Digimon Adventure[edit]
After the Chosen Children left Toy Town, they made their way to a natural hot spring, where they lay rest for the night. During the night, Kido Jou decided to climb Infinity Mountain without any help from the others. While he did so, alongside Gomamon, Unimon came flying down to the ridge where the two are standing to drink from a waterfall.
At the same moment, a Black Gear shot through the air and lodged itself into Unimon's back. Unimon attacked, then Takenouchi Sora and Yagami Taichi came to the rescue with the aid of Birdramon and Greymon. To the surprise of Jou, his Digivice glowed, causing Gomamon to evolve into Ikkakumon, who then destroyed the Black Gear controlling Unimon.
Unimon later appeared along with other Digimon that the Chosen Children befriended during their journey through the Digital World to aid them against Piemon and his army of Evilmon. ("The Holy Swordsman, Holy Angemon")

Digimon Adventure[edit]
Kido Jo and Gomamon met Unimon while climbing Infinity Mountain in Episode 9, "Roar! Ikkakumon". Gomamon described it as a wise and peaceful Digimon, though Jo did not believe him. Unimon was just drinking water, so Jo and Gomamon decided to get close to it. However, a Black Gear then appeared and entered Unimon's body. Jo and Gomamon were then chased into the edge of a cliff by Unimon, but before they could get thrown off, Ishida Yamato and Takenouchi Sora arrived. This calmed Jo down, but then Unimon turned its attention to them. Jo then attempted to attack Unimon to remove its Black Gear, but was hurt in return, which caused Gomamon to evolve into Ikkakumon.
Unimon is the seventh obligatory boss of the game, fighting Ikkakumon, Gabumon and Piyomon at the end of Episode 9, "Roar! Ikkakumon!". For the battle, as in the anime, Gomamon will evolve for the first time into Ikkakumon for no SP cost and remain in the form for the battle. Unimon can deal damage to one party Digimon with Holy Shot and Uni Gallop.
Two more Unimon appear in Sub-Episode 9, "Mojyamon's Lineage". The Chosen Children found them in a cave, which they entered following a trail of ingredients which they needed for Mojyamon's hair medicine, and wanted to talk to the Digimon that had taken said ingredients to share them. However, the Unimon were driven mad due to eating said ingredients, forcing the Chosen Children to fight them.
The two Unimon serve as the final boss of Sub-Episode 9, "Mojyamon's Lineage". Like the original Unimon, they use Holy Shot and Uni Gallop.
After defeating them, Gabumon suggested waiting some time for them to recover. Afterwards, Mojyamon entered the cave, wondering what happened, and Palmon explained the situation to him. Realizing there was more than enough medicine left, Mojyamon took it, and Izumi Koshiro wondered why they took the medicine, which Tachikawa Mimi and Agumon believed was because they wanted shiny fur like Mojyamon's.
Another Unimon was one of the DigiOne Grand Prix contestants that the Chosen Children met outside the Colosseum in Sub-Episode 10, "DigiOne Grand Prix".
