Ultimate 4

Ultimate 4 as seen in the Anime

The Ultimate 4 (アルティメット４ (フォー), Arutimetto Fō) are a group of four Ultimate Grade Appmon who serve Leviathan in Digimon Universe Appli Monsters. Personally selected by Leviathan as its generals, they are placed under the command of Unryuji Knight following his appointment as the CEO of L-Corp. Charismon acts as the group's leader.

Each member embodies a different application and confronts one of the four original Appli Drivers and their Ultimate-grade Buddy Appmon. Their power can be further enhanced by the L-Code, allowing them to overwhelm other Ultimate-grade Appmon.

The Ultimate 4 are assembled by Leviathan and presented to Unryuji Knight after he becomes the CEO of L-Corp. They subsequently observe as Knight tests the L-Virus on Batterimon and unleashes him upon L-Town.

After Karan Eri refuses Knight's offer to join Leviathan, the Ultimate 4 are ordered to eliminate the Appli Drivers. Each member engages a corresponding opponent: Charismon battles Globemon, Beautymon faces Oujamon, Fakemon fights Entermon, and Biomon confronts Revivemon. Although the Buddy Appmon initially withstand their attacks, Knight supplies the Ultimate 4 with the L-Code, greatly increasing their power. The four then overwhelm and delete their opponents while also destroying the Appli Drivers' Appli Drives. Before the Ultimate 4 can kill the children themselves, Oozora Yujin and Shutmon intervene and return them to the Real World.

The Buddy Appmon are later restored from backup data, while Shinkai Denemon and Minerva provide the Appli Drivers with the Appli Drive DUO, enabling their partners to surpass the power granted to the Ultimate 4 by the L-Code. Meanwhile, the four monitor the Appli Drivers as they travel through the Deep Web to rescue Yujin. At Charismon's request, Fakemon attempts to impede them by creating false apparitions, but the deception is overcome.

Knight then uses Yujin and Shutmon as bait to draw the Appli Drivers into another confrontation. Beautymon, Fakemon and Biomon separately target Eri, Torajirou and Rei, respectively, employing their individual abilities to torment and deceive them. However, the enhanced Oujamon, Entermon and Revivemon defeat the three members in their respective rematches.

Charismon, the group's sole remaining member, receives another infusion of the L-Code and battles Globemon. Leviathan then communicates through Charismon and declares that Knight, being human, is no longer necessary. Charismon turns against his commander and attempts to kill him, but Haru rejects Knight's belief that humans must unquestioningly submit to artificial intelligence. Drawing strength from his bond with Haru, Globemon ultimately defeats Charismon, bringing the Ultimate 4's activities as a group to an end.

The data of the four members is later preserved within their Appmon Chips. During the final conflict with Leviathan, their Chips are combined with those of their former opponents: Charismon with Globemon to create Gaiamon, Beautymon with Oujamon to create Poseidomon, Fakemon with Entermon to create Ouranosmon, and Biomon with Revivemon to create Hadesmon.

Manga

The Ultimate 4 make a collective appearance as the Ultimate 4 in the manga's omake chapters. However, they do not operate as an equivalent organization within the main story.

Instead, Beautymon and Fakemon are Appmon used by Unryuji Knight, with Fakemon being created when Katsura Hajime is transformed into an Appmon. Charismon and Biomon, meanwhile, are allied with the protagonists: Charismon is created through the AppGattai of Gossipmon and Sociamon, while Biomon results from the AppGattai of Docmon and Medicmon.
