A Zone (ゾーン, Zōn) is a region comparable to a country in the Digital World of Digimon Xros Wars and its related works. In the anime, the Digital World is divided into 108 Zones, each represented by a fragment of the Code Crown. The Zones exist separately from one another within Digital Space.
Overview[edit]
Zones vary considerably in their environments and inhabitants. They include forests, deserts, volcanic regions, island groups and cities, as well as regions with more unusual characteristics, such as the confectionery landscape of Sweets Zone. Individual Zones contain their own settlements and political structures.
Each Zone has a Code Crown that serves as proof of the right to rule it. These objects are fragments of a single Code Crown that existed before the Digital World's fragmentation. Collecting all 108 fragments allows their holder to reconstruct and reshape the Digital World.
Possession of a Code Crown does not necessarily require defeating a Zone's ruler. Some are concealed or guarded, while others are entrusted to a person who passes a test or earns their guardian's confidence. The struggle to obtain them brings Xros Heart, Blue Flare, Twilight and the Bagra Army into conflict.
The space separating the Zones is known as Digital Space. Travel between them can be performed by inserting a Code Crown into a Xros Loader and activating Change Zone (ゾーン移動, Zōn Idō), which opens a passage to another Zone.
Digital Space is dangerous for Digimon unable to protect themselves from its effects. Wisemon travels through it using the space within his Book as a refuge.

Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Xros Wars & The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms[edit]
The Zones were formed before the events of the series. As human digital technology advanced, the Real World and the Digital World drew increasingly close together. The resulting energy destabilized the Digital World's Core, causing the world to fragment into 108 Zones and the original Code Crown to split into an equal number of pieces. The warriors who had opposed Bagramon were caught in the collapse and became DigiMemories.
The Bagra Army attempts to conquer the Zones and collect their Code Crowns. Kudou Taiki and Xros Heart oppose its expansion, while Shoutmon hopes to gather the Code Crowns and become Digimon King.
After Xros Heart obtains the last unclaimed Code Crown in Sword Zone, the reformation of the Digital World begins. Bagramon subsequently seizes all 108 fragments and uses their power to replace the fragmented world with seven Lands surrounding the Bagra Pandemonium.
Manga[edit]
Digimon Xros Wars[edit]
The Digital World is also divided into Zones in the manga, and the opposing armies compete for possession of their Code Crowns. Several Zones introduced in this continuity do not appear in the anime. Unlike the anime, the manga does not depict Bagramon reconstructing the Digital World into the seven Lands.
