The DigiMemories (デジメモリ Dejimemori; Dub: DigiCards) are a set of external memory cards that appear in Digimon Xros Wars. The data of "legendary Digimon" who once fought against Bagramon are stored on them, and they can be used with a Xros Loader to summon those Digimon.
Overview[edit]
Design[edit]
DigiMemories are rectangular cards which have a similar form factor to Sony's Memory Stick format. Their label features official Bandai artwork of the Digimon that it contains, that Digimon's name name, the character for "Technique" 「技 Waza」 written inside a green hexagon, and one of their Special Moves displayed at the bottom.
Functions[edit]
The main purpose of DigiMemories is to summon the Digimon that they contain. To do so, the user inserts one into their Xros Loader, and declares "DigiMemory! (technique), activate!" 「デジメモリ! (technique)、発動!」 DigiMemories will only activate if the Xros Loader's owner does this, not anyone else.[1]
When the summoning process is initiated, digital screens appear on either side of the user, containing information such as Special Move descriptions,[2] in addition to a rotating magic circle that appears above the user. The middle circle is inscribed with a random sequence of Greek letters (ξοακωοξλξωκθοριξκααεϕχιοθπ,εϕχιοθπ,ξκλ), together with the outlines of the yellow and silver Pickmon at opposite ends and the Digimon's name written in katakana. After all of this pursues, a hologram of the Digimon stored on the DigiMemory then appears.
There is a limit to how often a single DigiMemory can be used. Immediately after use, the DigiMemory becomes inactive, which is marked by the image of the Digimon on the DigiMemory being blacked out. As long as it is blacked out, it cannot be reused.[3] Supposedly, they become usable again when in a different Zone.[4]
A summoned DigiMemory Digimon can be attacked and destroyed.[5]
DigiMemories still have some limited autonomy without being summoned by a Xros Loader user, and can speak in their DigiMemory form.[6] More powerful DigiMemories like Omegamon, Examon, and War Greymon are able to manifest holograms by themselves, float in midair (other DigiMemories can do this when the complete set is gathered),[6] and can even use powers like opening portals between the Real and Digital Worlds,[7] restoring another inactive DigiMemory, or projecting a protective force field. Together, all of the DigiMemories can use their energy to perform extraordinary feats, such as helping others enter the Code Crown.[6] Performing such feats drains DigiMemories of their energy and can cause them to become inactive when the energy is depleted.[5][6]

Digimon Xros Wars & Digimon Xros Wars: The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms[edit]
The legendary Digimon represented by the DigiMemories were once a chivalric order that protected the Digital World. When Bagramon learned of the Real World and decided to conquer it, the order fought against him and were able to hold him back for a time. However, the growth of digital technology in the Real World caused the two worlds to become closer and closer, eventually destabilizing the core and causing it to shatter into the 108 Code Crowns. This explosion reduced the knights to spiritual remnants which took the form of the DigiMemories. Most of the DigiMemories were scattered around the Digital World, but Examon and War Greymon's were left adrift in the Digital Space,[6] and Omegamon's was catapulted all the way to Kōtō in the Real World, where it was stranded in an alley.[5]
Kudou Taiki, Hinomoto Akari, and Tsurugi Zenjirou unknowingly discover Omegamon's DigiMemory when they follow Shoutmon's voice to the alley so that Taiki can help Shoutmon. Omegamon does not physically reveal itself and they do not see the actual DigiMemory, but it gives Taiki a Xros Loader to save Shoutmon and opens a portal to the Digital World.[7]
Kudou Taiki first discovers the DigiMemories while Xros Heart is in Island Zone. While Shoutmon X2 fights against Ebidramon, King Whamon informs the group of the existence of another "treasure" besides the Code Crown, the "memories of the legendary heroes", hoping that they will help them. Chibi Kamemon swims beneath Whamon, and finds and brings back a case of five DigiMemories in a small underwater shrine: Agumon, Garurumon, Holy Angemon, Marin Angemon, and Leviamon.[8]
When Bastemon joins Xros Heart, she brings two new DigiMemories with her from her castle in Lake Zone: Impmon and Tailmon. Taiki does not get ahold of these until their fight with Arkadimon in Digital Space.[1][N 1]
In Sand Zone, Revolmon and Pharaohmon put Taiki through a test in the underground ruins. Revolmon promises that if Taiki defeats Pharaohmon, he will win the treasure, but Taiki realizes that the test is actually a moral one, so he ceases the fight. Pharaohmon and Revolmon reward him with both the Sand Zone Code Crown and two more DigiMemories: Patamon, V-mon, Guilmon, and Darkdramon.[4]
Pinochimon once found the Metal Garurumon DigiMemory in Dust Zone. He eventually gives it to Taiki when Xros Heart and Blue Flare face Dark Knightmon.[9]
When Taiki, Akari, and Zenjirou are sent back to the Real World, Taiki hears Omegamon's voice and follows it to the alley in Kōtō, where they find its DigiMemory. Omegamon manifests by itself, which enables Shoutmon to manifest properly in the Real World. Omegamon explains the history of the DigiMemories and the legendary Digimon, and guides Taiki on how to Super Evolve Shoutmon. At Taiki's request, it uses the last of its power to open another portal to the Digital World to send Taiki and Shoutmon back, but it does not have enough left to do the same for Akari or Zenjirou. As Taiki leaves, Omegamon adds a Xros Heart sigil to his shirt. Omegamon's DigiMemory becomes inactive, and Zenjirou takes possession of it.[5]
While Xros Heart and Blue Flare are separated in Cyber Land, Aonuma Kiriha uses a fake DigiMemory to confirm his suspicions that he is dealing with an imposter Taiki. He tells "Taiki" that he wants to return a DigiMemory that he had borrowed from him, which "Taiki," unlike the real Taiki would, uncritically accepts. The fake DigiMemory explodes in "Taiki's" hand and forces him to reveal himself to be Splashmon.[10]
Much later, at the moment that Bagramon initiates D5, Akari and Zenjirou are near the point where Examon and War Greymon's DigiMemories are stuck in the barrier between Digital Space and the Real World. The two DigiMemories call out and tell them to grab onto themselves, and when they do, the DigiMemories project a protective barrier that spares them from being petrified like everyone else. Zenjirou and Akari go on to find Taiki, Kiriha, Amano Nene, and Amano Yuu, and bring them into the barrier as well. Once the six are gathered, Examon and War Greymon manifest themselves from their DigiMemories.[11] They recount the story of the order's battle with Bagramon, and how they had been stranded in Digital Space until they accidentally got caught on Tactimon and were then stuck in the barrier until Akari and Zenjirou found them.[6]
Examon, War Greymon, and the other DigiMemories in Taiki's collection combine their powers to restore Omegamon's DigiMemory. Taiki hatches a plan to save Shoutmon from Bagramon, by entering the Dark Stone inside Bagramon's body using the power of the DigiMemories and a slingshot. When the slingshot fires Taiki, Akari, and Cutemon, the DigiMemories accompany them and use their power form a bullet of light around them that lets them enter. Afterwards, all fifteen DigiMemories are rendered inactive from the power drain.[6]
Once the Code Crown chooses Taiki over Bagramon and the group emerge from inside Bagramon, the Code Crown's energy restores all of the legendary Digimon to life, and they all contribute to the formation of Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode.[6]

Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue & Red[edit]
DigiMemories are consumable, single-use items. When used in battle, the player summons the DigiMemory's Digimon to perform one powerful DigiMemory Attack 「デジメモリこうげき」.
Nine Digimemories, all of which feature members of the "legendary Digimon," are available.
Digimon World Re:Digitize & Decode[edit]
The DigiMemory system gives players the option of preserving their dying partner Digimon's data in one of five DigiMemory slots. When one of these DigiMemories has been equipped (via the DigiMemory menu) and the current partner Digimon's Special Move Power gauge has been filled, then during battles, the player has the option of pressing Triangle to summon the late partner Digimon from the DigiMemory to perform a powerful Summon Move 「召喚技」, as an alternative to using the partner Digimon's own Special Move.[12]
Each DigiMemory can be used a maximum of five times before becoming depleted.[12] Depleted DigiMemories can be recharged by Hagurumon in Jijimon's basement, in exchange for one Mysterious Digicore, once Hagurumon has been recruited from the Coliseum.
Additionally, equipping specific DigiMemories is an evolution requirement for three Digimon, as a stand-in for the traditional Jogressing/fusion:
- Paildramon (Decode only): Equip partner XV-mon with a Stingmon DigiMemory, or vice versa
- Omegamon: Equip partner War Greymon with a Metal Garurumon DigiMemory, or vice versa
- Chaosmon: Equip partner Darkdramon with a Bancho Leomon DigiMemory, or vice versa
Virtual Pets[edit]
Digimon Xros Loader[edit]
A series of toy DigiMemory cards that are compatible with the Digimon Xros Loader were produced and packaged with various Digimon Xros Wars toy lines and merchandise.
DigiMemories are used during battles, and must have been inserted into the Xros Loader before the battle begins. Selecting the DigiMemory option in the Special menu summons the DigiMemory's Digimon, who attacks using a one-turn-only battle effect that affects all enemies. A DigiMemory may only be used once per battle, and using one incurs a DMP cost.[13]
Each DigiMemory also has an AR code printed on its back, which can be scanned by Digimon X Arena machines.
A total of 24 DigiMemory cards are known to have been released. This includes:
- 14 of the "legendary Digimon" DigiMemories from the Xros Wars anime, packaged with LCD toys (including the Xros Loader itself) and the Digimon Xros Figure Series
- 7 DigiMemories featuring other Digimon who were not part of that set in the anime, but are major characters, packaged with the Sofubi Digital Monster Series figurines
- 3 limited-edition DigiMemories, also featuring other Digimon
Unused data for 34 more DigiMemory Digimon, who were never released as DigiMemory cards, has also been discovered within the Xros Loader.[14]

TCG[edit]
Digimon Xros Wars Super Digica Taisen[edit]
DigiMemory Cards are a type of card which was introduced in Set 3. When used during battle, the summoned Digimon activates a powerful special ability to support the player.[17]
In the arcade game, DigiMemory Cards must be scanned into the arcade machine along with the rest of the player's cards at the beginning of the game.[17]
As with the toy DigiMemories for the Digimon Xros Loader, the selection of DigiMemory Cards includes both the "legendary Digimon" DigiMemories as depicted in the Digimon Xros Wars anime, and various other major Xros Wars Digimon.
