuya, reunited with Vitium Adult, and Taiga gave it all the Dummy Garbage, which it quickly ate. It then left the area and went further in, with the humans in pursue. However, it left through a distortion while unseen, leaving Megalo Growmon, cloaked in dark smoke, behind.
After obtaining all the Garbage Data, Mirei found Professor Petrov and his Rize Greymon confronting Vitium Adult in Binary Castle. The Professor admitted he brought Vitium into the world and asked it for forgiveness as he had Rize Greymon open fire on it. Suddenly, Vitium spoke, calling him a selfish being, shocking both Petrov and Mirei. It then knocked the Professor and Rize Greymon down, killing the latter. Nico rushed forward, but Mirei stopped him since they needed to defend themselves. Vitium easily defeated Mirei, Nico, Sashenka and Lady Devimon, followed by Taiga and Digimaru. Professor Petrov got back up, then threw something at Vitium Adult to weaken it enough for Digimaru to beat it. However, weakened as it was, it still managed to escape into a distortion.
