Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 (デジモンアドベンチャーVテイマー01, Dejimon Adobenchā V-Teimā 01) is a manga written by Izawa Hiroshi and illustrated by Yabuno Tenya. It was serialized in V Jump from November 21, 1998 to August 21, 2003, and collected into nine volumes. The main story consists of 58 chapters, supplemented by special chapters. It was released in Spanish as Digimon Aventuras Entrenador V 01.
During early development, the manga was titled Digital Monster (デジタルモンスター).
Story[edit]
With the Digital World in danger, virtual pet enthusiast Yagami Taichi is summoned there by Lord Holy Angemon. In this world, he meets Zeromaru, the Digimon he raised in his virtual pet, who has evolved into a V-dramon. Together, they are asked to oppose Lord Demon, whose forces threaten the Digital World and who seeks to hatch a Digitama containing a Super Ultimate Digimon.
Overview[edit]
Taichi's adventure begins after he is refused entry to the D-1 Grand Prix because Zeromaru's species does not correspond to any Digimon programmed into his virtual pet. Suspected of using an illegitimate Digimon, Taichi is disqualified despite the pair's undefeated record. Shortly afterward, he is transported to the Digital World, where he discovers that Zeromaru is a living Digimon.
Although they frequently bicker, Taichi and Zeromaru share a strong mutual trust. Taichi directs their battles through observation and tactical planning, while Zeromaru puts his strategies into practice. Their undefeated record earns them recognition as the "100% Combination".
After meeting Gabou, the pair are taken to Holy Angel Castle, where Lord Holy Angemon explains the threat posed by Lord Demon. Accompanied by Gabou as their guide, they set out to collect the five V-Tamer Tags needed to gain access to Demon's castle. Their journey brings them into conflict with the Digimon guarding the Tags and the forces seeking to prevent their advance.
The conflict expands with the appearance of Saiba Neo, another human Tamer who becomes Zeromaru and Taichi's rival. Neo treats Digimon as expendable tools and is willing to delete those he considers weak. His partnership with Arkadimon places him at the center of Demon's plans. Other humans drawn into the conflict include Neo's younger sister, Saiba Rei, and the Alias III: Sigma, Goutokuji Mari, and Fujimoto Hideto.
As their opponents grow stronger, Zeromaru evolves into Aero V-dramon and later Ulforce V-dramon. His development is connected to his nature as an Ancient Species Digimon and the extraordinary Overwrites produced by his emotions. The battle eventually culminates in a confrontation with Demon in his Super Ultimate form, with Zeromaru attaining Ulforce V-dramon Future Mode. Following Demon's defeat, Taichi and the other children return to the Real World.
Special Chapters[edit]
In addition to its main story, the manga features several special chapters. These include "Episode Une", "Double Tamer!! The Great Super-dimensional Battle!!", "Hot Blooded!! The Great Sparkling Battle!!!", and "Frontier Generation", which expand on the characters or feature crossovers with other Digimon works.
A later special, Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 ~New Courage~, was published on May 21, 2020. It reunites Taichi and Zeromaru for a new adventure in which they encounter Yagami Taichi and Agumon from Digimon Adventure:. The two pairs join forces against a mysterious polyhedron that produces hostile Digimon.
