Profile

Nene is a mysterious girl who resides within the Digital World who comes and goes as she pleases. She is the General of the Twilight Army and specializes in information and reconnaissance. She keeps close tabs on both Aonuma Kiriha and Kudou Taiki and their teams. Upon being questioned about her stalking habits, she says that she likes strong boys who can fight.

Nene often serves as a walking tutorial for Xros Heart, informing Taiki about the Code Crowns, Zones, and various functions of his Xros Loader. On several instances of Taiki becoming endangered, she has informed Kiriha of his whereabouts and situation, prompting the other boy to rush off to his rescue.

Sushi anyone?

Although she doesn't openly flaunt it, Nene is extremely strong, possessing Digimon with high firepower such as Sparrowmon. In "Xros Girls!! The Mysterious Beauty Nene!!", she is shown to be sunbathing in the Island Zone... while Sparrowmon completely tears Neptunemon's army apart.

Digimon Xros Wars & The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms

Nene first appears as a mysterious girl who observes Kudou Taiki and Aonuma Kiriha as their armies travel through the Digital World. Knowledgeable about the Code Crowns, Zones, and the functions of the Xros Loader, she provides Taiki with information while keeping her own objectives concealed. Her Monitamon gather intelligence and monitor the other armies, while Sparrowmon provides aerial support.

Nene is eventually revealed to be the General of Twilight, commanding its Digimon through a black Xros Loader. However, her actions are dictated by Dark Knightmon, who exploits her concern for her younger brother, Amano Yuu, to make her cooperate with his plans. Believing that following his instructions will allow her to rescue Yuu, she assists him in gathering darkness, even when this brings her into conflict with Xros Heart.

In Heaven Zone, Nene and Dark Knightmon take advantage of the battle against Lucemon to collect dark energy. Their activities continue in Forest Zone, where they seek the power of Deckerdramon. After learning that Nene is acting to protect her brother, Taiki resolves to help her and follows Twilight to Dust Zone.

When Dark Knightmon imprisons Nene, Taiki and his companions attempt to rescue her. Sparrowmon's determination to protect her also brings him into cooperation with Xros Heart, allowing him to combine with Shoutmon and his companions into Shoutmon X5. Following her rescue, Nene breaks away from Dark Knightmon and joins Xros Heart with her loyal Digimon. Her Xros Loader subsequently changes from black to light violet.

As a member of Xros Heart, Nene takes a more active role in supporting Taiki and defending the inhabitants of the Zones. In Shinobi Zone, she performs a comedy routine with Hinomoto Akari that makes Karatenmon laugh, allowing the group to obtain the Zone's Code Crown. During the subsequent battle against Musyamon, she combines three red Monitamon into Hi-Vision Monitamon, demonstrating their strength despite their earlier reputation as failures.

After Bagramon takes control of the Digital World and reorganizes it into seven Lands, Nene continues fighting alongside Kiriha. When Taiki returns from the Real World, the three Generals unite against the Death Generals. Nene contributes reconnaissance, aerial support, and DigiXros to their campaign, while continuing to search for Yuu.

In Honey Land, Nene meets Mervamon, who is resisting Zamielmon's rule and attempting to save her younger brother, Iguneetmon. Nene combines Mervamon with Sparrowmon into Jet Mervamon to defeat Grandis Kuwagamon Honey Mode. Mervamon subsequently joins the army and becomes one of Nene's principal partners.

Nene also helps maintain the alliance between Taiki and Kiriha. Following Deckerdramon's sacrifice in Canyon Land, she joins the two in combining their Digimon into Shoutmon X7, with Sparrowmon forming part of the new DigiXros. Their cooperation allows the allied army to overcome Gravimon and continue toward Bright Land.

Her search for Yuu becomes more difficult when she discovers that he is willingly commanding Dark Knightmon's forces. Dark Knightmon has convinced him that the Digital World is a game in which neither death nor suffering is real, leaving him unable to understand the consequences of his actions. Nene repeatedly appeals to her brother and, during his confrontation with Taiki in Hell's Field, helps challenge the lies he has been taught. Yuu eventually recognizes the truth and breaks away from Dark Knightmon.

Nene remains with the allied army during the final battles against Bagramon and Dark Knightmon. When D5 threatens both worlds, she joins Taiki and Kiriha in using Great Xros to confront Darkness Bagramon. Her Digimon later contribute to the Final Xros that creates Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode. Following Darkness Bagramon's defeat, Nene returns to the Real World with Yuu and the other humans.

A year after Bagramon's defeat, she is living in Hong Kong and became an idol. Yuu has some pictures of her (that she most likely sent him) in his house.

Manga

Digimon Xros Wars

Nene is the General of Twilight, commanding her army through a black Xros Loader. She initially appears as an enigmatic figure whose activities intersect with those of Kudou Taiki and Aonuma Kiriha. Her Digimon include Sparrowmon, Monitamon, and Monimon, while her association with Dark Knightmon places her within his plans for the war against the other armies.

In this continuity, Nene has a younger sister, Amano Kotone, rather than a younger brother. Her determination to protect Kotone becomes central to her involvement with Dark Knightmon, who seeks to use a human-Digimon DigiXros to obtain the power of the Darkness Loader.

During the confrontation at Dark Knightmon's fortress, he attempts to use Shademon to possess Kotone. Nene intervenes and forces Shademon to combine with her instead, sacrificing her own freedom to protect her sister. The resulting form, Shademon (Nene Ver.), remains under Shademon's control, and Nene's Xros Loader becomes a Darkness Loader.

Although Nene is unable to act freely, her companions and the allied Generals continue trying to rescue her. Her fusion with Shademon becomes part of the escalating conflict surrounding Millenniumon and Zeed Millenniumon. When Shademon betrays Dark Knightmon and incorporates him into Zeed Millenniumon, Nene and Shademon are contained within its Moon Millenniumon component.

During the final confrontation, Kiriha and Kotone reach Nene and help restore her hope. Shademon evolves into Luminamon while still combined with her, producing Luminamon (Nene Ver.). The transformation replaces the darkness sustained by despair with light born from hope, and her Darkness Loader returns to being a Xros Loader.

After the DigiXros forming Zeed Millenniumon is undone, Nene is freed from the fusion. She and Luminamon remain separate beings, with Luminamon becoming her partner. Nene rejoins her companions as the allied forces confront the Digimon released from Zeed Millenniumon and bring the war to an end.

Miscellaneous

Digimon Xros Wars DIGIMON EXPO'25 Reading Drama

While Nene does not appear in the Reading Drama, she's mentioned several times.

After Akashi Tagiru asked why Nene wasn't with the rest of the Digimon Xros Wars crew, Amano Yuu explained that, during their final battle, Aonuma Kiriha had fought alongside legendary heroes that were all pretty girls, which left Nene in a sour mood. He then asked Kiriha to do something about it but Kiriha just bashfully asked him not to talk about his personal matters so lightly. After Hinomoto Akari Reloaded Mervamon, Yuu pointed out that Nene giving Akari her Digimon meant she must be really mad at Kiriha. With the battle finished, Kiriha pointed out they went through a harsh battle that would've been impossible if any of them were missing, though Yuu pointed out he would've been more at ease with his sister there. Kiriha swore he'd properly explain himself to Nene, which made Damemon think he was no good too.

Trivia

• At the "Hypnos Meeting 2019", Nakashima Yuuki left open the possibility that Nene and Kiriha could have a future as a romantic couple. However, according to the author, the characters might be looking for different things in marriage, making it hard to work out.
