Apocalymon

From Wikimon
This is the 18th article to have been featured on the Main Page.

A mysterious Digimon that appeared when negative thoughts gathered through dark power. None know its true identity, and whether this thing is a Digimon cannot be analyzed. Although the reason for its appearance is unconfirmed, it is thought that it seeks to purge the chaotic Digital World and return it to "Nothingness". According to one theory, there is a prophecy of Apocalymon's coming in a book of ancient prophecies. Its Special Move is generating an endlessly spreading darkness, which returns everything to "Nothingness" (Darkness Zone). It is said that those engulfed by this darkness lose their sense of orientation in every direction, and are annihilated.

The player questions him on whether destroying the world would really ease its pain, but Apocalymon refuses to reconsider, as the program for destruction had already been started and couldn't be stopped. Afterwards, the Battle Arena opens.

Apocalymon is the fifth and last opponent of the fifth and final Infinity Tower's Battle Arena. Upon meeting the player, it asks him how he could ever feel its pain, the pain of those left during evolution. Because of what it's gone through, it hates everything, and said hatred will not disappear until it destroys everything in the world. Apocalymon plays the Desperate Space deck, a Black/Darkness deck with 5 attack, defense and evolution speed, which is the most evil and most powerful deck and possesses all the Sevens cards and Download Evolution, much like A's deck. Upon being defeated, Apocalymon starts to lose consciousness and wonders if it will lose its hatred and be saved too, before wondering where it will go and whether peace or hatred is waiting for it there.

Apocalymon can then reappear in Infinity Tower's Battle Café randomly after winning any battle. Defeating him there will award the player an S-Black Pack and the Apocalymon card, which can't be obtained in any other way, as well as reopening the fourth Battle Arena, which will now remain open forever. 1. In the North American version of the TCG, Bandai America released two versions of the Apocalymon (Apokarimon in Bandai America terms) card. One was Apokarimon, which is it viewed far away. A closeup of Apokarimon was on the image of a card treated as a separate Digimon, Apokarimon (Creepy Mode).
  2. ダークネスゾーン is displayed as the furigana above the Japanese word for "darkness" (暗黒 Ankoku).
  3. Jump up to: 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 In Digimon Adventure, Apocalymon can use the attacks of other evil Digimon. The ones seen include Metal Seadramon's Ultimate Stream, Mugendramon's Mugen Cannon, Vamdemon's Bloody Stream, Devimon's Death Claw, and Nanomon's Plug Bomb. On the St-261 card, it also says that Apocalymon is capable of performing any offensive attack.
  4. Apocalymon's End of Your Turn ability activates the When Played effect of the Digimon placed in Evolution Bases as an effect of itself, so by placing BT10-111 Shoutmon (King Ver.), Apocalymon can use its When Played effect to act as a replacement for any 1 Xros Unit for the rest of the turn, assuming an effect is used to continue the turn, such as BT9-111 Alphamon: Ouryuken.
  5. Interaction with BT20-083 Omekamon. Apocalymon's End of Your Turn ability activates the When Played effect of the Digimon placed in Evolution Bases as an effect of itself, so by placing Omekamon while you have 1 or fewer Security, Apocalymon can use its When Played effect to evolve into Omegamon X-Antibody in the hand without paying the cost and ignoring evolution requirements.
