Digimon Adventure[edit]

Vamdemon is the third major villain that the Chosen Children face. Before the beginning of the series, he captures Tailmon and hardens her heart through his cruel treatment making her into one of his generals.

Vamdemon DA32.jpg

He first sends Pico Devimon to discourage the Chosen Children from awakening their Crests. After some of the Chosen Children do awaken their crests he appears before them to fight them himself. He defeats many of their Digimon but Sora's concern for Piyomon awakens her Crest of Love causing Piyomon to super evolve into Garudamon who held off Vamdemon long enough for the Chosen Children to escape.

He soon sets his eyes on finding and killing the eighth Chosen Child before she would even know she was a chosen child. After devising a spell to unlock the key cards he opens a gateway from his castle to Earth. Using fake Crests of Light that would glow if the eighth Chosen was near he had his minions scour Odaiba searching for her, while he held the real Crest of Light himself. His weakness to sunlight slowed his search at first, but he creates a fog barrier to blanket Odaiba in darkness. After finding out that Tailmon and another one of his minions, Wizarmon, were trying to steal the Crest of Light he figures out Tailmon is Hikari's Digimon partner. Wizarmon attacks him but Vamdemon repels the attack, however, Wizarmon snatches the Crest of Light off of him in the process before Vamdemon throws Wizarmon into Tokyo Bay. Tailmon is captured.

After one of his minions, Phantomon discovers that the eighth chosen his Hikari and captures her before Vamdemon. Tailmon denies her being the eighth chosen to protect her, but when Vamdemon has Pico Devimon pull her hair causing her to cry out in pain Tailmon calls out her name.

The other Chosen Children arrive with Wizarmon to save Hikari and Tailmon. In the battle Vamdemon attacks Hikari but Wizarmon jumps in the way acting as a shield. Seeing the sacrifice Hikari's Crest of Light awakens super evolving Tailmon into Angewomon. Angewomon paralyzes the Vamdemon with Saint Air attack and gathers all of the other Chosen's Digimons attack into her Holy Arrow attack killing Vamdemon.

Venom Vamdemon

However, Vamdemon begins his resurrection by saving his night raiders, under the command of Pico Devimon, devour his former minions. At six minutes and six seconds after six o'clock, he took on the form of Venom Vamdemon, losing his intelligence and his reason. He imminently swallowed Pico Devimon before rampaging through Odaiba. He dismissed the Chosen Children's Digimon with ease. The Chosen Children then uncover part of the prophecy allowing them to warp evolve Agumon and Gabumon into War Greymon and Metal Garurumon. They do some damage to the monstrous Venom Vamdemon but he quickly recovers and a second face emerges from Venom Vamdemon's abdomen known as "the beast". realizing that it is Venom Vamdemon's weak point they attack it killing him again.

His spirit abandoned his body and resided inside of Oikawa. He prayed on Oikawa's desire to travel to the Digital World and had him manipulate Ken into becoming the Digimon Kaiser. Ken would establish Dark Towers to weaken the barrier between Earth and the Digital World. After Ken was redeemed Oikawa had him captured and scanned the Dark Seed inside of him to make copies of it. Oikawa implanted them inside of other children who looked up to Ken. He would be confronted by Black War Greymon. Vandemon's spirit would surface and attacked Black War Greymon fatally wounding him. Black War Greymon used the last of his life force to seal the gateway between Odaiba and the Digital World.

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

Belial Vamdemon from Digimon Adventure 02

Not knowing this, Oikawa gathered the children infected with the Dark Seeds together and tried to open the gate to the Digital World. Instead, they were brought to the world of dreams. The younger generation of Chosen Children pursue him. Vamdemon leaves Oikawa's body, fatally wounding him in the process, and absorbs the Dark Seeds from the other children transforming himself into Belial Vamdemon. Belial Vamdemon slaughtered Oikawa's servants, Archnemon and Mummymon, to strike fear into the hearts of the Chosen Children. He then used his Mind Illusion attack to trap the Chosen Children within their own desires. However Daisuke aided the others in breaking out and learned to use the powers of the world of dreams to split their Digimon partners into all of their possible evolutions. Belial Vamdemon is blasted through the dimensional barrier into the Digital World. This turns to his favor as, when the Chosen Children's Digimon leave the world of dreams they return to normal, losing their ability to be in more then one evolution at once. Belial Vamdemon then gathered the darkness that lingered in the Digital World to power himself up and opened the gateway to Earth. He easily toppled the new Chosen Children's strongest Digimon, Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, Silphymon, and Shakkoumon, all while corrupting the Digital World and Earth with darkness. All of the other Chosen Children from around the world use their Digivices to transport themselves to the Digital World and use the lights of their Digivices to blind Belial Vamdemon. The Chosen Children then pep-talk the children who were infected with the Dark Seeds. As they overcome their fears of the future Belial Vamdemon's power's face and his body crumbles away. His spirit rose into the sky defiantly, but Imperialdramon Fighter Mode uses his Giga Death attack to finish Vamdemon off.

Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer & Cathode Tamer[edit]

Vamdemon was brought back to life thanks to Millenniumon, who he then served. He fights Akiyama Ryo in Vamdemon's Mansion, alongside a Clockmon and a Kokuwamon, the third boss fought in the game. Defeating Vamdemon freed Ishida Yamato, Kido Jo, Yagami Hikari, Gabumon, Gomamon and Tailmon. He fights Ryo again in Milleniumon's Lair alongside Pico Devimon, the third fight in the boss rush leading to Millenniumon, but is defeated once again.

Digimon World: Digital Card Arena[edit]

Vamdemon is the Battle Master of Deserted Island's Battle Arena, which opens up after the credits roll. Yagami Taichi sends the player to deal with him. He wishes for revenge, and the player reminds him of the Chosen Children he fought before, which makes him want to crush him and make him the first victim of his world conquest. Vamdemon plays the Dark Resurrection deck, a Black/Darkness deck with 4 attack, 3 defense and 2 evolution speed which is an incomplete Revived Dark deck. Upon being defeated, he wonders if losing to human children is his destiny and accepts it, but nonetheless demands a rematch to change said destiny.

Digimon Battle Chronicle[edit]

Digimon Adventure[edit]

In Episode 29, "The Sleeping Tyrant! Tonosama Gekomon", Vamdemon first appeared as Pico Devimon asked him for forgiveness after his plan to make the Crest of Purity never glow again failed. Vamdemon then decided to take matters into his own hands, tired of the constant mistakes of his subordinate.

Vamdemon appeared from the sky, breaking free from his coffin as he descended, in front of the Chosen Children for the first time in Episode 30, "Shining Wings! Garudamon". The Partner Digimon except Piyomon, who was wounded from an earlier attack by Pico Devimon, then evolved and fought Vamdemon, but they were easily defeated. Piyomon wanted to join the fight, but Takenouchi Sora refused and grabbed her as she was wounded. Piyomon's cries about how Sora didn't understand her made Sora remember how she acted the same way towards her mother the time she was not allowed to go to a soccer match and how her mother in fact put her before anything else. Piyomon then evolved to Birdramon and attacked Vamdemon with a Meteor Wing, though it was useless. Sora's Crest of Love then glowed, and Birdramon super-evolved into Garudamon for the first time.

Vamdemon is the thirty-sixth obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 30, "Shining Wings! Garudamon". As in the anime, Birdramon will evolve into Garudamon before the battle for the first time, and will stay in the form for free during the battle. He can deal multiple hits to one party Digimon with Bloody Stream and deal multiple hits to all the Party Digimon and heal himself with Night Raid. Upon being defeated, he drops the Continuous Attack DigiPiece, which allows the equipped Digimon to use the eponymous attack to attack a random target two times.

Thanks to Garudamon's power, the Chosen Children were able to stall until sunrise, which let them escape from Vamdemon.

In Episode 31, "Vamdemon, the Castle of Darkness", inside his castle, Pico Devimon reported to Vamdemon that they had gathered a multitude of soldiers. Vamdemon asked him if they were useful and Pico Devimon was incapable of properly answering him. Tailmon then entered the room, laughing and insulting the soldiers. This annoyed Pico Devimon, but before the situation could escalate, Vamdemon stopped them and asked Tailmon if she had found useful soldiers, which Tailmon did.

As the Chosen Children invaded the castle, Vamdemon proclaimed to his servants (which included Tailmon, Pico Devimon and Nanimon) that it was time to depart to kill the eighth Chosen Child. With the chant "Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius!", Vamdemon opened a gigantic gate through which they attempted to leave. However, before they could, the Chosen Children arrived. Vamdemon did not care, however, as they were too late. He refused to stay and ordered Pico Devimon to take care of the Chosen Children, before he left through the gate.

On top of a building, Vamdemon gave Pico Devimon and Tailmon copies of the eighth Chosen Child's Tag and Crest in Episode 34, "Mammon, the Great Clash at Hikarigaoka!", with the original in his possession. Despite being copies, they would react if they were close to the eighth Chosen Child. Vamdemon met with Pico Devimon and Tailmon once again in Episode 43, "Tokyo Tower is Hot! Death Meramon", deciding to make the building their base, then sent his subordinates to find the eighth Chosen Child once again.

Vamdemon confronted his minions, Pumpmon and Gottsumon, in the Main Street of Shibuya in Episode 44, "Pump and Gottsu are Shibuya-type Digimon". He asked them if they had found the eighth Chosen Child, which they hadn't, and if so, why they didn't take the Crests off Ishida Yamato and Takaishi Takeru. In fear, they faked that that was their plan.

After Pumpmon and Gottsumon gave up fighting the Chosen Children, they felt Vamdemon coming. Indeed, he soon appeared, and asked them why they hadn't defeated the Chosen Children. Declaring them worthless, he killed both of them with a Night Raid. Vamdemon decided to have the Chosen Children follow his minions, and his actions angered Yamato and saddened Takeru, who was also scared for their lives. To protect Takeru, Patamon regained the ability to evolve into Angemon. Recognizing Angemon as "the one who holds holy power", Vamdemon decided to retreat.

Wizarmon and Tailmon returned to Vamdemon's base to recover the true Crest of Light after Yagami Hikari and Tailmon united in Episode 45, "The Bond of Destiny! Tailmon". Wizarmon then found the Crest, but Vamdemon was there and not out until dawn as they thought. Vamdemon asked them if they had allied with the Chosen Children and disparaged Tailmon's eyes, as he always felt they were like daggers pointed his way. They then fought, with Vamdemon easily beating the duo. Vamdemon decided to kill Wizarmon first, but Tailmon challenged him instead, and Vamdemon once again fixated on her eyes, which shone with the light of hope that believed in dreams, which allowed Tailmon to get to where she was today, and she'd make those dreams come true and recover her true self by beating Vamdemon, which made him realize she was the eighth Partner Digimon. With this knowledge, he used his Night Raid on Wizarmon, throwing him into a river. Yagami Taichi and Greymon then arrived to help Tailmon, though Vamdemon wasn't intimidated by them and easily beat Greymon, who then evolved into Metal Greymon, though it made no difference. Vamdemon took Taichi's arrival as confirmation that Tailmon was indeed the eighth Digimon, though Tailmon refused it. Vamdemon decided to use her as bait for the eighth Chosen Child, replacing the Crest of Light Wizarmon took, then left with Tailmon.

In Episode 46, "All-Out Assault! The Odaiba Fog!", from on top of the Fuji TV station, Vamdemon boasted how he'd soon finish his barrier of fog to turn the Real World into hell. After Lilimon purified Dark Tyranomon with her Hana no Kubikazari, Vamdemon killed it with a Bloody Stream, then used Dead Scream on Lilimon, with Birdramon soon appearing to rescue her.

Inside Tokyo Big Sight in Episode 47, "She Descends! Angewomon!", Tailmon confirmed to the Bakemon that none of the children they kidnapped were the eighth child. Vamdemon reminded her that if she lied, he'd kill all the children. After that, Pico Devimon told Vamdemon they had found the eighth child, to the surprise of both Vamdemon and Tachikawa Mimi. Vamdemon made sure Tailmon knew, then told Pico Devimon to put the other kidnapped people to sleep so he could dine on them later. As Taichi and Agumon got closer to Tokyo Big Sight, they saw Vamdemon leaving.

After Hikari was brought to him, Vamdemon asked her why she gave herself over, and Hikari answered it was because he was hurting everyone. Vamdemon then asked Tailmon why she wouldn't look at Hikari, and Tailmon lied that she had never seen Hikari before and she was not the eighth child. To force her to confess, Vamdemon hurt Hikari, which caused Tailmon to exclaim her name. Vamdemon told them both to prepare themselves. The Chosen Children and Wizarmon then arrived, though Vamdemon saw them as no threat. Taichi threw Hikari's Digivice at her, only for Pico Devimon to intercept it. Vamdemon praised his minion then attacked the Chosen Children, who evolved their Partner Digimon to their Perfect levels to fight him. However, even all of the Perfect's signature attacks could not hurt Vamdemon at all. Patamon then evolved to Angemon and used his Heaven's Knuckle, which was more effective on the Vampire. Angemon ordered him to surrender, but instead Vamdemon released a Night Raid to kill Hikari. Tailmon jumped to protect her, and Wizarmon in turn to protect Tailmon, getting severely hurt by the attack. Hikari and Tailmon begged him not to die, and Tailmon apologised for getting him involved. Wizarmon, however, was just happy to have met Tailmon, who gave his life meaning, then died. Hikari's emotions caused her Digivice and Crest of Light to react, hurting Pico Devimon, who was forced to let go of the former, to Vamdemon's anger. Taichi grabbed the Digivice and threw it to Hikari, and Tailmon Super Evolved into Angewomon. Angewomon ordered Vamdemon to repent for his sins of intruding in the Chosen Children's mission, causing chaos in the Real World, and killing her friend Wizarmon. Vamdemon told her he merely did what he was born to do - sink the Real World into darkness, unite it with the Digital World, and then rule over the combined world as its king. Angewomon then used Saint Air, stunning Vamdemon and powering up the other Partner Digimon.

Vamdemon is the 54th obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 47, "She Descends! Angewomon!". As in the anime, Tailmon will evolve into Angewomon before the battle for the first time, and all Partner Digimon will join the battle in their highest forms. He can deal multiple hits to all the party and drain HP with Night Raid, multiple hits to one Digimon with Bloody Stream, or damage to one Digimon, Break, Shock, Skill Seal, lower HP to 1 and lower defense with Dead Scream. He attacks twice per turn thanks to his Continuous Action passive ability. After being defeated, he drops the Focus DigiPiece, which allows the user to perform the attack of the same name which raises the user's attack and defense two stages.

After the fight, the other Partner Digimon lent their power to Angewomon, who focused it in a Holy Arrow, which finally kills Vamdemon.

In Episode 48, "The Resurrected Venom Vamdemon", following Gennai's prophecy, Vamdemon returned to life as Venom Vamdemon. Pico Devimon then introduced him and mocked the Chosen Children's awe. Venom Vamdemon proclaimed he needed power, and Pico Devimon offered to lead him towards the food he procured for him, but Venom Vamdemon ate Pico Devimon instead. To fight Venom Vamdemon, Agumon and Gabumon evolved to their Adult, then Perfect forms, but their attacks couldn't hurt their enemy, and they were swiftly defeated and devolved. Angemon and Angewomon then took to the field, proclaiming they'd destroy the power of evil, but Venom Vamdemon laughed at their threat. Izumi Masami asked if Venom Vamdemon was a Perfect and Izumi Koshiro looked it up, only to find he was an Ultimate instead, a shock to the Chosen Children who thought Perfect was the highest level. As Takeru and Hikari cheered their Digimon on, Ishida Hiroaki asked Koshiro to read the rest of the prophecy. Koshiro realized that Angemon and Angewomon were the "angels" in the prophecy, that Takeru and Hikari were "the ones they must protect", and with help from Tentomon and his dad, that "their loved ones" must be their family, Taichi and Yamato. Believing in their resolve, Takeru and Hikari let Angemon and Angewomon shoot their arrows into them, which caused Agumon and Gabumon to Warp Evolve into War Greymon and Metal Garurumon, to Venom Vamdemon's surprise. War Greymon and Metal Garurumon advanced to fight Venom Vamdemon, alongside the other Partner Digimon who had regained their courage from the event.

Venom Vamdemon is the 55th obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children in Episode 48, "The Resurrected Venom Vamdemon". As in the anime, Agumon and Gabumon will evolve into War Greymon and Metal Garurumon before the battle for the first time, and all Partner Digimon will join the battle in their highest forms. He can deal multiple hits, Break and Shock with Venom Infuse, multiple hits with Inferno, or a single hit with Tyrant Savage, all to the entire party. He recovers 1000 HP per turn and attack twice per turn with the Auto Heal Ω and Continuous Action passive abilities, respectively. After being defeated, he drops the Super Counter DigiPiece, which allows the user to counterattack when they receive damage.

After being defeated, Venom Vamdemon's true face emerged from the lower part of its body and threatened to eat them all.

Venom Vamdemon with his true face revealed is the 56th obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 48, "The Resurrected Venom Vamdemon". Apart from his previous attacks, he can now deal multiple hits to the entire party with Chaos Flame. After being defeated, he drops the EVO Boost II, which allows the user to start battles evolved two levels.

After being defeated once again, Venom Vamdemon finally dies once and for all as there is no game adaptation of Digimon Adventure 02.

After the Chosen Children returned to Subspace from the sea of data in Episode 62, "The Final Dark Digimon", they were taken by a strange light into a new area with six coloured doors, and a seventh door between them with a chain of each colour. Behind the black door, the Chosen Children found Venom Vamdemon. Hikari and Tailmon decided to take care of him. Tailmon could feel Hikari's Light flowing through her body, then warp evolved into Ofanimon for the first time.

Venom Vamdemon with his true face revealed is an optional boss fight in Episode 62, "The Final Dark Digimon", obtained if the player got at least 35 points of bond rankings for Hikari. Tailmon will evolve for the first time into Ofanimon for no SP cost and remain in the form for the battle. After being defeated, he drops an EVO Boost II DigiPiece, which allows the user to enter battle having evolved two levels, if available.

With Venom Vamdemon defeated, both the black chain and door disappeared.
