Guard Team
A Guard Team is an organization formed by Guard Tamers in Digimon World 2. Every Guard Tamer must join a Guard Team to be considered a proper Tamer, and are given full use of their DigiBeetle (through the DigiBeetle Browser) and said Guard Team's facilities after joining it, as well as other facilities in Digital City such as the Digimon Center, Tamer Club and Colosseum.
Guard Teams exist only within Digital City. They fight to protect it from the Wild Digimon that threaten it, by attacking the Holes where they gather and destroying their Boss Digimon. They cooperate with Digimon that haven't gone Wild, such as those in Meridin Dome, as well as other human settlements in the Digital World.
Three Guard Teams exist, each focused on a specific Attribute. As each focus on a specific Attribute, they shun the one said Attribute is weak to, which means they will not accept them as the final result of a Jogress Evolution nor sell items to befriend them.
- Silver Cross, led by Vander, focus on the Vaccine Attribute, shun the Data Attribute.
- Blue Falcon, led by Cecilia, focus on the Data Attribute, shun the Virus Attribute.
- Black Sword, led by Skull, focus on the Virus Attribute, shun the Vaccine Attribute.
While the Guard Teams exist separate from each other, they constantly cooperate to protect the City and have no rivalries with each other, not even the one that represents the Attribute they're weak to. Any rivalries that exist are between individual Guard Tamers, and their separation seems to be there mostly for gameplay reasons.
After clearing the prologue, Akira is allowed to join any of the three Guard Teams. Other than the limitations of each, this also decides his starting Partner Digimon. Silver Cross gives Akira an Agumon, Blue Falcon a Patamon, and Black Sword a Pico Devimon, all of the same Attribute as their respective Guard Team. Bertran, Lin Lin Shao, and Luckyta will always be of the same Guard Team as Akira. Other than that, the choice of Guard Team does not affect the game in any way, and the other members of each Guard Team are preset.
