Everyone is in varying degrees of annoyance and frustration because the fog is still clouding everything when Koshiro receives an email from Gennai. The group comes to watch as he says he found an inscription in the ancient ruins that could offer help in defeating Vamdemon. The inscription reads: “First, the sky will be concealed by a flock of bats. The people will chant the name of the Undead Digimon King. When the clock strikes the number of the beast, the Undead Digimon King will reveal his true form as the beast. Then the angels will let fly the arrows of hope and light at the loved ones of those whom they are sworn to protect, and a miracle will happen.” After reading it to them, Gennai wishes them luck.
The children don’t know what to make of that, but they all want to go see how their families have fared. Jo finds his brother Shin, who escaped the Bakemon’s raiding because he was sleeping in the closet. They meet up outside the apartment building with everyone else, and Koshiro has brought his parents. The group starts to move towards the convention center where everyone else is being held, except for Yamato, Takeru, and their father, who all go to find a way through the fog.
As they walk in, Shin asks Jo if he’s really going to be a doctor. Jo says their father wants him to, and trails off. Shin agrees, saying it would be impossible for him, causing Pukamon to angrily tell him to stop making fun of Jo. Shin reassures him that he’s not, but says it’s hard to be a doctor when one faints at the sight of blood like Jo does. The group goes into the building, and their Digimon quickly finish off the remaining Bakemon guards. Unfortunately, all of the adults are still unconscious on the floor. As they look them over, Shin confirms that their pulses are normal. As he checks, he tells Jo that he doesn’t have to do what his father wants all the time. Shin says he’s going to work on an isolated island that doesn’t have doctors, instead of at an expensive clinic like their father wants.
Yamato, Takeru, and Hiroaki are in a raft, but having no luck getting through the fog. Looking at the unconscious people, Hikari says it’s her fault the people are like this, and Tailmon says it’s her fault as well. Sora hears them and turns, warmly reassuring them that the people are just sleeping, and will wake up soon. She looks away, down at her mother, quietly asking if that’s true.
Yamato’s group arrived on Odaiba’s shore, and are being attacked by a large group of Gizamon. Gabumon and Patamon are fighting back, but there are too many. The humans climb into a car, but the Gizamon tip it over, piling on top. A large horde of Vamdemon’s bats awaken in a tree, and they swarm the Gizamon, killing them all. The confused people climb out of the car, and remember the first line of the text Gennai sent them, “the sky will be concealed by a flock of bats”. The flock funnels to Vamdemon’s mask, still on the ground where he was killed, and land around it.
In an empty room at the convention center, Koshiro is speaking with his parents. They say they’ve decided to finally tell him he’s adopted. Koshiro says he already knows, but tried to pretend he hadn’t heard anything, wanting things to stay the same. He says that the more he tried to pretend, though, the stranger it felt. He says he was drawn to his computer because he didn’t have to show anyone what he really felt like. His father says there’s nothing wrong with being into computers, and that in that regard, he’s just like his biological father. Koshiro’s adopted father says Koshiro’s father was a distant relative, and he and his wife died in a car accident. Koshiro’s adopted mother says they have recently lost their own little boy as a baby. They apologize for not telling him sooner, saying it was probably hard to deal with on his own. Koshiro says it’s alright, and thanks them for telling him in his normal formal wording. He then awkwardly tries to speak more casually, and his parents reassure him that he doesn’t need to change for them, and they just want him to be happy. Koshiro starts to cry, and hugs his parents.
In the room with all the people, Sora’s mother suddenly sits up. She starts to chant Vamdemon’s name, and stares ahead emotionlessly. A distance away, a large shadow has risen, wearing Vamdemon’s mask. He says he needs more energy, and his bats fly out, destroying Snimon and Tuskmon, bringing their power to Vamdemon’s shadow. In the center, all the sleeping adults have started to chant Vamdemon’s name, but are not responding to any outside stimulus. Shin says in physical terms, all the people are still asleep. The children recognize this as a line from the prophecy, and look at the third line again. Hiroaki says that in the book of Revelations, the number of the beast is 666. They determine this must mean six minutes and six seconds after six o’clock, and right now is six pm.
Everyone gets in the car, but as their driving Vamdemon is restored. His body breaks the building in his Venom Vamdemon form. Gabumon and Agumon evolve to face him, but he is clearly far more powerful. Pico Devimon laughes gleefully, saying that because he is undead, Venom Vamdemon is invulnerable. He directs Venom Vamdemon to the convention center, saying his meal is waiting there. Venom Vamdemon says he’ll start with Pico Devimon, and quickly swallows him before walking towards the center. Greymon and Garurumon evolve to Metal Greymon and Were Garurumon, intent on stopping him. They use their strongest attacks, but Venom Vamdemon just gets up, searching for more food. Metal Greymon and Were Garurumon order everyone to go warn the people at the convention center while they fight Venom Vamdemon.
At the center, Taichi asks if they can move the people, but Shin says it’s impossible in the time they have. Tailmon says their only choice is to stop Venom Vamdemon, and tells Patamon to come with her while everyone else rests to store up energy for their next fights. Patamon and Tailmon evolve into Angemon and Angewomon. In the car, Koshiro and Tentomon explain to Koshiro’s parents what evolution is, and about the different levels.
Venom Vamdemon knocks Metal Greymon and Were Garurumon backwards, and they revert to their child forms. Koshiro says they must have run out of energy. As Venom Vamdemon is about to crush them, Angemon and Angewomon attack with Heaven’s Knuckle and Holy Arrow. Koshiro looks at his analyzer, finding that Venom Vamdemon is of the Ultimate Level. Everyone is shocked to realize there’s a level above Perfect. They look at the prophecy from Gennai again, and conclude that Angemon and Angewomon are the angels mentioned. The ones they are sworn to protect must be their partners, and the ones they love most are their families. Koshrio points out that Takeru and Hikari have older brothers as well as parents, and that is who the prophecy probably refers to. They worry that it probably won’t be safe, but Taichi and Yamato are willing to try. Their siblings are frightened, but command their Digimon to shoot Taichi and Yamato with their arrows.
The boys look at each other, both admitting that they’re terrified, but hold on tight to each other and brace themselves. Their Crests glow and the angels fire their arrows. Their forms light up brightly, and Agumon and Gabumon are given a rush of power which allows them to warp evolve to War Greymon and Metal Garurumon.
