| Everyone is walking through a dry, sandy place. They worry aloud that Etemon will find them, and don’t have anywhere to run if he attacks. Taichi tells everyone to stop being so glum, because they have a Crest now. Yamato skeptically points out that they don’t know if the Digimon can evolve with just the Crest. Taichi says of course they can, and tries to get Agumon to back him up. When he looks unsure, Taichi tells him to be more assertive and that he has to stand up for everyone on the battlefield. The children wonder how to evolve to the next level, and Koshiro says it will probably require lots of energy.
Later, Taichi is force-feeding Agumon a large amount of food. He says that everyone gave him the food because he needs to evolve, and everyone, sitting behind him, grumbles about how Taichi just took it. Agumon is incredibly full, and Taichi forces more into his mouth. Koshiro seems bemused by this turn of events, saying that in clubs and such, Taichi was always nice to the younger members like him. Sora thinks about a time they were playing soccer, and says that Taichi has taken a turn for the worse now that he has his crest.
Jo notices that his Tag is flashing, and Taichi sees some buildings in the distance. Jo says that must be where his crest is, and runs towards it. He trips on a black cable in the sand, and the children wonder why it’s there. Far away, Etemon stops his train car and traces a network disturbance to a sector near the Colosseum. He contacts a Gazimon there, and tells him to prepare a welcome party.
Jo traces his crests reaction to a large building. Koshiro says it looks like the Roman Colosseum. Mimi points out the large television and soccer goals, which the original Colosseum definitely didn’t have. Taichi says everyone needs to split up and search, and Agumon collapses, saying he needs to sleep. Jo says that his Tag is the only clue, and he’ll go look. Taichi follows him. Sora sees a soccer ball and suggests they play. Everyone happily agrees. They kick around until Taichi runs up and smashes the ball away. He berates them for playing around at a time like this, and says they’re leaving as soon as Jo finds his Crest.
Suddenly the television turns on and Etemon appears. Everyone runs over to one of the goals, except for Agumon who trips, still heavy from the food. Once everyone else is inside, the net drops to form a cage. Tentomon tries to break through, but there’s electricity coursing through the net, and he can’t break it. Etemon announced that a special guest will take his place, and another Greymon bursts through the wall. Agumon evolves, but as he fights, proves that the food he was stuffed with is hindering his movement. Etemon’s Greymon shoves him into the electrified net, and throws him to the ground to stomp on him. Taichi yells for Greymon to evolve, but Taichi’s crest isn’t reacting at all. Etemon’s Greymon throws Taichi’s around, beating him up. Gomamon uses Marching Fishes to distract the other Greymon briefly.
The group try to dig out of the goal, but run into a rock. Jo sees that his Tag is flashing again, and the rock turns into a Crest, sliding in. The passage opens up and the group escapes. The two Greymon are still fighting, and Taichi starts to run over to them. Sora reaches out to stop him, and he says this is his chance to make Greymon evolve. She reminds him that without the Crest reacting, he can’t evolve anymore. Taichi says he’ll make Greymon evolve, and runs out. Koshiro realizes that Taichi is putting himself in danger to complete the requirements for a Digimon’s evolution. Taichi throws a rock to distract the other Greymon. Sora and Yamato ask their partners to help Taichi, and they evolve. They run out, and Taichi’s Digivice and Crest start to glow. Greymon evolves into Skull Greymon. Everyone is horrified by his frightening appearance, and know that something must have gone wrong. Skull Greymon swats his opponent into Etemon’s screen with one hand, causing a large-scale malfunction of Etemon's network. He then tries to step on Taichi. Garurumon and Birdramon try to distract him, but he easily pushes them aside. Kabuterimon joins the fight, but Skull Greymon easily outmatches the three adult level Digimon.
Skull Greymon beats them, then starts running away from the city, out to the desert. Darkness starts wicking off him, then he shrinks. Tentomon says that he probably ran out of energy. Everyone runs up to see that he has turned into Koromon. Koromon sadly apologizes for attacking his friends. The other Digimon reassure him that it’s not his fault. Taichi says that it’s his fault, and that he was being reckless. He says sorry to Koromon.
