Digi-Entelechy
Digi-Entelechy (デジ・エンテレケイヤ, Deji Enterekeiya) is a power that governs the evolution of Digimon. In Digimon Tamers, it takes the form of Culumon. The name incorporates entelechy, a philosophical concept associated with Aristotle concerning the actualization of potential.
Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Tamers[edit]
To protect the Digi-Entelechy and prevent the D-Reaper from awakening, Qinglongmon wishes for it to be concealed. The DigiGnomes transform it into Culumon, allowing the power of evolution to exist within a Digimon.
Culumon retains the ability to induce evolution in other Digimon. Through Shining Evolution, it releases the Digi-Entelechy's power as light that causes the Digimon it touches to evolve.
Novel[edit]
Digimon Tamers 1984[edit]
During the Wild Bunch's research into artificial life, SHIBUMI introduces the concept of entelechy while discussing how Digimon might evolve. He suggests that the external force needed to give life to something lifeless need not be incorporated into the Digimon themselves, since it already exists in the Real World.
Tao develops an evolution algorithm called Entelechy. After the project is discontinued, he discovers that SHIBUMI secretly added further algorithms to it, leaving the modified program on a floppy disk. Culumon does not appear in the story.
