Based on the fictional device of the same name, it reads physical Appmon Chips and reproduces the Appliarise, AppLink and AppGattai sequences depicted in the series.
It was released in Japan on October 8, 2016, alongside the beginning of the Appmon toy line. The standard release includes Gatchmon and Navimon Appmon Chips.
Design[edit]
The Appli Drive has a monochrome LCD screen measuring 16 × 48 pixels and a three-color LED backlight. Its front cover can be opened to expose the Appmon Chip reader. Appmon Chips are inserted into the reader and identified by the device, which displays information and plays sounds associated with the corresponding Appmon.
The device measures approximately 70 mm wide, 135 mm high and 43 mm deep. It is powered by three AAA batteries, which were sold separately. Interchangeable Appmon Pairing Covers based on Gatchmon, Dokamon, Musimon and Hackmon were released to customize its appearance.
Modes[edit]
The Appli Drive contains three principal modes.
Appliarise Mode[edit]
Appliarise Mode (アプリアライズモード, Apuriaraizu Mōdo) is activated by inserting an Appmon Chip into the device. The Appli Drive identifies the Appmon and reproduces its Appliarise sequence through animations, colored lighting and sound effects. The Appmon's name and Power value are displayed on the LCD screen.
Pressing the information button after an Appmon has been Appliarised plays additional information about it. Certain types of chips, such as Seven Code Appmon Chips, activate distinct sounds or animations.
App Link Mode[edit]
App Link Mode (アプリンクモード, Apu Rinku Mōdo) is activated by reading a second Appmon Chip after an Appmon has been Appliarised. The two Appmon are connected through an App Link, allowing the first Appmon to borrow the other Appmon's ability.
When the two chips form a recognized combination, the device instead reproduces an App Fusion sequence and displays the resulting Appmon. Other combinations produce a standard App Link rather than an App Fusion.
Ranking Mode[edit]
Ranking Mode (ランキングモード, Rankingu Mōdo) records the highest Power values produced in Appliarise and App Link Mode. The five highest results are retained and ranked by the device. Different animations are displayed depending on the position reached in the ranking.
Appmon Chips[edit]
The Appli Drive is compatible with Appmon Chips released through the retail, Gashapon, Shokugan and promotional product lines. Each chip supplies information including its Appmon, Grade, Attribute and Power value.
Unlike the later Appli Drive DUO, the original Appli Drive uses the standard Power value printed on the chip. The DUO applies a ×1.5 multiplier, represented separately as Power (DUO) in the Appmon Chip list.

Appli Drive SP Set[edit]
The Appli Drive SP Set was released on the same date with a suggested retail price of ¥6,000 before tax. It combines the Appli Drive with an Appmon Band and four Appmon Chips, including a Scorpmon chip with artwork exclusive to the set.

Appmon Pairing Cover Sets[edit]
Four Appmon Pairing Cover Sets were released for the Appli Drive. Each consists of an interchangeable cover based on one of the principal Buddy Appmon and a selection of associated Appmon Chips.
