Offmon is extremely shy and insecure. He constantly apologizes for everything, is terrified of people, and prefers to be alone, largely out of fear that he might harm someone if he evolves into Shutmon.

In April 2017, Yujin obtains an Appli Drive DUO and is assigned Offmon as his Buddy Appmon. Yujin and Offmon go to the aid of Haru and his friends, who have fallen into a trap set by Sateramon and Tubumon. Offmon nullifies Sateramon's abilities and defeats Tubumon. Afterwards, he and Yujin are brought to the secret base beneath the Kashinoki Bookstore, officially becoming part of the group. Offmon, however, trusts no one and keeps to himself despite the others' efforts to befriend him.

When the group goes on vacation, Offmon wanders off, fearing that he poses a danger to the others. Sateramon takes advantage of the situation to attack him and seek revenge. With the other Appmon exhausted after battling Tripmon, Offmon realizes that he is the only one capable of saving everyone and evolves into Shutmon, driving Sateramon away. However, he loses control and even injures Yujin, who ultimately manages to bring him back to his senses. To prevent further incidents, Offmon locks himself inside a box and seizes the first opportunity to run away. However, Sateramon attacks him once again, determined to settle the score. Yujin follows him, and Offmon, moved by his partner's trust, evolves into Shutmon once more and finally gains control of his power. Yujin then has Shutmon perform an Applink with Globemon, allowing him to defeat Sateramon once and for all.

In June, Yujin and Offmon sacrifice themselves to save their friends from the Ultimate 4 and are taken prisoner, but Leviathan forbids their execution. Cloud subsequently decides to use them as bait to lure the others into a trap. Haru and his friends defeat the Ultimate 4 and rescue Yujin and Offmon.

A few days later, Yujin and the others help Rei rescue Hajime, who is being held captive at the L-Corp headquarters. There, they learn that Leviathan plans to convert humanity into applications using Bootmon. The group then sets out to find Bootmon, who repeatedly escapes until Hajime discovers a way to alter his escape program, forcing him to travel to Gatchmon's location.

Just as Haru and Gatchmon believe the crisis has been resolved, Yujin orders a reluctant Shutmon to attack Bootmon, reverting him to an Appmon Chip. Yujin then reveals that he is an android created by Leviathan. Although shocked, Shutmon chooses to remain by Yujin's side. Yujin evolves him into Rebootmon and orders him to begin the process of materializing Leviathan.

Rebootmon is subsequently forced to battle Gaiamon until both are absorbed by Leviathan. Inside Leviathan, Offmon joins forces with Gatchmon, Dokamon, Musimon, and Hackmon in an effort to escape. During the final battle, Leviathan is defeated, but survives by transferring itself into Yujin's body and retreating to the Dark Web. Haru eventually convinces Leviathan to abandon its plans, but doing so also causes Yujin to deactivate.

With Leviathan gone, life gradually returns to normal, and Haru decides to take care of Offmon.
