Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Adventure[edit]
Fantomon was one of Vamdemon's most trusted minions. He first appears in "Shining Wings! Garudamon" piloting Vamdemon's chariot through the sky pulled by Devidramon. He travels to Earth along with Vamdemon's forces to hunt for the Eighth Chosen Child. He makes his first major appearance in "The Fairy of Odaiba! Lilimon Blossoms" and "Break through the Barrier! Zudomon Spark!" when he appeared in a subway when Kido Jo was present. He and a swarm of Bakemon began abducting the populous of Odaiba and detaining them in a convention center. Taichi and his Greymon tried to free the captives, but Fantomon forced them to retreat. He then destroyed the stereo that Takenouchi Sora was using to play the chants that were weakening the Bakemon. He ordered two Bakemon to capture Sora, but was surprised when the two Bakemon turned out to be Piyomon and Takenouchi Toshiko in disguise. Piyomon evolved into Birdramon and rushed Fantomon and his Bakemon which distracted Fantomon long enough for Sora and Birdramon to escape, but Toshiko was recaptured. Fantomon proceeded to raid apartments and captured everyone he found to detain at the convention center, eventually coming upon Izumi Koshiro's apartment, but a program sent to Koshiro from Gennai cloaked him and his family from view.
Later, he encountered Ishida Yamato, Sora, and Yagami Hikari. He summoned Tuskmon and Snimon to fight them. They defeated Yamato's Garurumon and Sora's Garudamon. Meanwhile, Fantomon choked Yamato with a chain. Sora tried to fend him off with a stick, but Fantomon effortlessly sliced it in half and knocked her away. Seeing all of this, Hikari announced that she's the eighth chosen child and surrendered. Fantomon recalled Snimon and Tuskmon and took her to Vamdemon who, with the aid of an unwilling Tailmon, identified her. When the other Chosen Children mounted a rescue in "Perfects' United Attack! Sparkling Angewomon" Fantomon initially went to fight Greymon, but fell back when he super evolved into Metal Greymon. Fantomon then was caught up in a blast from Angemon's Heaven's Knuckle attack aimed at Vamdemon and was killed.
Digimon Adventure 02[edit]
A Fantomon is among several Digimon that appeared in Japan disrupting Ishida Yamato's concert during "Holy Night, All Digimon Gather Together!". Inoue Miyako's Holsmon stunned him with his Udjat Gaze attack. Nefertimon and Pegasmon then used Sanctuary Bind to hold Fantomon and the others, allowing Miyako to return them to the Digital World.
Digimon Tamers[edit]
A Fantomon was among the shadowed Digimon who wanted Makino Ruki to be its Tamer.
Digimon Frontier[edit]
- Voiced by Michael Sorich and Dave Wittenberg.
Some Fantomon were seen at Akiba Market and the Trailmon Race. The Legendary Chosen were ambushed by two Fantomon outside of Cherubimon's castle. They captured all of the human spirits but Löwemon (Bokomon, Neamon and Patamon were hiding behind a pillar) who was able to use his dark powers to sense their auras just before they appeared near him and caused them to collide, shattering the orbs they kept the others in, thus freeing them.

Digimon Adventure[edit]
In Episode 46, "All-Out Assault! The Odaiba Fog!", several Bakemon attempted to kidnap people in Odaiba, led by Fantomon, as per Vamdemon's orders. Yagami Taichi, Yagami Hikari, and Greymon intercepted them, but Greymon was easily defeated by Fantomon and the trio had to run away.
After Takenouchi Sora tried to escape from being kidnapped, she was attacked by Fantomon and some Bakemon, the latter of which were easily killed by the newly-appeared Birdramon, who arrived alongside Takenouchi Toshiko. Out of options, Sora ran away on Birdramon, leaving Toshiko with Fantomon.
Fantomon observed as Sora told Taichi the kidnapped people were in the International Exhibition Center. He then intercepted her, alongside Ishida Yamato and Hikari, as they went to rescue the kidnapped people. He reasoned that it wouldn't matter if they found the eighth child if he just killed the others and summoned a Snimon and a Tuskmon to do it.
Fantomon, Snimon and Tuskmon are the 52nd obligatory boss of the game, fighting Gabumon and Birdramon at the end of Episode 46, "All-Out Assault! The Odaiba Fog!". Fantomon can deal damage to one enemy with Soul Chopper and Diabolic Star or lower one enemy's HP to 1 with Shi no Senkoku. After being defeated, they drop an Iron Fragment.
Despite being defeated, Fantomon summoned more Snimon and Tuskmon to continue the fight. Realizing the fight was unwinnable, Hikari confessed to being the eighth child and gave herself to Fantomon, who left with her.
Fantomon appears as a random enemy from Episode 47, "She Descends! Angewomon!" onwards, identical to its boss version.
