AR-Field

Sorry for our appearance, but this article currently needs a lot of work.

An AR-Field (ARフィールド, AR Fīrudo) is a region of space located between the Net and the Real World. Most AR-Fields are created by Leviathan, although some can also be generated by Appmon. They often incorporate elements related to the abilities or nature of their creator. Many AR-Fields resemble a ruined version of the Human World, reflecting Leviathan's vision of the world after its conquest.

The AR-Fields are the only places where Appmon can materialize without undergoing Appliarise. Humans possessing an Appli Drive are able to create gateways leading to them. Humans within an AR-Field are referred to simply as "Drivers", whereas those who possess an Appli Drive and can open access to an AR-Field are known as "Appli Drivers".[1]

Damage inflicted upon the AR-Field landscape can affect the Human World, causing phenomena such as power outages or abnormal behavior in digital devices. In the manga continuity, several themed AR-Fields appear, each possessing characteristics associated with the Appmon species inhabiting them. A Chaos AR-Field (カオスARフィールド, Kaosu AR Fīrudo) also appears in the Nintendo 3DS video game.

The AR-Field is the world where Appmon live. It is a parallel world, virtually identical to the Real World in construction. Appli Drivers can freely enter and exit the AR-Field by using their Appli Drive. While normal humans cannot see the AR-Field at all, those with Appli Drives can see hints of it even in the Real World as distortions. Said distortions mean that there's an Appmon on the same place in the AR-Field.

As the AR-Field serves as the second overworld of the game, Kazuki/Itsuki can find many things in it. Enemy Appmon appear in it as black shadows with Applink cables on them which hunt them, interacting with them will start a fight. They can also find Appmon Chip Fragments as small lights bearing the symbol of their Attribute, and treasure boxes. All of these spawn at random and can keep respawning indefinitely. They can also speak to NPC Appmon and Appli Drivers in it.

Through the AR-Field, Appmon can interact with and affect mechanical devices. This causes the creation of AR Dungeons, special locations inside the AR-Field that Appli Drivers can also enter. Defeating an Appmon that created an AR Dungeon in battle also deletes said Dungeon. As such, story-relevant AR Dungeons (which lack a "last boss") can only be cleared once, while non-story-relevant AR Dungeons can be explored as many times as the player wishes. Clearing an AR Dungeon for the first time awards Kazuki/Itsuki with a Clear Token. All the same random spawns in the AR-Field can also appear in AR Dungeons. Rather than the black shadows, some special AR Dungeons spawn red shadows, these are Ultimate Appmon of a much higher level than the rest of the random encounters. They move very slowly but are far harder to fight.

A special kind of AR-Field is the Chaos AR-Field.
