Kido Jo, also translated as Kido Joe, is one of the protagonists of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure tri., and one of the supporting characters in Digimon Adventure 02.
Profile[edit]
Jo starts out a very high-strung and overstressed person. As the oldest of the Chosen Children, he often feels it's his duty to make sure everyone is doing okay. Though nervous and clumsy, he is considered very trustworthy and is an extremely responsible person.
Jo lives with his father and mother. His father is a doctor, as is the Kido family tradition. Jo has two older brothers that moved away from home after Digimon Adventure, Shin and Shuu; Shin is interning to be a doctor, like his father, while Shuu is studying anthropology in Kyoto University under Takenouchi Haruhiko, Sora's father.

Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Prelude to Digimon Adventure[edit]
When Jo was young, he lived in Hikarigaoka with his parents and older brothers, and attended Dai-go Elementary School. On 1995, he witnessed the fight between Greymon and Parrotmon. At the time, he was talking to Shuu, who was at a friend's house. After the fight, which was attributed to a terrorist bombing, his family moved to Odaiba because they didn't want to live in such a dangerous place.
Digimon Adventure[edit]
As a sixth grader, Jo was appointed group leader for camp. As the oldest of the kids, he felt it was his duty to protect everyone. This desire often clashed with his low self-esteem and his tendency to panic, but he tried his best to make himself a worthy member of the team. Though the other children tended to tease him, they appreciated him and knew that he can always be relied on.
Digimon Adventure: Our War Game![edit]
Jo was unable to help in the battle against Diablomon, as he was taking the required exams to pass onto a prestigious private middle school.
Between Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02[edit]
In May 2000, Jo arrived at the Digital World and gave up his Crest power to free the Four Holy Beasts. As a result, Gomamon lost the power to evolve to Perfect.
Later that month, Jo had a discussion with Shin on the phone, in which he told him of his plans to become a Digimon doctor.
Digimon Adventure 02[edit]
Now in his last year in a private middle school, Jo has grown up a lot and became a calmer individual. He is still the same trustworthy and responsible person he had always been, and still doesn't go anywhere without a first aid kit. He is a bit of an older brother figure to Hida Iori, who inherited the trait of Sincerity from him.
Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!! Supreme Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals[edit]
Jo was at cram school when a reaction from his Digivice caused him to vanish. He appeared in Chocomon's dimension, where he was deaged to approximately the age of five, the same age Wallace was when he received Terriermon and Chocomon's egg. After Chocomon died, he returned to his original age and location.
Digimon Adventure 02: Diablomon Strikes Back[edit]
While Koushiro rounded up the Chosen Children, Jo was busy trying to figure out if he has been accepted to his new high school. After he confirmed this, Jo rushed over and tried to give Daisuke and Ken his bicycle, so they could arrive at Rainbow Bridge faster. However, Daisuke commented that there were two of them. A girl rode by on a bicycle, so Jo chased her down to borrow hers. Both Jo and the girl arrived at Rainbow Bridge on time to witness the defeat of Armagemon.
25 Years Later[edit]
By 2028, Jo has become a doctor, but hasn't followed the family tradition all the way through; instead of being a doctor for humans, he is the first Digimon doctor. He is married and has a son, who has a Pukamon for a partner.
Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time[edit]
Jo along with Gomamon are seen dealing with Quartzmon in episode 78. Their appearance while silhouetted is animated and voiced unlike the previous cameos from other characters.

Before the events of the game, the Chosen Children and their Partner Digimon were kidnapped by Millenniumon.
After Akiyama Ryo defeated Vamdemon, Ishida Yamato, Jo, Yagami Hikari, Gabumon, Gomamon and Tailmon were freed. The Chosen Children then returned to their world, while their Partner Digimon joined Ryo to rescue the others.
Digimon World: Digital Card Arena[edit]
Jo in his 02 design appears alongside his partner, Zudomon, in Junk City's Battle Café after Ishida Yamato in Igloo City is beaten. However, he won't speak to the player until after Zudomon is defeated. Afterwards, he'll introduce himself and point out how the player beat Zudomon, which he himself can't do. The player tries telling Jo he's not as bad as he thinks he is, but Jo's convinced he's not good, though nonetheless challenges the player to a battle. Jo plays the First Aid deck, a Blue/Water deck that can recover HP at any time. Upon being defeated, he praises the player and considers his defeat a great lesson.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode[edit]
Jo sent Taiga a mail, under his initials, challenging him to a fight in the Colosseum as he beat his juniors before. They fight in the Colosseum 20th floor Free Battle: "N-nice to meet you!". There, he introduced himself to Taiga, only to immediately panic as he learned Taiga was older than him. He was convinced he and Gomamon couldn't win in a proper fight, but Gomamon decided to go for it anyways even if Jo wasn't ready. After the fight, Jo blamed Gomamon for their loss. Gomamon returned the blame to Jo, pointing out he didn't tell him what to do. Jo accepted this and apologised, as did Gomamon. They then left as Jo was about to be late for cram school and forgot to do his homework. This awards Taiga the Jo's Glasses accesory.
Later, under his full name, Jo sends Taiga a mail, asking him to go to the Colosseum 20th floor to ask him something. Before their battle in the 20th floor Free Battle: "The Problem with Integrity", Jo asks Taiga if he believes in himself, specifically if he followed the path he believed in, and wanted to find that answer through their fight. After Zudomon was defeated, Jo realizes that Taiga follows the path he believes in and his Partner Digimon evolved in response to that. That makes him trust Taiga enough to entrust him with two Chips of Sincerity, which are imbued with the power of his Crest of Sincerity.
Jo fights alongside Vikemon in the Heavenly Hall Tournament "Legendary Digimon Battle".
