Xros Code
The Xros Code (クロスコード Kurosu Kōdo) is an abstract concept introduced in Digimon Xros Wars (Manga), described as an innate energy possessed by only a small proportion of humans. It represents their potential to pursue their dreams regardless of how unattainable they may seem, and enables them to operate a Xros Loader and perform DigiXros, combining multiple Digimon into a single entity. The human Generals possess this energy to varying degrees, with Amano Kotone possessing the strongest Xros Code, followed by Kudou Taiki.[1]

Digimon Xros Wars[edit]
The Xros Code is first explained by Amano Nene in "Xros Darkness!! Conspiracy's Dark Fortress!!". Its presence in Aonuma Kiriha, Nene, and her younger sister, Amano Kotone, is connected to their arrival in the Digital World. Dark Knightmon, who learned about the true power of DigiXros from his elder brother Bagramon, seeks to exploit this human energy to create the Darkness Loader, a device capable of performing Forced DigiXros and combining Digimon against their will.[1]
His plan requires extracting the Xros Codes of three Generals and combining them with a Xros Loader. He intends to use the Xros Codes of Nene and Kotone together with that of either Taiki or Kiriha. He cannot use Taiki's and Kiriha's together because both are too pure to be combined. According to Nene's explanation, losing their Xros Codes would leave them as ordinary humans, depriving Dark Knightmon of any further reason to keep them captive.[1]
To secure Nene's cooperation, Skull Knightmon and Deadly Axemon claim that Kotone's deep sleep is caused by an incomplete Xros Code which places a burden on her body and drains her vital energy. They tell Nene that extracting it during the creation of the Darkness Loader would save her sister. As Kotone is her only surviving relative, Nene agrees to assist them despite knowing that their scheme could bring disaster to the Digital World.[1]
Dark Knightmon subsequently reveals that his explanation was a lie. Kotone's Xros Code is not incomplete, but exceptionally powerful, surpassing even Taiki's. Rather than merely extracting it to save her, he intends to make Kotone his true General by having Shademon possess her and use her power to complete the Darkness Loader. Shademon, which he has concealed within Nene's shadow and nurtured through her despair, is central to this plan.[1]
During the confrontation at Dark Knightmon's fortress, Nene prevents Shademon from possessing Kotone by using the unfinished Darkness Loader to force a DigiXros between herself and Shademon, becoming Shademon (Nene Ver.). Her intervention disrupts the intended procedure. Although the resulting Darkness Loader can perform Forced DigiXros, it remains incomplete and cannot fully suppress the wills of the Digimon combined through it. This limitation becomes apparent when Duskmon continues to resist after being forcibly absorbed by Dark Knightmon.[2]
