Although it is covered by a fur pelt, it is clearly a Reptile Digimon. Due to its extremely timid and shy personality, it always gathers up the data that Garurumon leaves behind and shapes it into a fur pelt to wear. That fur pelt of Garurumon, who is feared by other Digimon, thus plays a role in safeguarding and protecting Gabumon. When it is wearing the fur pelt, its personality does a complete 180° shift. Its Special Move is "Petit Fire".

In "Save Everyone! Evolve, Tunomon", a Tunomon from the Digimon elementary school is able to evolve into Gabumon at will. However, because evolving scared its classmates, it refused to do so, and stayed on its Tunomon form, only evolving to save Orimoto Izumi from drowning and then to save its classmate, Caprimon, from getting killed by a log swept by a strong current. After the latter event, the others stop fearing Gabumon, and Tunomon decides to keep evolving until it becomes as strong as the Warrior Ten, though it still stays as Tunomon rather than Gabumon.

Welcome to Digimon World[edit]

Digimon Project 2021[edit]

In NEW DIGITAL MONSTER BEGINS, a Gabumon appears on a park, alongside a Tentomon.

While no actual Gabumon appears later on in the series, it nonetheless has several cameos. In Digimon Identified Memory, Gabumon appears in the illustration of the Gabumon Dim Card owned by Greymon's Tamer, and Pulsemon's Tamer is shown to have a Gabumon plushie alongside an Agumon one. In VITAL BRACELET Lab, a Gabumon overlay with its data is one of the many overlays that appears in the Vital Bracelet Lab when Palmon and her Tamer visit it.

Gabumon, alongside the rest of the original Adventure: Chosen Children and their Digimon except Izumi Koshiro and Tentomon, makes a cameo during New Courage, with Adventure:'s Yagami Taichi remembering he was with them before being surrounded by a strange light and finding himself in the V-Tamer Digital World. After the polyhedron is destroyed and Adventure:'s Taichi reawakens in his world, he finds himself surrounded by his friends once again, with Sora explaining that he fell and blacked out.

Gabou also makes a cameo, alongside Leo, as V-Tamer's Yagami Taichi explains to his Adventure: counterpart that they fought the endless hordes of Virus Digimon and could do nothing but seal the polyhedron that caused them to appear. He then properly appears at the end of the chapter after the polyhedron was destroyed, badly wounded but happy.

Digital Monster Ver. S[edit]

Digimon World[edit]

Gabumon appears as an obtainable Child-level Data type Digimon in Digimon World. When the Player starts the game, he's asked by Jijimon two questions, and if you say "No" or "Night" to his questions, you'll receive a Gabumon as your first Digimon, otherwise if you answer "Yes" or "Day", you'll receive an Agumon instead.

A Gabumon is found hiding in Misty Trees. After you completed Tonosama Gekomon and Jyureimon's quests, Jyureimon will dissipate and clear the fog of the Misty Trees making it easier to see, so a Gabumon will be revealed hiding in a corner of a cliff at the north of Misty Trees. When you talk to it, it will engage a battle and once it is defeated, it joins the Village of Beginnings, and assists Drimogemon in the Treasure House because it's bored and has nothing else to do. It only appears if you have recruited Drimogemon.

Several Gabumon also work for Orgemon as members of the "Bandits" that the Player has to defeat, as he's assaulted by some in the Great Canyon and are found guarding the Ogre Fortress. After the Player defeats Orgemon for the first time, the gang of Gabumon will decrease by two, and finally separate from their boss when it has been defeated for the second time in the Secret Beach Cave, home to Whamon.

Koromon evolves into Gabumon after 24 in-game hours have elapsed only if its Defense, Speed and Brains stats are higher as opposed to Agumon's HP, MP and Offense stat requirements. Gabumon can also evolve into 10 different types of Digimon depending on the stats and Care Mistakes made:

Finishing Technique - Petit Fire:

Gabumon spits out a fiery breath against the enemy, burning them.

Digital Monster Ver. WonderSwan[edit]

Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer & Cathode Tamer[edit]

Gabumon is a Child level, Data Attribute, Land Type Digimon. Naturally, if Gabumon battles with any Chosen Children Digimon (Agumon, Piyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon, or Tailmon), it can learn Variable Techs of Garurumon (Foxfire), Were Garurumon (Kaiser Nail, if it learns Garurumon's), and Metal Garurumon (Cocytus Breath, if it learns Were Garurumon's), as well as other Chosen Children Digimon's Variable Techs.

Digimon: Source Code[edit]

Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]

Gabumon is one half of the Royal Knight Omegamon and a servant of Yggdrasill. Unlike the other Royal Knights, Omegamon can split itself into Agumon and Gabumon at will, their smaller data size allowing them to move back and forth within Iliad without obstruction.

Yuki Dan/Yuki Kanan found Agumon close to an Outer Dungeons entrance in the back alleys of Akihabara in the sidequest "Between the Worlds". It was investigating the area with its partner, Gabumon, but lost it somewhere. The Agent offers to help it find its partner and they enter the Outer Dungeons, where they find Gabumon being attacked by an Orochimon. Agumon and Gabumon try attacking the Orochimon but are unable to harm it, so they instead Jogress Evolve back into their true Omegamon form to fight it.

After the battle, Omegamon returns to Agumon and Gabumon and they leave the Outer Dungeons, where they find Sagisaka Hiroko, Kuroi Shota and Shiroki Asuna. Gabumon wondered if they would dissect them though Asuna promised not to if they cooperated. Hiroko wondered who they were and, if the Agent says they're their partners, Agumon states they already have a partner and leave to not get in trouble with their boss. They then leave too fast to be caught, with the humans left wondering who they were, though they all consider them friendly.

After obtaining the mission "The World Tree's Cry", a Mochimon asks for the Agent's help in the side mission "A Missing Friend". In Central Town, the Agent finds it speaking to Agumon and Gabumon, explaining how its friend by the sea when something scared them and caused them to split up. However, Agumon and Gabumon couldn't explain what had happened to them as they weren't from Iliad. The Agent asked for more information and Gabumon pointed out Mochimon's friend was likely dead, which got both Mochimon and Agumon angry at him. The Agent offered to help and the trio left for the Abyss Area. There, they found Mochimon's friend, Punimon, being attacked by a lingering Titan Anomalocarimon. To fight it, Agumon and Gabumon fused into Omegamon.

After defeating Anomalocarimon, the group takes Punimon back to Mochimon in Central Town. While Mochimon wants to reward them for their help (with something it picked off the ground), Agumon refuses the reward, claiming they'd have no use for it, and instead is more interested in what the Titans wanted.

After the Host Computers give the Agent the ability to time jump to whatever period and place they want to go to, Yggdrasill asks for their help in the side mission "Royal Knights, Assemble!" in the Threshold Theatre. There, it sends them to get the Royal Knights to meet up, with Agumon and Gabumon by their side. However, the duo stays in Central Town while the Agent has to find the other Royal Knights on their own side missions. While they're there, the Agent can challenge them to card battles.

Agumon and Gabumon called the Agent back to Central Tower after they successfully got the 12 Royal Knights back together in the side mission "Alpha and Omega". However, Alphamon then appeared after them. Agumon and Gabumon recognized it though didn't understand why it showed up. Alphamon stated it must test their justice, its hostility surprising Agumon. While Alphamon stated it had met at least a version of them before, and said meeting helped it understand that there were good and evil humans, what it really learned was to continue looking for "justice". It agreed with Gabumon that the friendship between humans and Digimon were real but wanted to ascertain it once again with the Agent as the representative of humanity. Agumon and Gabumon stated they hadn't just played cards while they waited and fused into Omegamon to show the results of their training and pay the Agent for fulfilling their promise of bringing the Royal Knights back together.

After Alphamon left, Omegamon returned to Agumon and Gabumon, with Gabumon hoping they'll get along better in the future while Agumon wanted them to do their best so Alphamon wouldn't worry.

Gabumon is also an obtainable Digimon. It evolves from Tunomon, and can evolve into Garurumon, Ikkakumon, Drimogemon, Kyubimon, Geremon, or Gabumon -Yujo no Kizuna-.

  1. BT17-102 (DCG) treats Greymon's name as the same name as any Lv.3 or lower Digimon in its evolution cards, which could be any Lv.3 or lower card in the game.
  2. BT17-102 (DCG) treats Greymon's name as the same name as any Lv.3 or lower Digimon in its evolution cards, which could be any Lv.3 or lower card in the game, and BT11-043 (DCG) can transform any Digimon into a Scumon who retains the Level, Traits, Effects, and Card Text of the original Digimon.
  3. As part of Unchain's plan, several Partner Digimon are reformatted into Maquinamon in "BE THE BELIEVERS (Part 2)". Gabumon and Vorvomon are shown in the manga itself.
