Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue & Red

Barbamon, also known as the "Emperor of Darkness", is the main antagonist of both versions. It establishes the ROG Organization to gather the Digicores needed to revive Armamon, intending to become its wielder and conquer the Digital World. It controls Zeed Millenniumon through an illusion technique and uses its apparent authority to assemble ROG's leaders.

After their rematches with Xros Heart in Crystal Volcano, Barbamon appears as a dark shadow and absorbs the leaders for the qualities represented by their data: Minotaurmon's "Power", Pukumon's "Wisdom", Minervamon's "Agility", Ice Devimon's "Cunning", Archnemon's "Cruelness", and Pharaohmon's "Tenacity". It exploits their ambitions and offers the prospect of becoming stronger through union with it. Their responses differ: Minotaurmon accepts in the hope of being reborn stronger, while Archnemon protests as it is absorbed. The heroes initially mistake the shadow for Zeed Millenniumon.

At Earth Fort, the shadow appears after Xros Heart defeats Zeed Millenniumon, revealing that the two are separate entities. It absorbs the defeated Digimon for its "Hatred" data, completing the collection, and reveals its true form. Barbamon explains that Earth Fort is merely ROG's gathering place: Armamon's true seal and the Omega Area are in Lost Space.

In Blue, Kiriha recognizes Barbamon and realizes that he had been affected by its illusion technique. Barbamon claims that Blue Flare served its purposes by helping activate the Condenser Towers and drawing Spadamon and its companions into its scheme. In Red, Nene attributes the false Skull Knightmon and Deadly Axemon, along with the manipulation of herself and Sparrowmon, to Barbamon's illusion technique. Barbamon mocks the group's efforts to recover their companions, treating their suffering as entertainment.

When Kiriha in Blue, or Nene in Red, challenges it, Barbamon immobilizes and expels the General from the LS-tou Zone to prevent further information from reaching Spadamon. It claims to have sent its victim to another Zone, but the destination is not shown. Barbamon also overwhelms Taiki and his companions, forcing them to retreat.

Its Shadow Guard subsequently occupies the Condenser Towers and guards the route to Omega Area. With the tower systems in Emergency Mode, a Protect Field prevents entry to or departure from Sky Fort. Xros Heart must restore normal operation before returning to its base and pursuing Barbamon through the entrance to Lost Space in Sky Garden.

At the System Omega installation, Barbamon loads the collected Digicores to revive Armamon, explaining that the darkness within them is required for the process. It regards the consumption of the weak by the strong as the natural order of the Digital World, presenting its sacrifices as an opportunity to be reborn stronger. When it suggests that Xros Heart could likewise sacrifice unwanted companions, Shoutmon insists that none of them is unwanted. Spadamon also rejects its assertion that Weapon Digimon exist to serve the strong, explaining that their purpose is to protect what matters to them.

Barbamon creates two additional versions of itself to fight Xros Heart while it remains at the controls and completes the revival. The copies claim to be both originals and copies, and describe a world filled with identical Barbamon ruled by the one wielding Armamon.

Although Xros Heart defeats the two copies, Armamon awakens. Barbamon orders it to test its strength by cutting down the Zone's Digimon, considering the LS-tou Zone worthless now that it has obtained the legendary weapon. Armamon rejects its greed and declares it unworthy to be its master, forcibly transforming it into its Galactic Sword instead. Barbamon is subsequently incorporated into Omega Armamon Burst Mode.
