As an online game Appmon, Onmon is obsessive about connecting with others. He adores connections and will even try to forcefully connect to others by starting battles against their will. Onmon is friendly, outgoing and upbeat, a complete opposite to Offmon, the offline game Appmon, which makes Offmon scared of him despite (or because of) Onmon's best attempts at befriending him. His connection with Kazuki/Itsuki is extremely strong, and he has absolute trust not only in them but in the bonds they've formed, believing them to be so powerful as to be unbeatable.
Onmon has the power to establish connections. He's highly proud of this power, believing it can succeed where other Appmon like Gatchmon have failed. As he undergoes subsequent AppGattai (mostly accidentally), said power grows stronger and stronger, becoming a major contributor to the fight against the Chaos Gates. At the same time, this power, and Onmon (then Bootmon)'s insistence on maintaining Kazuki/Itsuki's bond with Naoto, is also a major hindrance to Offmon (then Shutmon)'s plans.

Digimon Universe Appli Monsters[edit]
After Kazuki/Itsuki obtained their Appli Drive and returned home, the Appli Drive connected to their smartphone and downloaded the Online App against their will, which then Appliarised into their Buddy Appmon, Onmon.
Logimon was first formed during the Protecmon incident. Gatchmon had tried to search for information on the event but failed due to Protecmon's strong firewall, so Onmon decided to connect instead. Gatchmon realized that was an option: they could Applink to power up enough to break through Protecmon's firewall. Kazuki/Itsuki then Applinked them, which caused them to AppGattai instead into Logimon. Kazuki/Itsuki was surprised by this and realized this was what Tellermon meant, Gatchmon had to mingle with yellow (Onmon) to become his new self. Regardless, Logimon made it clear he was still the same, their Buddy Appmon. With his newfound power, Logimon forcefully logged into Protecmon's security and learned he was on the roof, though getting there would need one more unlock code, hidden in the AR Dungeon that appeared in the second-year classroom.
To connect to the Cyber Arena, as it was suffering a network outage and they needed to perform a Remote Cyber Arena battle with Kagefumi, Logimon told Kazuki/Itsuki to Applink him with one of Kagefumi's Craftmon copies. However, to their surprise, it instead formed an AppGattai into Bootmon. Kazuki/Itsuki apologised for doing that to Kagefumi's Buddy Appmon, but Kagefumi was fine with it since that was just a copy and Craftmon was glad one of them could help.
In the Hifumigaoka Chaos Gate, Shutmon hijacked Naoto's Appli Drive using the Chaos AR-Field, forcing Bootmon into an AppGattai and becoming Rebootmon. After Rebootmon took all of the Appli Drivers' Appmon and asked Naoto to go with him, Naoto agreed but with one condition: return all of Kazuki/Itsuki's Appmon, as if he had to not rely on Kazuki/Itsuki, then Rebootmon couldn't rely on their Appmon either. Rebootmon agreed and released them, including Bootmon, which to Ouji's surprise didn't make him revert, thanks to his ability to reboot and restore which instantly regenerated Bootmon's part, making him unneeded.
After Shutmon separated from Rebootmon, Kazuki/Itsuki defeated him in battle. However, even this wasn't enough, as he started rebooting once more. Shutmon said that they needed to become a God Appmon to stop one. Bootmon was glad Shutmon was finally willing to connect with him and both were fine with becoming one if it was to help their Buddies. Kazuki/Itsuki then had them AppGattai into Rebootmon once more, who promised they'd protect Kazuki/Itsuki and Naoto. Both Rebootmon then clashed against each other. Their intense fight pushed Kazuki/Itsuki and Naoto back to the Real World and removed the Chaos Gate. Ouji asked them if that meant Rebootmon was defeated and they tried to explain the situation as much as they understood it. Rebootmon then called Kazuki/Itsuki, who confirmed the virus-infected Rebootmon was defeated, though the Chaos AR-Field was still active and the virus-infected Appmon rampage was still ongoing, as Kayo confirmed. Ouji stated it was because the deepest parts of the system had been corrupted by the Chaos Gate and the infected Rebootmon spread the virus worldwide. Rebootmon could undo it with their powers of regeneration and rebooting though, returning the system to the state before it was corrupted. While Mio thought that was amazing, Ouji pointed out that the system contined the Artificial Intelligence of all the Appmon in the area, so resetting it could mean their Appmon would disappear, Rebootmon included. Oujamon stated the Buddy Appmon were aware of the risk, however, and chose to entrust everything to Rebootmon. Mio begged Rebootmon not to do it as Tutomon may disappear, but Tutomon found the request too heartbreaking, as this was something they were all prepared for. Mio cried out they finally got to meet and be together. Rebootmon asked Kazuki/Itsuki to give them the signal to reboot. Kazuki/Itsuki reminded them they said they'd always be together, and Rebootmon confirmed it, as their souls would always remain by Kazuki/Itsuki's and Naoto's side. With that acknowledged, Kazuki/Itsuki gave the order. Rebootmon thanked Kazuki/Itsuki and Naoto and told them they were glad to have met them.
The reboot succeeded, vanishing the Chaos AR-Field and the infected Appmon, alongside the Buddy Appmon. However, the Buddy Appmon then returned, with Bootmon and Shutmon separated. The credits then roll.
Bootmon does not appear in cutscenes for all of the postgame until the very final scene after Kazuki/Itsuki became the Champion. There, Bootmon explained that Kazuki/Itsuki taught him about the connection of hearts called "bonds". He knew the bond between them, Naoto, and everyone else was an unbreakable connection, but there still were many Appmon and Appli Drivers left to connect and they had to make bonds with everyone, which Kazuki/Itsuki agreed to do. The credits then roll.
In terms of gameplay, Onmon serves as Kazuki/Itsuki's original Buddy Appmon for their first deck. While he can be removed from this slot or from the deck at any time, his Appmon Chip can't be deleted. At certain points in the story (mentioned above), Onmon will undergo permanent AppGattai, upgrading his Appmon Chip to that of his evolved stages. Until that happens, none of Onmon's forms can undergo AppGattai in-battle, and attempting it will only perform an Applink. All of Onmon's Chips are different from each other, with different Attributes (Game > Social > Tool) and different Appli Skills.
