Taiga meets a Kamemon with a fishing rod on Railroad Plains (Coast). After Taiga tells it he knows how to fish, Kamemon puts him to the test, though in reality this is a tutorial for the fishing minigame. Kamemon then accepts Taiga as its best pupil and gives him the Ordinary Rod. It then goes back to the Village of Beginnings. This awards Taiga the Novice Fisherman Medal. It later sends Taiga a mail, explaining once again how fishing works, as well as attaching two Meats, two Digimushrooms, a Smiling Apple and two Digianchovies to use as bait.
After the failure of Zudomon's fishing contest, Taiga asks Kamemon, as his fishing master, to help them. Kamemon calls Taiga an idiot for not asking it to go since he should always tell him about fishing contests. It then goes to the fishing contest. On Whamon's back, Kamemon tells Taiga they're over one of the best fishing spots and only an idiot would fail to get fish there. The contest is a success thanks to Kamemon's help, with lots of fish caught. After the fishing contest, on the shore, Zudomon, Marin Angemon, Ikkakumon and Kamemon watched Metal Seadramon and Whamon verbally fight each other.
