Appli Driver

Sorry for our appearance, but this article currently needs a lot of work.
An Appli Driver (アプリドライヴァー, Apuri Doraivā; Dub: App Driver) is a human who owns an Appli Drive or Appli Drive DUO and forms a partnership with an Appmon, known as their Buddy Appmon. Appli Drivers use these devices to perceive Appmon, enter AR-Fields, and direct their partners in battle through Appliarise, AppLink, and AppGattai.
Abilities[edit]
An Appli Driver can materialize Appmon by inserting Appmon Chips into their device and performing Appliarise. Through AppLink, they can connect two Appmon and combine their abilities. Compatible Appmon can undergo AppGattai to produce an Appmon of a higher Grade.
The Appli Drive also enables its user to perceive Appmon that have not been materialized and access AR-Fields. Individual devices provide additional interfaces associated with their Buddy Appmon's abilities, such as Shinkai Haru's search interface for Gatchmon, Karan Eri's game controller-like interface for Dokamon, Asuka Torajirou's holographic DJ console for Musimon, and Katsura Rei's holographic keyboards for Hackmon.
The Appli Drive DUO further strengthens the connection between an Appli Driver and their Buddy Appmon. Its Overdrive function converts the human partner's life energy into additional power for the Appmon. It also removes the standard Appli Drive's time limit for Ultimate-grade Appmon and, once the God Grade is unlocked, enables God Appliarise.

Digimon Universe Appli Monsters[edit]
Minerva selects the main Appli Drivers and delivers their devices through everyday machines. Before a device activates, its recipient must answer a personal yes-or-no question. The question and required response differ between individuals; accepting the device establishes their partnership with a Buddy Appmon.
Shinkai Haru, Karan Eri, Asuka Torajirou, and Katsura Rei initially receive standard Appli Drives. Oozora Yuujin, the fifth Appli Driver, receives an Appli Drive DUO directly and becomes Offmon's Buddy.
The Appli Drivers cooperate against Appmon affected by the L-Virus and investigate Leviathan's activities. Their devices allow them to communicate with Minerva and Shinkai Denemon, while their partners' different abilities support their investigations and battles.
After the Ultimate 4 destroy the first four Appli Drivers' devices, Minerva grants them Appli Drive DUOs following a trial. With these devices, they can use Overdrive to contribute their own energy to their partners' attacks.
Manga[edit]
Digimon Universe Appli Monsters[edit]
As explained by Shinkai Denemon, the main Appli Drivers are chosen by Minerva and receive devices that bind to them after they answer an individual question. Haru obtains his Appli Drive from a vending machine, while the other initial acquisitions are not shown.
Unryuji Knight is the exception: he is chosen by Leviathan, who supplies him with a copy of an Appli Drive. This device nevertheless allows him to use the same basic functions as Minerva's chosen Appli Drivers.
Denemon later uses Minerva's data to transform the heroic Appli Drivers' devices into Appli Drive DUOs. Haru and Rei receive theirs in "Cage!!", followed by Eri and Torajirou in "Overdrive!!". Yuujin already possesses a DUO, while Knight's device is also subsequently upgraded.
Video Games[edit]
Digimon Universe Appli Monsters[edit]
Unlike in other media, a great amount of Appli Drivers exist, coming from all over the world although their existance (as well as that of Appmon in general) is kept secret from the general masses. Anyone who obtains an Appli Drive (which works identically to other media) becomes an Appli Driver and is now considered to be part of a game where they all compete against each other. Said competition is centered in the Cyber Arena, hosted by MCmon, where they can enter the Starter GP and High-End GP tournaments, where the Appli Drivers have their Appmon fight against each other in successive matches. The strongest of all Appli Drivers is known as the Champion.
Appli Drivers are given two separate Ranks, connected to the two types of GP:
- A metal-based Rank. Appli Drivers obtain this Rank after entering the Starter GP (Beginner) and increase it by entering higher designations of the Starter GP. This Rank starts at Bronze and caps at Gold. It has no bearing on the story of the game, other than Kazuki/Itsuki being forced to enter the Starter GP (Beginner) at the beginning of the game.
- A letter-based Rank. Appli Drivers obtain this Rank after entering the High-End GP (F-Rank) and increase it by defeating the Rank Master of each respective Rank. This Rank starts at F and ends at S. Increasing this Rank is a major part of the game's story, as Kazuki/Itsuki chases the higher-ranked Naoto.

Appli Driver is a trait introduced in BT-21 World Convergence. It is given to Tamer Cards that were Appli Drivers in Digimon Universe Appli Monsters.
