AR-Field
|
An AR-Field (ARフィールド, AR Fīrudo) is a region of space located between the Net and the Real World created by Leviathan. They resemble a ruined version of the Human World, as they are simulations of the world Leviathan will create if it manages to take over it. The AR-Fields are the only place where Appmon can materialize without apprealizing. Humans that are in an AR-Field are simply referred to as "Drivers" whereas those that have an Appli Drive and are able to generate an opening to an AR-Field are called "Appli Drivers"[1]. Damage to the AR-Field landscape can affect the Human World, such as causing power outages and inducing irregular behavior in digital appliances. In the manga continuity, there are several themed AR-fields featuring special characteristics according to the Appmon species that lives in. A Chaos AR-Field (カオスARフィールド, Kaosu AR Fīrudo) version is also featured in the 3DS videogame.
