Digimon Hunt

Digimon Hunt (デジモンハント, Dejimon Hanto) is an activity organized by the Old Clock Shop Man in Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time. Its participants, known as Digimon Hunters, use Xros Loaders to capture Digimon in DigiQuartz. Although initially presented as a competition between Hunters, its ultimate purpose is to prepare a Hunter capable of wielding the Brave Snatcher against Quartzmon.

Overview

The Old Clock Shop Man distributes Xros Loaders to prospective Hunters and provides guidance on their activities. Hunters enter DigiQuartz with their partner Digimon, encounter other Digimon, and capture them using their Xros Loaders. Captured Digimon can subsequently be Reloaded to fight or used in DigiXros.

Hunters pursue different objectives and frequently compete over their targets. Akashi Tagiru seeks to become the greatest Digimon Hunter, while Kudou Taiki and Amano Yuu also intervene when Digimon cause trouble or endanger humans.

DigiQuartz resembles the Real World, but time flows differently within it. It was created by Quartzmon using the Real World's data, and its influence imposes restrictions on the use of Xros Loaders.

Rules

The Digimon Hunter Rulebook outlines the restrictions governing battles in DigiQuartz:

• A Hunter can Reload only one Digimon at a time. Reloading another returns the previously active Digimon to the Xros Loader.
• The active Digimon can DigiXros with only one additional Digimon stored in the Hunter's Xros Loader.
• Hunters must not hunt Digimon belonging to another Hunter.

The restriction on DigiXros can be overcome by combining the power of multiple Xros Loaders, allowing additional Digimon to participate. The prohibition on hunting another Hunter's Digimon is not consistently enforced, and a Digimon can voluntarily leave its current Hunter to join another.

Although presented as rules of the Hunt, the restrictions on Reloading and DigiXros result from Quartzmon's influence over DigiQuartz. They cease to apply after DigiQuartz is eliminated.

History

The Old Clock Shop Man organizes the Hunt to prepare a Hunter capable of confronting Quartzmon. The final target requires the Brave Snatcher, a weapon formed from Bagramon's residual data and empowered by six heroes and their different types of Digivice: Yagami Taichi, Motomiya Daisuke, Matsuda Takato, Kanbara Takuya, Daimon Masaru, and Kudou Taiki.

When Quartzmon begins merging DigiQuartz with the Real World, the Hunters learn the purpose of their activities. A competition is held to determine who will wield the Brave Snatcher, while Xros Heart holds Quartzmon back.

Tagiru ultimately takes responsibility for the final hunt. He DigiXroses the damaged Brave Snatcher with Arresterdramon: Superior Mode, forming Xros Up Arresterdramon Superior Mode (Brave Snatcher). Together, they defeat Quartzmon and reduce it to a Digitama, bringing an end to DigiQuartz.

The Old Clock Shop Man gathers Tagiru, Yuu, Taiki, Aonuma Kiriha, and Hinomoto Akari for another hunt, fifteen years after the final battle against Quartzmon. Their target is Sakuradamon, whose rampage threatens the surrounding area.

Since DigiQuartz no longer exists, the previous restrictions on Reloading and DigiXros do not apply. The group forms Shoutmon X10 to defeat Sakuradamon, and Tagiru captures its data. The Old Clock Shop Man then takes the data so that Sakuradamon can be reborn as a Digitama.
