Umematsu is an arrogant and rude man. He has long managed L-Corp on behalf of Leviathan, to whom he has proven extremely loyal.

Umematsu inherited his family's electronics store during the golden age of department stores, but was eventually forced to close it due to competition. Shortly afterward, Leviathan contacted him and offered its assistance in exchange for his service. With Leviathan's help, Umematsu's store underwent tremendous growth and eventually became a global enterprise, which he renamed L-Corp.
Despite being the company's CEO, Umematsu also performs tasks well outside his responsibilities, such as serving hot chocolate to Mienumon. In reality, he is little more than a puppet. In May 2017, Leviathan decides that he has outlived his usefulness and dismisses him, replacing him with the much younger Unryuji Knight.
