A man in Mihamakou introduces the Mihama Gang as people that aren't bad and patrol Mihamakou, but tend to go overboard.
Kazuki/Itsuki is intercepted by a hooded Mihama Gang member after they went out of the Water Purification Lab's AR Dungeon. Since he knew about AR Dungeons, Kazuki/Itsuki realized he was an Appli Driver. The member accused him of being suspicious and of being the one that caused the incident there in the first place, then of being an accomplice of a "cheeky guy", Naoto, that defeated their leader earlier. Kazuki/Itsuki got mad that the Mihama Gang member said Naoto was evil, which convinced him that Kazuki/Itsuki was allied with Naoto, especially with such an "evil-looking" Appmon (Logimon) with them. To "protect the peace of Mihamakou" (the first rule of the Mihama Gang) he then contacted the rest of the Gang through Appli Talk, then threatened Kazuki/Itsuki for getting on the Mihama Gang's bad side alongside Naoto. As his message didn't reach their leader, Ryouji, he then left to report to him directly in a warehouse area.
As Kazuki/Itsuki continued to the warehouse area, they met many more hooded men, all suspicious of them. Finally after reaching it, one of them punched Kazuki/Itsuki, then a group surrounded them and Logimon while making outrageous claims about them, such as having attacked the Water Quality Plant with 100 million Appmon. Kazuki/Itsuki corrected their misconception of them being Naoto's minion rather than friend, which didn't change them seeing Kazuki/Itsuki as an enemy of the Mihama Gang. To Kazuki/Itsuki's surprise, Kosomon then joined them and defended Kazuki/Itsuki. All of the Mihama Gang members were shocked after Kosomon mentioned Kazuki/Itsuki recovered his badge. Kosomon then asked the Mihama Gang members to let Kazuki/Itsuki take the Mihama Gang's trials, three tough trials that would get them recognized by the Mihama Gang and let them meet their leader.
For the first trial, a Mihama Gang member who thought Kazuki/Itsuki intended to drive out Ryouji and take over the Mihama Gang challenged Kazuki/Itsuki to a battle as the quest "Mihama Gang's Trial: Battle". He agreed with Kazuki/Itsuki accepting the trial if they intended to be the Mihama Gang's leader, in accordance to their second rule: "Pay the price for what you want", in this case, victory in an Appmon battle. After being defeated, the gang member confessed he was the weakest man of the Mihama Gang. This confused Kazuki/Itsuki as he had made his trial a battle, but he did so because he still loved Appmon battles regardless of his weakness. He then acknowledged Kazuki/Itsuki passed his trial. He also accepted that he had grown to like Kazuki/Itsuki.
The second trial came from a Kosomon, though not the same that Kazuki/Itsuki had helped earlier. As he explained, even Appmon could get member badges for the Mihama Gang. Once again quoting rule #2, Kosomon asked for a news scoop he could share on his secret forums app for his trial as the quest "Mihama Gang's Trial: News". He then sent Kazuki/Itsuki to Racemon, the speed-obsessed racer, as something newsworthy. Kosomon got what he wanted from Kazuki/Itsuki beating Racemon in a race and becoming the new #1 top speedster in Mihamakou, which Kosomon uploaded to his secret news app even before Kazuki/Itsuki could tell him, though embellishing that Kazuki/Itsuki now sought even greater opponents to become #1 in the racing world tour. Kosomon acknowledged this meant Kazuki/Itsuki passed his trial, then asked them to keep bringing him news for his secret forums app.
The third trial also came from a human member, who thought Kazuki/Itsuki were turned down from joining the Mihama Gang because they took Ryouji's snacks. This made Kazuki/Itsuki want to see their talk logs but that conflicted with rule #3: "Keep the Gang's secrets". He then sent Kazuki/Itsuki as an errand for their trial, the quest "Mihama Gang's Trial: Errand". Said errand was for the Mihamakou delicacy: the Mihama Special Crepe. Getting it to him clears the trial. That Kazuki/Itsuki got it to him instead of eating it themselves, despite clearly loving sweets, also gets them the gang member's admiration. He then offers to treat them to one in the future as a sign of friendship, which only reinforces that.
The Mihama Gang member that blocked the warehouse area seemingly let Kazuki/Itsuki in to go meet with Ryouji after they cleared the trials. In reality, though, it was an ambush, and Kazuki/Itsuki and Logimon found themselves once again surrounded by Mihama Gang members. Despite clearing the trials, they couldn't forgive them for being Naoto's "ally" and decided to handle them themselves, without Ryouji. However, that very Ryouji then showed up. He was mad at his underlings' actions, as they violated rule #4: "Trust your comrades". Ryouji made it clear he'd never run or hide then interrogated Kazuki/Itsuki on the fake information in the secret forums app. While Kazuki/Itsuki tried to clear that up, Ryouji didn't care and was adamant in following rule #1. He then Appliarised his Buddy Appmon, the Kosomon Kazuki/Itsuki had once helped. Kosomon congratulated Kazuki/Itsuki on passing the Mihama Gang trials then explained to Ryouji who Kazuki/Itsuki were, proving they weren't a villain. Kazuki/Itsuki explained they were only in Mihamakou for the D-Ranker battle and the Water Quality Lab incident was caused by an infected Weathermon which they stopped. Kosomon confirmed Weathermon testified the same on his secret forums app. With that, Ryouji was now fully convinced Kazuki/Itsuki was an important guest who had protected the town and was therefore subject to rule #5: "Treat guests with care". The other Mihama Gang members apologised and left. Ryouji then apologised himself and both Appli Drivers shifted their attention to the D-Ranker battle.
After Ryouji's loss and Kazuki/Itsuki's promotion to C-Rank, the Mihama Gang members showed up again, moved by their battle. Ryouji was sure Kazuki/Itsuki and Logimon could grow even stronger but they shouldn't rely just on their strength and Appmon Battles were not only about proving said strength. The Mihama Gang explained that he was talking about Naoto, who mocked Ryouji, saying that sticking with friends was what weaklings did. Ryouji disagreed, however, as friends made up for each other's weaknesses and shared their joy together. His words didn't reach Naoto, however, who believed that weaklings could never beat true strength, no matter how many gathered together. They then fought, with Naoto's way of battling feeling fierce and intense, outpowering Ryouji in a crushing, merciless victory. Naoto then left without even saying goodbye, as if he considered Ryouji beneath him. This went against the Mihama Gang's beliefs, that friends should rely on each other to achieve victory and support each other when in trouble, and Naoto mocked them for it. Ryouji realized in their battle that Kazuki/Itsuki understood the importance of relying on friends and gave Kazuki/Itsuki a Member Badge. As a member of the Mihama Gang, the rest would now help them whenever they needed it.
After Kazuki/Itsuki stopped Calendamon in the sub quest "Lady Eri is Here", Ryouji along with three Mihama Gang members showed up in Karan Eri's phone's AR Dungeon as Ryouji had seen a rumour that Eri was in Mihamakou. All of them were surprised to find the real deal there and she told them that Kazuki/Itsuki was working as her manager/bodyguard. The rest of the Mihama Gang were very jealous of them for that and Ryouji challenged them to a battle for the role, even though Kazuki/Itsuki was completely fine with just giving it to him. Eri's Buddy Appmon, Dokamon, then joined the battle and defeated the Mihama Gang, leaving only Kazuki/Itsuki.
With Kazuki/Itsuki's victory, Ryouji admitted they were the best for the job and accepted being happy just getting to talk to Eri which his underlings shared. Eri threatening them with a Dokkan Punch made it the best day of their life. Kazuki/Itsuki was shocked at how differently Ryouji acted around Eri. The Mihama Gang wished for Eri to have a good time in Mihamakou then left.
During the Chaos Gate incident, Ryouji accepted Wakaba into the Mihama Gang, acknowledging his spirit as something worth more than the gang's trials. Later on, a Mihama Gang member showed up at Hifumigaoka Middle School's rooftop, just before Kazuki/Itsuki entered the final Chaos Gate to tell them that Ryouji and Wakaba were holding back the berserk Appmon all over the town, and reminded them of rule #4: "Trust your comrades".
