Kernel Zone

Kernel Zone (カーネルゾーン Kāneru Zōn) is a location in the Digital World.
Description[edit]
Kernel Zone is the third and last overworld of Digimon World 2, after Directory Continent and File Island. It is the smallest of the lot, with only three locations in it and no hub. Unlike the other two, it isn't located on Earth, and to access it, a Tamer must take a shuttle from Shuttle Port. Only the strongest Tamer who has reached Rank 9 is allowed to do so, and only Akira has ever managed to do it.

After Akira became the first and only Rank 9 Chief Tamer, all three Guard Team Leaders (Vandar, Cecilia and Skull) called him, explaining to him that he had surpassed them, who were only Rank 8 Commander Tamers themselves. Most previous challengers had only cleared the first round, rarely making it through the second, and only one other person had fought all three of them. As the best Tamer in history, Akira was now allowed access to the path to the Kernel Zone, as they had promised to the Guardians. Akira's own Leader then explained the Guardians were the beings that created the Tamers, taught them how to use Tamer techniques and evolve Digimon. The other two then added that their ancestors had met the Guardians when they arrived there and, in exchange for their help, promised them that they would show the strongest Tamer the path to the Kernel Zone, a new world. Akira was shocked to be said Tamer. Akira's Leader reiterated this but added they could not force him to go. Akira agreed to do it, as he wanted to know the truth of the world Estina Violet talked about. The Leaders then told Akira to go to Shuttle Port and take the shuttle there to Kernel Zone.
The shuttle took Akira out of the planet and into the Kernel Zone, where he could find the Guardians. There, Akira first entered Core Tower.
