Legend-Arms (「Legend-Arms」 or formerly 伝説の古代武器, Densetsu no Kodai Buki ; lit. "Legendary Ancient Weapons"), also referred to as Weapon Digimon[1] (武器デジモン, Buki Dejimon), are Digimon that specialize in carrying out transformations into giant, peerless weapons[2] based on the master they choose, and which according to legend, "if held by an angel will save the world, and if held by a demon will destroy the world."[3][4]

Overview[edit]

Armamon is thought to be linked to the origin of the Legend-Arms. Its power is not limited to weaponizing itself, as it is able to forcibly transform the Digimon it cleaves with its greatsword into weapons. Armamon is also strict in determining a wielder, unless they are powerful figures like the Royal Knights.[5] Armamon: Burst Mode is the form Armamon takes on when it ascends, losing its weapon transformation abilities, but becoming a swordsman and enabling it to draw from its secret collection of powerful swords.[6]

Spadamon is the last, and the strongest, of the Weapon Digimon in the LS-tou Zone and was used as a trump card to pull the Zone from the edge of defeat from invaders. When its powers and memories were sealed and it was hidden in a different Zone, the Zone was later occupied by the invading army, and the defeated Weapon Digimon went into stasis.[1] Spadamon’s combat abilities are low, but it shows its true merit once it becomes a weapon.[3] Spadamon in its weapon form is wielded by two DigiXros forms of Shoutmon, Shoutmon X4S and Shoutmon X5S.[7][8]

Ludomon is among the few Legend-Arms that turn into a shield. Records show incidents of Ludomon protecting areas targeted by the D-Brigade.[9] Durandamon is the strongest sword among the Legend-Arms, and Bryweludramon is the strongest shield.[10] Durandamon and Bryweludramon both evolved into their Ultimate forms by taking in the data of mythology and video games.[11][12] Formed from the fusion of the two Digicores, Ragna Lordmon was made in the image of a warrior that both Durandamon and Bryweludramon imagined would be capable of wielding them. Despite Ragna Lordmon being a Jogress of these two Legend-Arms, both Durandamon and Bryweludramon retain their own wills, making Ragna Lordmon an extremely rare kind of Digimon.[10]

Digimon Card Game[edit]

Various Digimon, Digitama, and Option cards either directly mention or have the "Legend-Arms" group trait characteristic. These cards primarily focus on building towards the Legend-Arms Level 7 Ragna Lordmon, with ST-13 Start Deck Ragna Lordmon themed all around this aspect. Spadamon is a Legend-Arms Digimon with this trait.[13][14] BT10-059 Spadamon supports both the Xros Heart trait and the Legend-Arms trait.

Digimon Ghost Game[edit]

Zubamon appears in Digimon Ghost Game. It is wielded by Symbare Angoramon in its weapon form.

Digimon Beatbreak[edit]

Ludomon appears as Granit's partner Digimon. Ludomon can be wielded by another Digimon in its shield form, allowing said Digimon to effortlessly withstand nearly any attack, but this comes with the severe cost of draining its Tamer's e-pulse continuously and copiously to the point of inflicting Cold Heart. Granit's dying wish is for Naito's Gigasmon to wield Ludomon as a shield until he effectively dies from Cold Heart, which he tried to do to protect him from Kyo's Murasamemon. However, neither Granit could commit suicide nor Gigasmon could beat Murasamemon thanks to the timely intervention of Sakuya Reina.
