Digital Space refers to the empty area between Zones in the Digital World of Digimon Xros Wars. All Zones reside within this space, and it is exceedingly difficult to travel across it, as Digimon with smaller amounts of data or insufficiently protected forms will have their bodies begin to destabilize. Humans, however suffer no ill effects.
This Digital Space is more generally the space between the Human and Digital Worlds and is the place where War Greymon and Examon's DigiMemories were scattered after the collapse of the Digital World.

Digimon Xros Wars
Digital Space is the unstable space between the Zones of the Digital World, through which travelers pass when moving from one Zone to another. Most Digimon cannot maintain their forms there for extended periods. Wisemon travels safely through it by remaining within the space contained in its book, from which it conducts research into the Digital World.
In XW22, Lilithmon uses Arkadimon, an inhabitant of Digital Space that it treats as a pet, to attack Xros Heart during the army's journey between Zones. Separated from his companions, Taiki becomes stranded in Digital Space and is taken in by Wisemon.
Although Wisemon initially regards Taiki as a research subject, it ultimately sacrifices its book to rescue him from Arkadimon. Xros Heart defeats Arkadimon with Shoutmon X5, and Wisemon subsequently establishes its laboratory inside Taiki's Xros Loader.

Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue & Red
Digital spaces can be reached through Warp Portals during exploration of the LS-tou Zone. In Roundabout Amazon, Spadamon directs Taiki and his companions to one after they find a route guarded by ROG. It explains that the Pathfinder Device can be used from a digital space to establish connections with otherwise inaccessible spaces through pathways called "paths".
In Blue, the group encounters Kiriha attempting to connect to Lost Space, and fights Greymon and Mail Birdramon. In Red, they instead encounter Nene, who operates the device under Skull Knightmon's instructions to locate the seal of the ancient legendary weapon. Taiki's party fights Skull Knightmon and Deadly Axemon.
In both versions, Spadamon rejects the connection and overloads the device. The resulting explosion transports Taiki and his companions to Spider Nest Ruins. Other visits to digital spaces involve exploration and encounters with wild Digimon.
Trivia
- According to series composer Riku Sanjō, crossing the dimensional boundaries between Zones was also used to convey the hierarchy of strength among Digimon.
