A Skeleton Digimon whose whole body has become nothing but bones. It was a Digimon that put too much importance on fighting, and as a result of its combat instinct it clung to life despite its body rotting away, becoming Skull Greymon. As Skull Greymon doesn't have even a scrap of intelligence to balance its combat instinct, its existence is a threat to other Digimon. Its Special Move is an organic missile launched from its spinal cord (Ground Zero). Recent research suggests that this has evolved as "Oblivion Bird", which has a newly added tracking function, and both its power and range have been significantly upgraded.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Yagami Taichi's Greymon Dark Evolved into Skull Greymon in Episode 21, "Dark Evolution! Skull Greymon", due to Taichi forcing the evolution by overfeeding Agumon and putting himself in danger. In this form, he destroyed the enemy Greymon sent by Etemon, a part of the Dark Network and a part of the Colosseum with a single Ground Zero. However, Skull Greymon was now running berserk, and was a risk even to Taichi himself, forcing the other Partner Digimon to fight him.

Skull Greymon is the twenty-second obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 21, "Dark Evolution! Skull Greymon". He can deal damage to one party Digimon with Ground Zero or to all the party with Death Nail. Upon being defeated, he drops the Revive DigiPiece, which allows the equipped Digimon to use the technique of the same name to revive a KO'd ally with full HP.

After the battle, Skull Greymon ran out of energy and devolved to Koromon, who knew he had done horrible things and felt he had disappointed everyone. However, Ishida Yamato reassured him he had done nothing wrong, it was all Taichi's fault. Taichi accepted responsibility and asked for forgiveness, realizing he had felt like he had to fight by himself after obtaining the Crest of Courage.

The Chosen Children encountered another Skull Greymon in the very same Colosseum's underground in Sub-Episode 12, "Orgemon's Bone". It was trapped behind a huge door which Takaishi Takeru and Patamon opened in curiosity, and Orgemon was looking for its bones to make a new Hone Konbou as his own was in a bad state. However, the latter did not want to fight it, as a freshly revived Skull Greymon was supposed to be invincible; but Yamato decided to do so nonetheless to protect his little brother and Orgemon had no choice but to join in.

This Skull Greymon serves as the boss of Sub-Episode 12, "Orgemon's Bone". Orgemon is part of the player's party for this fight. It uses the same moves as Taichi's Skull Greymon.

Two Skull Greymon serve as the final bosses of the optional Digital Dungeon: γ, where they fight the Chosen Children together. Defeating them grants the player one ATK↑ Chip Ω and one DEF↑ Chip Ω.

A Poyomon in the back alley wanted to find a place where it could have adult fun. Taiga tells it of the Night Canyon Bar, which it wants to go to but it's too weak to do so. However, it wants to do so so much it stops caring for its own life, so it evolves into Skull Greymon. In that form, it couldn't stay in the Village of Beginnings, so it leaves for the Master Bar. There, it asks Taiga to buy it a drink, and Taiga accepts despite Skull Greymon being clearly drunk. Taiga's human kindness makes Skull Greymon cry because it knew it was a bad Digimon, and it tells Taiga not to let Digimaru become like it when it grows up. If Digimaru can evolve into an X-Antibody Digimon, Skull Greymon tells them their future is still ahead but they need an item to trigger it.
